Epiphany

Mallory sat on the counter, observing Don, who stood up. He seemed to be uncharacteristically on edge about something. Roxette sat at the kitchen table besides Rez. After gulping the shot of vodka, she shared the details of the story.

"We came to the apartment last week, before the lock down. We were looking for you because I wanted Rez to apologize personally, but you were not there. So, we decided to hangout with Rose for a while...then there was a knock at the door.

She opened it. There were, like, three men who wore these white suits. They asked us where Mal was… We told them we had no idea, but then, they wouldn't fucking leave.

Instead, they said that we should come with them. We refused, then..." She busted into tears, breaking her bold facade. Rez rubbed her back for support.

"Go on." Don calmly said.

Roxette sighed and resumed, "Then all of a sudden, we just woke up in some unfamiliar place. I was freaking out because we were separated. After some days, a stranger helped us and we escaped. He told us to find you and to tell you to be very careful."

"Where's Rose?" Don asked.

Rox looked down, prompting Rez to answer for her. "She was left behind. He didn't get to save her because her cell was too far away from ours...We almost got caught!"

Mallory put his hands into his mouth, silently perturbed.

Don sighed and patted Roxette on the back, who seemed to be really emotionally exhausted. "You guys rest, okay?

I'll let you guys stay here."

"Okay." Rez nodded. As the cousins walked to the other room, the blonde man turned to Mal and held his hand tight. The shorter man couldn't help but to notice Don's apprehensive stare at him.

"Do you know them?" Mallory asked.

"Yes...It's the seraphim." Don held his head down and cursed under his breath. "What do they even want?

I need to know, dammit!"

Mallory put his hands on his partner's shoulders.

"Don, things will turn out okay--"

"No, this is very bad! They are not just any inept angels! Those men are seraphs and archangels!" Don lashed out. "They would obliterate any demon they see! What if they hurt you too? I can't live..." He stopped himself before he could explode any further. Mallory stepped back steadily as Don took a nice, deep breath. He spoke up again with better composure. "I am sorry. I'm just very frustrated. I just wished I know what those bastards are here for." He took a seat while staring into space. "I-I'm scared what they might do to you..."

Mallory came to his side and wrapped his arms around Don's neck. He rested his nose on his golden hair and brushed it gently, as his lover leaned on his chest.

Their calm moment was disrupted with a loud knock on the door.

"Donadieu, I need to talk to you."

"Stay here, Mal." Don stood up and carefully opened the entrance. He went out and closed the door behind him and bowed to Abaddon. "Why are you here?"

"Don. Can I trust you?" Abaddon asked in a hushed tone. He was checking their surroundings as he spoke.

"How peculiar." Don said with a baffled voice and tilted his head.

"What is it, Sir?"

"You are the only one I can trust with this. It's about the potential doomsday."

Don became taken aback. "A potential doomsday? How?"

"Everyone in Heaven and Hell has discovered about the offspring of a Demon and an Angel."

"What? But that's not possible. Demon and Angel blood cannot mix! That never happened at all!"

His superior hushed him and continued. "That's what all of us thought… but it actually happened. There is an unstable hybrid with unstable powers roaming on this earth. It's not divine nor evil. It's something more than we can even comprehend."

Don processed all the information that was given to him. Before he can ask again, Abaddon spoke up again. "Mr. LeBlanc. I have confidential information that I hope only you and I know."

"What is it, sir?"

"The demon who had made the baby, gave his offspring to a cult leader and his wife. Their names are Harris Terrance and Ambrosia Terrance."

Don was staggered from the revelation and glimpsed behind his back.

"Terrance...Mallory is a Terrance."

"Don't fret, Donadieu. It's not your lady friend."

Don sighed in relief but quickly became stressed as he realized something. "Then that means..."

Abaddon covered Don's mouth and whispered urgently. "I need a favor from you."

Don removed his superior's hand from his mouth and stared suspiciously. "A favor? What's in it for me?"

"You want your lover to live forever with you, right? I could make that happen."

Don eyes widen briefly. He arched his hands together and squinted at Abaddon. "Okay, let's hear what you want, Abaddon."

"Help me find that hybrid, that's all I ask. Do we have an agreement, LeBlanc?" Abaddon asked as he reached out his hand for a handshake.

"Abaddon may be a demon and hates humans, but he's not a liar. I worked with him for a long time." Don thought to himself as he gazed at Abaddon.

Don sighed as he gave his superior a firm handshake. "We have an agreement, sir."

Abaddon nodded his head, then warned Don. "Be careful, nephilim. Remember, you are not the only one in this place looking for that creature." Don nodded and checked his friends inside the room. As he returned his sight to his front, nothing was in sight except a gust of grey and black smoke. Don coughed and checked the hallways before closing the door.
