I have no idea if anyone will understand this, but I need to get it out of me.

So I play the violin, and because I don't like the exam stuff I'm doing, I've been looking up meme music to get something new to play *cough* and also impress my friends *cough*

Anyway, I was looking up things on YouTube and found a good compilation of sheet music (like a twelve minute video, absolute gold mine). Even better, when I clicked on the link in the description, I found the original score with more memes. Lots more memes. 23 pages worth of sheet music for memes. Absolute jackpot!!

But it was written for trombone. The other compilations (exactly the same content) were for trumpet and alto saxophone. Me, forgetting my Grade 5 theory, didn't see the problem immediately. I thought, this is OK, I'll just be able to play it.

If you don't understand music, it gets complicated here. The violin, all the other stringed instruments, trombone and some others are C instruments. This means that a C played on piano sounds the same as a C from these instruments. If you want to play music written for an instrument that isn't a C instrument, you need to transpose it.

1) torture to do 3 lines of it

2) absolue nightmare for 23 pages

3) change music written for one instrument so it sounds OK on your instrument

So, trumpet is a B flat instrument. Basically if you play a C on a trumpet it sounds like B flat on a piano, and therefore a violin. Problem for me. The meme music won't sound like what it actually is, unless I spend several hours transposing it so it sounds OK on a violin. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Alto sax is an E flat instrument. Also a problem, I can't play anything without several hours of work.

But then I remembered that trombone is a C instrument, therefore I can play stuff without work! Or so I thought.

Trombone plays in bass cleff. Violin plays in treble clef. Basically I'd have to do hours of work to make it readable. I can read bass clef because I used to do piano, but I struggle and it's not as easy as reading treble.

If you didn't understand what I was on about, I can't play the memes unless I sit down and do hours of work.

All I want is to be able to play Nyan Cat to show off, is that too much to ask?!
