Name Origin: Tanner - English| Karleen - German| Quince - Latin

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Species: Werewolf

Appearance: Tanner has sun-kissed skin, and a decently muscular frame that is somewhat underwhelming when considering her actual strength. Her hair reaches down to about an inch or two above the middle of her back, and is currently dyed a dirty blond that she believes matches her current aesthetic more. The rest of her features are somewhat sharp, and her eyes are grey-blue, although they are more grey than blue.

Clothing: She usually wears a thick strapped muted red tank top underneath a worn black leather jacket. The jacket's sleeves were cuffed an inch above her elbow, and the jacket itself was just well loved. It used to belong to her mother. On her forearms she wears a set of black leather arm braces that match with her jacket. She also wears navy blue jeans that don't inhibit her movements much, along with black combat boots. Her only accessory is her tribe talisman, which is a small corked glass bottle filled with a bit of sand. Around where the necklace clips on there is a small crimson gem attached.

Wolf Appearance: Tanner is a decent sized wolf with a good set of legs on her. She's rather fast with mediocre strength, but her speed and agility gives her the edge she needs to be an efficient fighter. Her coat is a light sandy color, and her muzzle, chest, back of her legs, paws, underbelly, and things like that are white. Her eyes are a like a worn river rock, worn smooth by time, and can appear to be dark violet depending on the lighting.

Personality: Tanner is an interesting character to say the least, because when her companions finally begin to think they have a good grasp on her personality, she tends to doing something completely unexpected. In essence, Tanner is a stereotype defying oxymoron of a woman. She is very blunt in not only how she addresses situations, but also in her speech as well. She curses like a sailor to be frank, although she has refrained from cussing for periods of time before. In some cases she can be very hot-headed, and she is very anger oriented, but she never lets her anger control her. In fact she puts her anger to work and harnesses it to help her focus during a battle or give her motivation to come up with strategies on the fly. She is the type of person to face her problems head on, or at least she likes to think she is. This is true for the most part, at least for physical problems. Tanner is wonderful at tackling any physical problems that she might come across, such as a problem between tribemates, an enemy, or just anything that she can physically interact with. Emotional problems are where she stumbles and admittedly loses her way. Tanner isn't good with dealing with her more negative emotions save for anger. She often bottles up her emotions and shoves the problems that come with them to the side to deal with later, except she never does. Not until she explodes or is forced out of necessity to face them. Tanner is a very confident and bold woman, and so of course she doesn't generally like to appear weak or show fear. She prides herself in her fighting capabilities and her intellect. Tanner is actually rather analytical and mentally gifted with strategies and such, which can comes as a large surprise due to the stereotypical hotheaded category that she seems to fall into. Because of this pride, and the fact that she worked very hard to become an elite fighter as well as make it this far, she doesn't tolerate disrespect. She also values actions over words because you can always say something, but without anything to back up those words then what are they? Meaningless. Respect is in the same category sort of. She never expects instant undying respect from those meeting her for the first time, but she does expect to be given the respect deserving of an Alpha, and never anything more. She had to have done something to have made it there, so the least someone can do is listen to what she has to say and see what she does and judge from there. Tanner also is highly distrustful of strangers and tends to treat them with impatience and a short temper in the beginning. As she gets to know said strangers she does usually warm up to them a bit. She is loyal to a fault as well, and has deemed it her life's purpose to protect those she cares about. She rarely looses her cool on someone, although when she does she generally has at least thought over if the it is the time and place for such things, and if she can afford to let her emotions run rampant for a bit before doing so. She can fit whatever scenario she finds herself in if the need arises, which utilizes the manipulative and ambitious side of her that is generally hidden.

Tanner is many things, and so it's honestly hard to describe her personality-but I think I managed.

Powers:
Superhuman Agility, Strength, and Endurance - Her agility and endurance are enhanced to levels beyond that of human capabilities, which means she can dodge and preform maneuvers easier as well as last longer in a fight. The same is with her strength.

