I just realized, as a reader, I want to wrap the characters up in warm blankets and hide them from the authors (looking at you John Green Rick Riordon Veronica Roth)

But as a writer, my first thought is, what is the worst thing I can possibly do to them

Like in a new story I'm writing which I'll post on here once I decide on the beginning because I'm having issues with that, I'm going to kill one of the main characters (keep in mind there's like 7 main characters)
