From Ugly to Pretty, by iMeowmeow654

On no Friday in particular, I pulled open my locker to put my stuff away before heading to lunch. The girl next to me is one of those super pretty girls, and she keeps a huge mirror in her locker. Using her mirror, I took a good look at myself.

Blonde hair in two messy braids? Check. Light brown eyes?

...Black framed glasses? Check.

Is Sierra a nerd? Affirmative. Does Sierra care?...maybe a little.

I shook myself away from her mirror before my pretty girl neighbor thinks I'm being weird for staring into her locker. And I headed off to lunch.

However, before I am able to reach my destination, I spot a particular boy walking down the hallways, with a girl on each of his arms. The boy is Dustin. Every single girl in my school has a crush on this boy. Including me. But he'd never notice me anyways. No one ever does.

Ducking my head down to hide my quickly reddening face, I speed past him to get to where I'm going.

I hurry into the lunchroom, and quickly scan the tables. I spot a boy with blonde hair, dark blue eyes, pale skin, and freckles splattered across his face. Reese. My best friend.

I hurry over to him and sit down.

"I want to get Dustin's attention..." I murmured to him. Reese knew all about Dustin. But Reese wasn't very helpful when it came to my girl problems, which I understand.

"Uh... If you want to... to get his attention..." Reese started. He seemed to be second guessing saying anything at all. "Maybe... erm... try changing yourself up a bit?"

I knew he was only trying to help me. He didn't mean anything mean by saying that, but I got his meaning.

I guess I wasn't the most attractive girl out there. But was that really only the only say to get to him...?

I suppose it is... So I'll have to do it.

~~~<><><><><>TIME SKIP THE FIRST<><><><><>~~~
Over the weekend, I had bought contact lenses, which I'd never done before. I put in my contacts, and threw my hair back into my signature two braids before heading off to school again on Monday.
Once I arrived at school, I tried to look for Dustin. But I had to be subtle.
Fortunately for me, Dustin stood just around a corner, but he still had his two girls practically clinging onto him.
I walked around the corner, walking past Dustin, smiling widely to show off my teeth, which now had no braces.
"Sierra!"
"She looks so different!"
"So pretty!"
"But we're prettier than her still, right?" I heard the girls on Dustin's arms asking.
"Yes, of course," Dustin reassured them.
That caused my fury to boil. I only did this because of you!
I stormed off. I needed to do more?! Dustin had better be worth my time.
I had Reese in my first class. Before the bell rang, I walked over to him.
"It didn't work. He doesn't think I'm pretty enough," I told Reese sadly.
Brushing some of his hair out of his face, Reese suggested gently, "I have a friend who wants to be a makeup artist. I'm sure she could help you pick out makeup and really stylish clothes..."
I was so glad he was helping me so much. But he still seemed really uncertain...
"You think I look pretty, right?" I asked.
"Y-Yes! Of course! But don't take it the wrong way!" I watched his face go pink. Did he think I thought he had a crush on me?
Shrugging it off, I returned to my seat for class.
~~~<><><><><>TIME SKIP THE SECOND<><><><><>~~~

Before school the next day, Reese waved me down outside the bathrooms, a girl with wild reddish hair, fair skin, and electric green eyes next to him.

"Alright! This shouldn't be too much work!" his friend exclaimed.

"Sierra, this is Luci.  She's training to be a makeup artist, like I said,"  Reese explained.

"I'm gonna be dong the makeup on all the Hollywood stars one day!" Luci was ambitious at least.

Luci led me into the bathroom, where she did my makeup and hair. After what felt like years of waiting, I looked into the bathroom mirror.

Luci was really good with makeup. She had given me bright red lipstick, just noticeable dark blue eye shadow, covered any and all blemishes and acne I had on my face,  curled my hair, and done everything else in the power of makeup and hair styling to make me prettier.

"AAAAAnnnddddd... I brought an outfit and shoes for you to put on too. Just be careful with your hair." Luci pulled out some clothes.

"And you brought all of this to school?" I asked cautiously.

"Just for today!"

I went into a stall and changed my clothes.

I stepped out, and looked at myself again.

Luci had given me a ruffled light pink skirt, a stylish top with the colors to match, and a long-sleeved dark pink jacket to go over it. I had a pair of dark grey wedges too, but there were so difficult to walk in.

I looked beautiful! There was no way Dustin wouldn't notice me now!

I hurried, as fast as someone can go in wedges, over to Luci and hugged her tight.

"Thank you so much!" I cried out.

"You look great! If Dustin doesn't notice you now, he must be as blind as a bat! But I think even a bat could see how beautiful you look!"

I walked out of the bathroom, finally starting to get used to the wedges. Now to find Dustin.

"That can't be!"

"It's Sierra!"

"She looks gorgeous!"

I took in all of the compliments, my pride growing with every step I took. I saw Dustin, with his two same girls.

I started to walk past them, but was stopped by someone touching my shoulder.

"Sierra, wait...!" It was Dustin. "Sierra, you look absolutely beautiful! I was wondering, if maybe you wanted to go out sometime?"

I was just about to say yes, when I noticed something. There was a girl standing behind Dustin, her head down. But I could see her bright red face. She hard dark brown hair in pigtails, light brown eyes, black framed glasses. She reminded me of someone. She reminded me of... me.

She was shaking really bad, like she was so nervous. She was shaking, like she had a crush on Dustin.

"Wait, Dustin, who's that over there? Do you know her?" I asked. His question would have to wait.

"No, she's probably one of my fans. She's too ugly for me to even look at her. Look at her ugly glasses and braces!"

I was shaking now, but I wasn't nervous. I was enraged.

Why hadn't I seen it earlier? Dustin only cared for looks. He was shallow, hurtful person.

"So... about my question," Dustin asked again, but I was hardly listening I was so mad. "Will you go out with me?"

For just an instant, I couldn't control myself. And in that instant, I had manged to bring the palm of my hand across Dustin's face as hard as I could. In that instant, I had slapped Dustin right across the face.

Dustin stumbled backwards, and fell onto the floor.

"What is wrong with you?!"

I turned and swiftly approached the girl with the dark brown hair in pigtails.

"Don't. He's not worth your time. I was just like you, now look at me..." I said to her. She looked at me, blinking. "Don't change yourself. Not for anyone."

I walked back over to my locker, took out my contact lenses and replaced them with my glasses. I put my blonde hair back into two braids.

And then I hurried over to the bathroom to wash all this disgusting makeup off my face, and to get changed.