Sand Manipulation - She can see past her normal realm of sight and into the coarse river of power inside of her, and call upon it to be able to sense sand in a large radius around her. Then using this power she can give the sand a tiny spark of this energy, which both draws it to her and gives it somewhat of a will of it's own due to the wild nature of her power. She has to bend the sand to her will to control it, and luckily for her she is overflowing with willpower.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If someone else were to try to steal this ability from her or somehow use her power then unfortunately they will be consumed by her power. Her mother's bloodline (the Kassi family) have a natural resistance to this sand ability and so they can last a bit longer using however even they are eventually consumed. Tanner is the first to have made it past her teens, and is the first in her family that will not be consumed by the sands. It's a power that wears at the user-but luckily for Tanner she's completely dominated it. If she gives it the chance it still will attempt to consume her, but as long as she is confident and her willpower doesn't shatter she'll be fine.

Sand Spirit - This is when either Tanner, Miki, or both delve deep into the coarse and raging rapids of Tanner's power, and become one with the sand. The sand that they become can be shaped into beings like a sand-wolf or a human or possibly even other beings, and is practically immune to physical attacks since they are made out of sand. Miki has no repercussions from this, but for Tanner it is dangerous to stay for more than two or three days in this form, because even with Miki's help she might get consumed by the sand. While in this form Tanner's body is in a more comatose state, and should be hidden so that it cannot be harmed while fighting like this. However if only Miki leaves to go into this form, and Tanner stays, then they'll both be fine. Miki herself can wield a small amount of sand, and of course fight as a sand wolf.

Anger Manipulation - Because of this ability anger has been a major portion of Tanner's life that she has had to learn to deal with. This ability essentially triples the amount of anger that she would feel normally, so without it she would actually be quite calm. To enable this ability she has to let her anger wash over her. This brings on somewhat of a transformation as her anger is turned into a visible red aura that she can manipulate. She also gains a few attributes from her wolf shift such as her ears, tail, wolf eyes and whatnot. It makes her a bit more wolffish in general. Her strength is a bit more enhanced in this form as well. She has gotten to the point that she can preform some experimental moves with this ability as she is still learning how to manipulate this physical version of her anger, but she is certainly improving. This ability is very draining and so she can only maintain this form for thirty minutes or so, and usually will feel a bit emotionally dead afterwards from the anger overload.

Fire Manipulation/Pyrokineses - Due to getting her ass kicked when the Council of Twelve (a group of Angels that essentially ran Heaven up until the tribe and a rebellion of angels killed all but a few of them) decided to pay a visit this ability was revealed to her. Resha, and Angel who can command fires that can grow to be as hot as the Earth's core, engulfed her entirely in her boiling hot flames and sent her crashing to the ground in a pile of glass. This ability gives her some resistance to flames, and when it activated healed the varying burns across her body. Usually burns by that intense amount of flames do not heal that easily for her, but it occurred as the ability was awakened. This power is not as strong or as easy for her to control as her sand, however she has a rather good grasp on it due to her willpower. She is working on building up endurance with this and getting her flames to be hotter. Resha sometimes tutors her.

Weapon: Divine Weapon: Adalwin - It appears to just be a regular longsword sword made out of a steel-like substance, but it is stronger than steel. It's hilt is made out of wood reinforced with iron. Or it used to be. Ever since she pulled her betrayal stunt to help her the tribe a way into heaven her 'allies' upgraded her weapon into a Divine Weapon since they considered her to be trustworthy. So now it does look like something you'd want to steal.

Weapon Properties:
Divine Weapon: Adalwin - This blade is very durable and it is unlikely that it will every be broken. It can deflect both physical and magical attacks and is a great focus for her fire ability. The blade will never melt and so it is perfectly fine to engulf it in flames. This way Tanner can control both her fire by focusing it through her sword but also control her sand and possibly more. This is simply until she gets used to controlling more of her abilities at once without the assistance of a focus.

