Cabaret Singer

Note: the song style of "Toxic" is from the youtube video from above.

Watch the music video for this chapter to make it better. ;D

I worked a bit too hard for this chapter.

---------------------------------------------------------
The lights turned off all of a sudden, making some of the audience gasp. All of the eyes followed the spotlight as it crept to the center stage.

Don walked up to the stage and grabbed the microphone from the microphone stand. He smiled and greeted the audience. "Bonsoir, I will be your entertainment tonight. You could clap your hands, but I would prefer if you could just rattle your jewelry instead." He jested while he jiggled an imaginary necklace with his hands.

The wealthy crowd quickly took the joke well enough and laughed quietly.

Hooded figures sneaked onto the stage with their instruments. He then started to sing as soon as the crowd grew curious.

"Baby, can't you see..."

Don looked up, dark shadows obscuring his face. The light slowly widened, shrinking the shadows.

"I'm calling.

A guy like you

should wear a warning."

He casually glimpsed at Mallory, then gazed at him with a charming yet dark grin. Mallory tried to appear unfazed, concealing the sudden cold shiver down his spine.

The lights stopped as the shadows shrunk, but the stage was still dim.

"It's dangerous.."

Don tilted his head and smirked.

"...I'm falling."

The spotlight hit the hooded figure who precisely and beautifully played her part at the cello. It swiftly turned off and switched to Don, who closed his eyes and raised his fists.

"There's no escape.

I can't wait."

He opened his eyes gradually with a wistful expression, gracefully flicking his wrist.

"I need a hit.

Baby, give me it."

He caressed the microphone and tilted his head. He grinned seductively, and his eyes sparkled with passion. He smiled coyly at the last line.

"You're dangerous.

I'm loving it."

The spotlight switched to the hooded figures who played their instruments elegantly, building up and then gracefully slowing down.

Both spotlights went to Don, who was daintily turning his head around to the music and closing his eyes gently.

"Too high.

Can't come down.

Losin' my head.

Spinnin' 'round and 'round.."

He opened his eyes slowly and stared piercingly at the crowd.

"...Do you feel me now?"

He glimpsed at the hooded figure at the piano and gestured his hands expressively as he sang.

"With the taste of your lips,

I'm on a ride.

You're toxic I'm slippin' under.

Taste of a poison paradise."

He then squinted and tilted his head as he hit the notes.

"I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

And I love what you do.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?"

He smiled briefly as his chest slightly expanded and contracted. He then strutted and moved around the stage.

"It's getting late

to give you up.

I took a sip

from my devil's cup.

Slowly, it's taking over me."

He stopped as the cello started and gestured gracefully to the microphone he held, facing away from the audience.

"Too high.

Can't come down.

Losin' my head.

Spinnin' 'round and 'round."

Don waited for his turn, then winked before singing the following line.

"Do you feel me now?"

He smirked and glanced at Mallory for a moment, then strode to the center.

"With the taste of your lips,

I'm on a ride.

You're toxic I'm slippin' under.

Taste of a poison paradise."

He held his hand up dramatically and slowly put it down.

"I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

And I love what you do.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?"

Don sang slowly as the piano played their part.

"With the taste of your lips,

I'm on a ride.

You're toxic I'm slippin' under.

With a taste of the poison paradise.

I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

And I love what you do.

Don't you know that you're toxic?

I'm addicted to you.

Don't you know that you're toxic?"

He held the mic low, singing deeply as he stepped back when the lights gradually dimmed again.

His figure was half-consumed by the shadows.

"Intoxicate me now.

With your lovin' now.

I think I'm ready now.

I think I'm ready now.

Intoxicate me now.

With your lovin' now.

I think I'm ready now."

At the end, he gestured a maestro cut-off as the instruments stopped at the same time the lights abruptly went off. Applause filled the place as he grinned and took a proud bow.
