The Red Baron
Rehearsal break. 11am.
Mallory goes to the rooftop to take a smoke. He sees Don, sitting on the dirt with his one leg outstretched, writing solemnly about something in a journal. "Hey, Donnie." He called. The blonde man noticed his presence and winked. "There's my muse. Are you less furious now?"
"A little bit. Can I join you?" Mallory asked. Don silently beckoned at him to sit besides him. Mallory happily obliged and sat crossed leg. He peered at Don's and questioned inquisitively. "What are you writing, my darling poet?"
"Just adding lines from an old poem of mine." Don answered proudly, handing Mallory the writings. Mallory examined it and read it vigorously.
"It was a glorious feeling
To be so high
Above the earth
In the air
I had nothing to fear
It is what I used to feel
but after rusts has peeled
Oh, for what I could kill
For again to feel
I threw myself
Body and soul and all
Again and again
Should one admonish?
That is useless,
they do their best anyhow.
Should one pass
on fears or worries?
How intolerable
Should one complain?
No, I could not do that,
I could not act
so small and wretched.
So one keeps silent,
one seeks to savor the moment,
to enjoy the presence of the other
while it lasts
Because in a blink of an eye
It's gone
Before I could even say goodbye
I no longer have the brash feeling
I known to myself
I've seen death too often
I had mourned too often
Haunting ghosts
Of the joy of yesterday
I know will not banish
Joy has left me..
Yet I forced a charming smile
So emptily
With a hint of lonely
Love was not
a hurrah and a roar
It was just bitter
And cripplingly sober
I was Shot down
Crashed to the ground
Could not recover
From the lie that is "Forever"
Give me a goodbye kiss
'cause honey
I'll be gone
Gone into the abyss
I desire to
burst into flames
Call me names
make me feel shame
I don't care
If the feeling is pain
Let me indulge in it
From someone I crave
Give me a goodbye kiss
'cause honey
I'll be gone
Gone into the abyss"
Mallory glimpsed at Don, who was eagerly anticipating. "What do you think?" Don asked.
Mallory heaved a sigh and replied. "It's wonderful. Honestly, I never thought you are the type of person to write sad poetry and it tells me so much about you."
Don laid his head at Mallory's legs and grabbed the cigarette from Mal's lips and put it on his own. His light sky blue eyes meeting the other's deep oceanic blue eyes.
He puffed a smoke and opened up to Mallory who was listening.
"You know, I may be a bit of a perpetual smiler, but I lived for two painstaking decades. The things I love lost their charm... Paris is no longer romantic...
Disney isn't magical anymore… Still, I am considered young for an angel or demon whatsoever. I was naive and fell in love over and over again, despised the fact the people I loved died and I tend to move on reluctantly. It hurts, you know. Every person I fell for, the more I felt for that person. 50 years ago when my wife died, I was tired of loving.. Because I thought I loved her the most."
He held Mallory's hands and caressed it. "Then I met you. You were the most entertaining yet meanest person my heart beats for."
"That must mean something from a rebel angel." Mallory mused as he combed Don's golden locks with his fingers.
"Look, I'm a fallen angel and a worker of the most wicked, But I am not fully evil. I have quite a complex moral code.. I... "
Don chuckled at himself and shook his head. His wistful eyes directed at his lover.
"I ramble too much. People get bored when I do this. All I desire to say is I love you more than any creature there is."
"Oh, Don." Mallory rolled his eyes, mocked-horrified. "Aren't you such a charmer. My tooth is aching from your sweet words."
Don raised a brow while his mouth formed a roguish grin. "If you don't believe me, I can show you. Actions speak louder than words, doesn't it?"
"Show me how?" Mallory asked curiously.
Don smirked and pulled Mallory's hair down until he could reach his lips. The two kissed until a door creak alerted the two lovers.
"Mallory, why did you guys just disappeared?" Rez shouted, then realized awkwardly what the two were doing. "O-oh. Was I interrupting something?"
"I... Uh... need to use the bathroom. Excuse me." Don excused as he covered his flustered face and left all of a sudden. Mallory cussed silently, deeply infuriated. "Son of a bitch, You could have just messaged me in the phone." Mallory told Rez with a threatening glare.