Hellfire is this blades weakness. Her blade can harm demons but their fire is something that her blade was not built to resist. It will either corrupt the blade, or it will more likely destroy the blade.

Backstory: Tanner was born on April 2, 1997. Her mother was a Police Detective by the name of Marcella Keren Quince, an unrelenting force of determination and love. Her father was a less intimidating man by the name of Costel Krunal Quince. He was more easygoing and consistent with his behavior, but he was still very dedicated and passionate about his job both as a trainer of police canine units and a father. Her parents managed to balance their rather time consuming jobs and the responsibilities as her parents very well, and so Tanner grew up with strong role models. She was somewhat of a favorite at her parents workplace since they did have to drag her to work with them quite often when she was younger. Since they were on the force they couldn't work out their hours so that they'd always be home for Tanner and so they left her at the station while they did their jobs very frequently. The Police Chief had no problems with Tanner hanging around her parents desks because she proved herself to be very well behaved and followed instructions rather well for her age. So long as she didn't become a distraction for the other officers or become a problem in some other way, she could stay. The other officers found her presence to be uplifting because who doesn't like to see a curious bright-eyed child? She often talked with the officers when they were on their breaks, and she kinda became that stations mascot. One day Tanner went up to the police chief while her parents were out on patrol and asked him if there was anything she could do to help around the station. She admitted that she'd been rather bored lately, and also admitted that she'd been considering exploring in places that she shouldn't because she was so bored. Most of the officers that she interacted with were familiar with her brutally honest behavior by now, but the busy chief of course didn't know much about her save for the fact that she hadn't been a problem and was a nice kid. Her honesty impressed him and he told her that he'd talk it over with her parents. He assured her that he would probably be able to find something for her to do. Her father was off for a week after that because one of the more difficult dogs had gotten..violent. Her father had a week off to let his semi-deep bite heal up a bit, and so it was a week until Tanner could find out what she'd be doing at the station. Her childhood curiosity had her dying to know, and she was a little ball of pure energy when she was finally taken back to the station. A few of the less busy officers had set up a little surprise for her to her surprise. The chief presented her with a unique little police badge that read 'Police Kid' instead of police officer. Tanner also was given a little hat before being told that her first assignment was to help sort a few files. Her excitement made that rather boring task seem like nothing but a brief placeholder. It had been a test to see if she had been serious about wanting to help as things turned out, and her work ethic scored her a more interesting assignment. The Chief wanted her to help a new officer get into the swing of things around the office and help her feel more at home. This officer was a woman known as Officer Wendel, and she'd been transferred over from another division. Tanner didn't quite understand about all the division and being transferred over mumbo jumbo (she was five at the time) but she was ready to help! The Chief also told her to take notes on what she noticed about Officer Wendel as well, and when she asked what he meant by that, he told her it was like profiling someone. She was to get familiar with Wendel and write down what she noticed about her personality traits-just describe her. The Chief didn't expect terribly much from this on the profiling part, but Tanner knew enough about the layout of the station to show Wendel around and some of the basic protocols and rules. Plus she could help find people that Wendel would get along with by describing the officers she hung out with on occasion. Wendel's partner could do the rest when they were on patrol. This assignment was what sparked the hidden manipulative side of Tanner, and this assignment also went in a very unexpected direction.

Analysis of Officer Wendal
She doesn't seem to like me very much. - Day 1

I asked her if I could call her Wendy since we're friends now, and she agreed! She seemed like she didn't wanna at first. - Day 2

She gave me a nickname to! It's a secret though cause she said it's a code name! She's a lot nicer to me now, and she started taking to Officer Mike all on her own! - Day 3

I can't keep it a secret. My code name's Tan-Tan! I don't like it as much as Tanna Banana (my parents call me that :3) but it's still cool! She didn't wanna talk to the others today before she left with her partner for patrol. She said it was an 'off day' or something. - Day 4

