Shut up and dance was actually a pretty important song in helping me realise I wasn't straight.

I was about 10 when this song came out, and because its such a bop, it was everywhere. So one time, I was at a classmate's party, and this came on. We were loving it, dancing and singing at the top of our voices. Except all my classmates were changing all the pronouns to 'he'. We were 10.

Instead of 'she took my arm', they made it 'he took my arm'. I was so confused.

'why are you changing it?' I asked.

'If you say she it means you're... You know...' I didn't know what they meant, and even when I did realise what they meant a few months later, I didn't see what the problem was. Now everything makes a lot more sense 😂

The great thing about liking two or more genders is not having to change song pronouns!

As I'm closeted the best thing I can do to show pride is arranging my pastel highlighters in rainbow order. And getting my hands on anything pink, yellow or blue.

Seeing a rainbow feels so much cooler know than it did before.
