Chapter 1: Team 7?

I woke with a start. The bright red eyes of my clan's murderer stuck in my mind. As my heartbeat slowed to normal, I looked around my small, dark room. The walls were brown and bare due to my lack of time to decorate. My clothes lay scattered on the floor causing my room to appear messy. I signed heavily, knowing I was not going to get any more sleep. Without a second thought, I pulled my cover from my body and walked into my bathroom. I pulled my long, curly golden blonde hair from the bun it sat in atop my head and attempted to run a brush through it. With my efforts proving to have some effect on the unruly tangles, I finished my attack on the mess I called hair and pulled it into a high ponytail. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I saw vibrant pink eyes brushed by curly fringe. A heart-shaped face, covered by flawless porcelain skin. My slightly upturned eyes pointed to a button nose, with full lips settled underneath. Heaving one last heavy sigh, I left the bathroom to eat before preparing myself to meet my new team. Grabbing a bowl from the many boxes of new kitchenware the Hokage gave me, I filled it with cereal. After a debate on whether I should use milk, I walked back to my room to eat my bowl of cereal. I sat on my bed and ate in silence. When I finished eating, I sat the bowl of milk on my dresser and walk to the pile of clean clothes. Making my way back to the bathroom, I decided I was clean enough from last night's shower. I brushed my teeth and put on my practice clothes. I had decided on a white wrap around top, a red skirt that I had cut the sides out of to reveal bandages which stopped around midthigh. I wrapped a scarf around my neck to cover the scar the spanned from the top of my neck to my collarbone. I grabbed my twin blades and tucked them into the bandages around my waist. Grabbing my weapons pouch, I tied it around my thigh and teleported to the training grounds.

As soon as the cloud of smoke disappeared I was faced with 3 shocked expressions and a bored one.

"Who are you and why are you here?" The blonde asked me, earning a smack on the back of the head by the pinkette.

"Naruto, don't be rude." She scolded him, then turned to me "I'm sorry about him. I'm Sakura. You must be the new member sensei told us about. You're beautiful." Sakura kept rambling, although her last comment made me blush. I was getting ready to respond when someone else spoke up.

"Hitomi-chan?" I turned to face the voice and came face to face with Sasuke Uchiha.

"SASUKE-KUN!" I yelled, running up to my best friend, who I haven't seen since the massacre of my clan. What can I say? I just got here 2 days ago, which I spent at home. I gave him a hug.

"You're here. Wait, why aren't you at home?" I froze, still in Sasuke's embrace. He took notice of my rigid state and pulled me back to arm's length. "Hitomi, what's wrong?"

"You haven't heard? But it was years ago, I was sure everyone knew."

"What are you talking about? What happened?" He looked me dead in the eye, worry coating his voice.

"My clan was murdered." With those four words, the memories came flooding back. I heard collective gasps around me. Sasuke's arms fell to his side in shock. "I am the only survivor." I could feel the tears pricking at the back of my eyes, but I blinked them away.

"What happened?" I looked over at Sakura. She looked like she was fighting tears as well.

"I'd rather not talk about it right now" I paused as everyone was silent. "Anyway, isn't this supposed happy and exciting?" They all stayed silent, so I turned to look at my sensei. "Kakashi-sensei, initiate the introduction protocol or whatever." He seemed shocked when I spoke to him, slightly pausing before he spoke.

"Um, uh, of course. Let's sit." I sat on the ground and looked up at everyone. They all stood still for a second before following suit. "Now, everybody go around saying your name, your likes, your dislikes, your hobbies, and your dreams. Hitomi, you can start us off."

"My name is Akuma Hitomi. My likes are training, sleeping, ramen, and my friends. My dislikes are murderers, liars, thieves, and fuckboys. My hobby is training. My dream is to avenge my clan and live a long happy life."

"Wow, Hitomi-chan, that's admirable." I looked over at Sakura and gave her a smile. "My name is Hanuro Sakura. My likes are Sasuke, my team, and being a ninja. My dislikes are sometimes Naruto and bad people. My hobbies are almost everything. My dream for the future is to be a good ninja and well umm." She glanced over at Sasuke and blushed a cherry red. Well, at least she didn't make the whole thing about him.

"My name is Uzumaki Naruto. My likes are cup ramen, when Iruka-sensei or Kakashi-sensei pay for my ramen, and going on fun missions. My dislikes are waiting for the 3 minutes the ramen has to cook and going on simple D-rank missions. My dream for the future is to surpass the Hokage and then have the people of this village acknowledge my existence. My hobby is training. Believe it!" Naruto is certainly an... interesting character.

"My name is Uchiha Sasuke. My likes are going on missions and training. My dislikes are many things. My ambition is to resurrect my clan and kill a certain man." I was slightly shocked by his words. I looked around me to see no one really shocked by his words. His aura was unnerving as it rolled off his body, sending shivers up my spine. Our visions for our futures were the same but his vision seemed more sinister. Almost as if he would go to any length to bring the murderer of his clan to justice. Just when I thought I couldn't take the feeling anymore, Kakashi-sensei spoke up to break the tension.

"Welcome to team 7 Hitomi. You'll be a great asset to our team. Especially with the chunin exams coming up." I smiled at him, thankful for the change of topic.

"I made it in time for the chinin exams? This day could not get any better."

"What are the chunky exams?" I turned to naruto as a giggle passed my lips, finding his confusion of the words funny.

"The chunnin exams." When he gave me a confused look, I explained further. "The chunnin exams are the exams you have to take to pass from genin to chunnin."

"Exactly, and I've recommended all of you. Even you Hitomi." Kakashi-Sensei explained as he gave us each a form. Then with a poof, he was gone.

"So who is up for ramen?" Naruto asked, holding his stomach. There was a collection of yeses from me and Sakura, while Sasuke gave us a grunt in agreement. I looked over at him. When he noticed me looking, I smiled. He returned my smile and caught up with the rest of us.

As we all walked to the ramen shop, I slowed down and watched my team. Even with Sakura's huge crush on Sasuke, they acted as if all was normal. They were all different, yet they were bonded as a team. Yes, team 7 consisted of a hyperactive blonde, a fangirl, and my emo best friend. I knew that maybe I would actually be accepted for the first time since my clan's massacre. Perhaps, that's not so bad.

"Come on, Hitomi-chan!" yelled Sakura, noticing me lagging behind them.

Not so bad at all.