Only three more days until I don't have to write anymore. I asked her if we can still exchange little notes signed with our code names when I don't have to show her around anymore. She pinky swore that she would. - Day 5

Wendy's being weirder today. It's weirder cause she was weird yesterday! She got into a really loud shouting fight with Officer Ginny. Her partner had to drag her out.. She didn't even say she was sorry a lot like Mommy and Daddy do if they fight. She left her computer on though, and so I went to 'log her off' like Mommy showed me when I saw this message. There were some really big words but I copied it down for you anyway, Chief! - Day 6

I think Wendy wants to be bad like the criminals Mommy finds. I asked her about the message and she got mad. She asked me to keep it a secret like my code name. I said I would. Then she asked if I told anyone and I said I hadn't. Wendy called me a good girl and told me she was gonna try and make some friends again cause she hadn't been talking to the other officers except her partner. When she came back over she took me to the lobby and told me she was gonna get me a treat from the vending machines. I got a cookie and thanked her a whole bunch even though Mommy and Daddy don't want me to take food like that from anyone. I was scared so I was gonna go with what she wanted. She told me a bit bout her plan and since we're friends she asked me to help. I smiled really big and told her 'of course Wendy!'. I didn't really wanna help her. I'd told her about my first job with sorting files day two and so she asked me to sneak her one. I told her I could try, and she begged me to not give her up if I got caught. Said I was a kid so they'd be nice about it. I went to get her one but then I thought about Mommy and Daddy. So I wrote this stuff down real quick. I'm gonna tell an officer..I hope I can. - Day 7

