Glimpse of the Future Truth
Do you know the pain of never being wanted, loved, or cared about? Do you know the life of a person who has grown up in the system, who was passed from family to family like some hand me down clothes? I wake up every morning and look into the mirror and I wonder what life would be like without this pain.
I stared at the women in the mirror looking back at me, cautiously I took my hand and touched the mirror as the lady did the same. When my fingers touched the glass it rippled like water, and the hand from the other side grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the rippling mirror.
"Look" the mysterious lady whispered in my ear.
I opened my eyes, "Oh my... Where-" I said in awe as I looked around me. We were swimming in what looked like the galaxy. Lights, the color of the rainbow, danced around us. Blues, greens, reds, and yellows mixed together. Reaching out in front of me I felt the colors flow through my fingers.
I heard a chuckle to my right, and my attention focused on the woman next to me, " It's beautiful, isn't it?" I nodded in awe we began to fly through the river of the galaxy. "There is much more to see before you must leave."I looked at her as we flew into an unknown place. She was beautiful; Her hair was like gold with the brightness of her glowing blonde hair. "It's so pretty... I wish my hair was that beautiful." I mumbled under my breath. I was starting to feel a little jealous.
The lady smiled and I blushed, we stopped and a light engulfed us. I opened my eyes and I was sitting in a office I knew too well, the adoption office. I saw a girl with short, black hair. Her hands were small and the large office chair engulfed her body.
The office door swung open, revealing a familiar man and woman, trailed by a social services officer. The worker gave her a gloomily look trying to smile.
I set my blocks up not letting the hurtful words creep into my frail heart, "We don't want this ugly, ungrateful child... she is a disgrace... no one will ever want her." the words flew out like always. As the couple left, I saw the worker's eyes fill with tears. Light engulfed me again and I was alone again with the lady.
"Why are you showing this to me ?" I asked her. She only smiled at me; although, the emotions in her eyes called to me. I felt the tears from my eyes starting to run down my cheeks.
I looked around and found myself in a dark room, suddenly a wave of fear and anxiety ran up my spine. There was a loud bang and a door flew open, smashing into the wall. I saw a man stumble in, and stumble close to a girl that was cowering in the corner. He raised his fist to her, swinging it down to hit her in the face. He continued to hit her over and over, but she did nothing. She took the beatings with an emotionless face. Just the thought of what she did to deserve this passed as a warm light shone on me, and again I was with the lady. All the pain disappeared, the fear left, but the sadness remained. So there could be others that have gone through the same thing as me... I thought.
The lady smiled brightly at me as I stared at her. Who was she? And why is she showing this to me? I thought.
She reached out and caressed my cheek, " This will be the last thing I have to show you, then all your questions will be answered." She said as she kissed my forehead, I fell back into the light when the brightness dimmed down I looked around and I was in a bright room in a soft comfy bed. I looked around the room, and stood getting up heading for what looked like the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and gasped what I saw was the woman's reflection staring back at me. I wiped the tears away as they rolled down my face. The women that had guided me was staring directly at me.
"Jess! Come down it's time for breakfast!" A woman's voice called. I followed the smell of food. A man and woman stood at the table looking at what looked like pictures. I smiled as I saw they were of me and them, doing things I've never done. I cried as I saw the love in their eyes, the care, they loved me, truly.
"Awe sweetie what's wrong?" the woman asked cupping my cheeks with her warm caring hands.
"Thank you..." I cried out. She pulled me into a loving hug and the man joined in.
I smiled as the light shone over me pulling back to the lady, I smiled, " Thank you Jess Seraphina..." as said hugging the other woman, who was now known as me, but older... my future self.
"Just know things may look bleak now, and you may think no one will want you, or love you, that no one will ever understand you. Eventually this couple will come to you and show you the truth. If you weren't here everything would be different you are more than the universe to them." she smiled and I opened my eyes standing back in front of the mirror back to my present time I smiled and started to think what the future will be for me.
A/N: So this was a group writing... well I wrote it for a friend she edited it... we did for a English project. No idea what grade it earned but I liked the idea. I wanted to make it longer though the rubric said that we can only go up to a thousand words so it was very short if you like it please review and if you think that it would be a good idea to make it longer and better PM me!!! Random but whatever lol