Officer Wendel was cuffed and interrogated shortly after Tanner told on her, and Tanner asked if she could go home. She was very shaken about her betrayal. The whole office was talking about it and it made her really scared because she'd trusted Officer Wendel at first. She didn't want to go back when Monday rolled around but she had to. Tanner was really upset with her parents for making her, but she later understood that they had jobs they had to do. The Chief let her sit in a corner of his office so that she'd be away from all the people and noise. The Station worked up another surprise for her to try and cheer her up on their spare minutes off. On the Friday of that week after a majority of the officers shift had ended she was given a little pin for helping catch Wendel. Afterwards they had cake and Tanner was back to being happy for the most part. She helped out with simpler things when she got it all and was really sad to say goodbye when she turned six. Kindergarten awaited her, but she still did get to seem them sometimes. Her parents weren't always off when school was over so her Dad often swung by real quick and picked her up. Then she was dropped off at the station for an hour or two until one of her parents got off. Kindergarten allowed her to rediscover her old ways of trusting people right off the bat due to her peers young innocent age. This habit died by third grade, but for awhile it was rekindled. At night her parents took turns telling her stories before she went to bed, and her mother told her favorite ones. Not that she'd ever say that to her Dad. Her mother told her about the supernatural and taught her about werewolves and their packs, and when she turned seven she was told the story of her mothers family. Her mother was a descendant of the Kassi line, which was well known for their horrid curse back in the older days. This curse usually came with the birth of a werewolf child, which was a rare occurrence for their line. Every generation or so would yield one or two werewolves and with this came a dangerous ability that had consumed all those who wielded it. Not a single one had made it past their teen years. Both of her parents were human but her mother's DNA is what made it possible for Tanner to be a werewolf. The Kassi line descended from an old pack of pureblood werewolves. The Kassi's began to marry more humans and produced children with more and more diluted blood as time went on. Eventually it got to the point where the werewolf trait was a recessive trait among the descendants because it was just so diluted. This was hundreds of years ago around the time of the Salem Witch Trials, but this was the beginning of the curse. For centuries death followed the family, but now in the modern day people have forgotten about their notorious habit to keel over dead before their twenties. Tanner's excitement over the possibility of being a werewolf made her completely unaware of the fact that her mother was worried-frightened of the possibility. She didn't want Tanner to die because of some family curse, and nor did her father. She was oblivious of this fear, and her parents let her dream while quietly praying that she didn't turn out to be a werewolf. Things in her life began to change, and this change made Tanner want to be a werewolf more than anything. When she was in fifth grade a group of boys began to pick on her and her small group of friends. In seventh grade she began to get into physical fights with these bullies and soon proved that it was a terrible idea to get on her bad side. She was still a good, obedient kid, but she refused to not stand up for herself. She'd formed her own set of beliefs from watching her parents, who were very convicted in their own, and she was going to stand by what she believed. This led to her fighting with her parents, and their adoption of a dog. Her first dog was a German Shepard named Toby, and she took him on walks daily. She was a very athletic kid, and the dogs presence soothed the tension in the family. She often went to parks or went to purchase a few necessities on the request of her parents on these walks. They knew that their kid was street smart as well as book smart both from her grades and the evidence left from her fights. Plus she had Toby with her so they were certain that she'd be safe. These outings brought her into the company of kids that thought they were pretty cool. The whole bad boy and badass vibe. She never spoke with any of them but she did pick up a few of their habits. Mainly in the way they dressed, although her style was more 'cool detective' than 'cool gal'. When she turned fifteen she finally encountered her wolf spirit, which proved that she was in fact a werewolf. Her mother had told her about how strong and wise a werewolf's wolf spirit was, and at first Tanner was overjoyed. Then Miki, her wolf spirit, told her straight off that she was weak. She wasn't like other wolf spirits. Tanner was angry, and she took out that anger on those around her. She did a complete one eighty on her personality. The rebellious teenager phase called to her, and she dove in headfirst. She began wearing iron knuckles gloves and hanging out with the wrong crowds. She snuck out to party with her 'friends' as well as smack each other around a bit. Fight club in essence. Tanner began to cuss and argue with her parents constantly, and it got even worse when Toby died. Over a summer her parents sent her to stay with her mother's sister, Luana, so that she could learn how to shift. It hurt like hell. Since her werewolf blood was so diluted it made shifting a painful process and a longer one. When school came around again she was notorious for getting into trouble, although she maintained decent grades. They were certainly not her best, but her parents were just relieved that she kept her grades in mind somewhere... Tanner's sixteen birthday rolled around, and the day after she got a slapped in the face by reality. Her mother was murdered, and the worst of it all was the fact that it was her fault. Her mother had been assigned a particular murder case that had the city abuzz, and in her way home she'd stopped to get coffee and then decided to walk the rest of the way home. [She'd taken a taxi]. Her thoughts had been focused on her rebellious daughter and because of this she hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings like usual. Ellis Parks, the culprit behind the serial killings that Tanner's mother was trying to solve, came out of an alleyway and killed her. If she had been alert like she usually was then she would have had ample time to pull her own gun and escape unscathed. Tanner stopped hanging out with the wrong crowd. She stopped picking fights. Her father tried to assure her that it wasn't her fault but the police had found evidence that backed Tanner's theory. Her mother had talked about her to her coworkers. Some of them were officers that she'd befriended as a young kid, and they'd been shocked about how much she'd changed. Her coworkers also reported that her mother had been distracted as of late, and they all knew that it was because she was fretting over her daughter. It took time but eventually she made amends with her father, but there was always a void that they couldn't fill. Her father came home with a wolfdog one day and they named her Marcy after her mother. Not long after she encountered Miki in a dream. Her wolf spirit spoke of arid desserts and sandy dunes. She described the tough conditions of the desserts and how sand had a habit of wearing others down. Miki told Tanner of the ability her mother had vaguely spoke of when she had described her family curse, and said that it could be hers. Some had accepted this power from her spirit wolf-sisters and brothers, but they had all been worn down by the power over time. They could not stand against the river of power that it brought, or the rough nature of sand. Miki told her that she thought that she could, that Tanner might be the one to be able to withstand it. She had seen something in the girl, she had seen her will. Tanner never expected to hear something like this, especially from Miki. She came to the realization that if she accepted this power then she might be able to protect those she cares about. She didn't think she could stand to loose anyone else, not after her mother died. So she accepted Miki's offer, and Miki padded forward and touched her slightly damp nose to her forehead, and the power was hers. Tanner woke in a cold sweat the next day, and for the next few years she struggled with her new power. It almost consumed her like all those before her, but Miki reminded Tanner of who she was. The weak wolf spirit told Tanner that it was by her  own power that she had made it as far as she had. Tanner was strong while she was weak. Tanner was brave while she was a coward. Tanner was still standing after experiencing a horrible loss. Without Miki she would have fallen like her ancestors before her, and she became her confident, cursing self again. After that Tanner didn't see Miki for a long time, but that was okay. She harnessed her abilities and learned to make them her own. A simple extension of herself. A year or two went by where she worked the odd job and lived with her Dad, but eventually she couldn't ignore the urge to find someplace new. Her father told her that he understood. He said that her mother had been the same way, and the he'd waited for her to find her way home once. He could wait for Tanner to. With her father's blessing she set off to find a place free from lingering memories-a place where her past circumstances wouldn't define her in the eyes of others. She sought out a fresh start, and The New Tides Pack offered the perfect opportunity. At first she was hesitant to join a group of strangers, but the packs Alpha made a good impression on her. Alpha Jinx was someone she could respect. Tanner joined their ranks and displayed her tactical way of fighting. It was clear that she was fit to be an Elite. She spent a few weeks learning battlefield first aid before she was instated as an Elite. Her ambitious nature and her will drove her up the ranks until she managed to become the Lead Elite. Not even a few months later a strange woman accompanied by raptors showed up, and Tanner managed to impress Alpha Jinx by confidently demanding to know her purpose. This confuses her greatly since it is one of her most embarrassing moments in her eyes since she literally curled up in a ball and hid herself under a dome of sand when the raptor lady temporarily removed her sight, but she won't argue. She was promoted to Beta, and one day her friend decided to go on a journey. Alpha Jinx left the tribe and Dejanah, the Luna, rose to become the Alpha. Her time spent under Dejanah and the new Luna, Acacia, was a rollercoaster. She was inhibited and used against her pack once by a possessed angel, twisted her ankle by accidentally stepping on someone's wrist during a spar, screaming at two packmates for being idiots, being a manipulative asshole by betraying her family to side with angels to get them a way into Heaven to rescue some packmates that had been kidnapped. There's a lot. Somewhere in there the pack was renamed and became the Solstice Tribe, but since Tanner is a stubborn ass half the time she still refers to it as a pack. Tanner was the first of Kassi descent that bad Sand Manipulation to make it to her twenties, but she was almost consumed by her power again. When she betrayed the Solstice Tribe she tore her morals to shreds. Everything she stood for died, and her will was shattered. Her sand wouldn't obey her anymore. In fact she managed to stop the process mid-way by forgiving herself and reforging her will. Tanner learned to not doubt her decisions, especially those that she has made for the sake of her pack. As time went on children began to fill the pack, and eventually Dejanah stepped down so that she could put her new family first. Luna Acacia then passed the Alpha title down to her, and now the Solstice Tribe has a stereotype defying oxymoron of a woman in charge. Acacia still serves as her Luna, and Dejanah has always been there for her when she's needed her. Throughout her journey she's unlocked two more abilities other than her Sand Manipulation, and her wolf spirit has been hinting at there being a bigger picture that she can't see. Alpha Tanner is excited for what the future will hold.

Pack Talisman:

Other: Tanner is hardly a werewolf at all. She only has just enough werewolf blood in her veins to shift, and it is generally painful for her to do. However over the years she has grown used to this pain so it doesn't bother her as much anymore and she doesn't really show that she even feels pain from it. During battle or important situations she can force herself to shift quickly as it actually takes her around three to five minutes to shift. This causes her more pain than usual however. So essentially she just has really diluted blood. Yay.
