CHAPTER TWENTY NINE - PSYCHO
KILLER

Eleanor woke up the next morning to the smell of pancakes and coffee which was weird because Leon's usually at work when she wakes up. Throwing on an oversized jumper she then walked downstairs to see Leon in fact cooking some pancakes in a pan with a cup of coffee in his other hand.

Leon turned around the sudden noise of someone walking in the kitchen. He smiled when he saw niece "Hey sweetheart, I made you and John B some breakfast. I hope he likes pancakes"

Eleanor let out a small chuckle while taking a seat on one of the stools at the breakfast counter "I'm sure he will Leon" She thanked him when he passed a cup of steaming hot coffee "Aren't you meant to be at work by now?"

"I'm the boss Eli" Leon said as he grabbed two plates out the cupboard above him "I'll go in when I like"

Eleanor raised her eyebrows with a smile as she put her hands up in defence "My bad, boss"

Leon plated up the pancakes, shaking his head with a smile "God you are just like your dad" He then placed the plate in front of her and handed her the maple syrup when John B walked in half asleep.

"Hey, morning John B, got some pancakes here for ya" John B nodded as he took a seat next to Eleanor and then a plate full of pancakes were soon in front of him "You want anything to drink? Coffee?"

"Yeah just some coffee thanks" He then took a bite of his pancake after pouring a ton of maple syrup all over them "Okay this just might be the best food I've ever tasted"

"Don't say that you'll make his ego grow even bigger" Eleanor joked as Leon passed John B a cup of coffee before putting on his suit jacket.

"Hey! You love my cooking" He pointed at her with a smile. Grabbing his keys he stopped next to Eleanor on the way to the door and kissed her forehead "I gotta get going so you two stay out of trouble while I'm gone all right? I love you El"

"I love you too!" She called out before he walked out the door as it shut behind him.

The two continued to eat their food when John B's phone buzzed on the counter next to him. John B frowned when he saw who it was "Holy shit Wards just texted me"

Eleanor nearly choked on her pancakes "Ward as in Ward Cameron? Sarah's dad?" He nodded before he began to read the text to her.

"He says that he's sorry for being too harsh when he fired me. It was only a small indiscretion which I was honest about it. He has a job for me that pays good money and told me to come talk to him at his house"

Eleanor took their two plates and put them in the sink "So what you gonna do?"

"Tell him thanks but no thanks" John B said like it was obvious "El, we're about to be four hundred million dollars richer. It's a no brainer"

"Yeah but that'll just make Ward more suspicious. He'll already be wondering why Sarah's spending so much time with us so I think you should go and anyway what's the worst that could happen right?" She shrugged, taking a sip of her coffee.

John B sighed "Yeah I guess you're right"

"And I can go with you to talk to him if ya want and then we can pick Sarah up while we're there and then go meet JJ, Kie and Pope"

John B looked up at her and smiled "Sounds like a plan"

Eleanor and John B drove over to the Cameron estate where they met up with Sarah "Okay so what's the plan again?" Sarah asked.

"After this we're gonna take the gold to the pawnshop and then Pope was on about putting it in a bank account"

"How many bars?" Eleanor asked, smiling.

"I don't know it was all muddy. I think it was like five hundred. Maybe six hundred, I don't know. Could be a thousand. It was all muddy, but it was everywhere. Covering the walls, stacks of it. Four hundred million dollars, it's all there!"

"Hey, that's crazy!" Sarah exclaimed "So how do we get it out of there?"

"Okay, so, Pope has a plan. . .basically takes a pulley system. . ." John B didn't get to say anymore when Ward came out and started to walk over to the three of them.

"Hey! You made it" He smiled and then saw Eleanor stood next to John B "Eleanor it's good to see you again"

"You too Ward" She smiled politely at him.

"So you said you had a job for me, Mr Cameron?"

"Yes a fishing trip, just you and me tomorrow morning. First light" Ward explained "We have a lot of family coming over tomorrow so I need all hands on deck, can I count on you John B?"

"Yes Mr Cameron. I'll be here first thing tomorrow morning" John B reluctantly agreed as Sarah frowned, she wasn't told that any of their family was coming over tomorrow but she just shrugged it off on the fact that her dad didn't tell her much these days.

"All right. It's gonna be good now I'll see you kids later okay? Sarah stay out of trouble and be safe please"

"Will do dad" She gave him an awkward smile before they walked back to the Twinkie to go and pick up the rest of the Pogues who had been waiting for them. While they were speaking to Ward they had managed to melt down the chunk of gold to get rid of the wheat symbol and now they were pulling up to the pawn shop that they were gonna sell the lump of gold to.

"Hell of a job melting it down, Dr. Frankenstein" JJ rolled his eyes at Kiara for the poor melting down job on the gold.

"Like you could've done better" Kiara retorted, glaring at the boy.

"I could have, I took a welding class"

"Woah, hey. Sh! Chill out, okay?" John B stopped the both of them from bickering.

"Easy for you to say. You're not the one that has to pawn this piece of shit off. How did I get this job anyway?"

"Cause you're the best liar" Pope replied.

"Exactly now get in there blondie" Eleanor shoved him into the shop, the bell ringing as the rest of them piled in while going around the store to look at things or pretending to anyway.

JJ began bargaining with the woman at the counter but she wasn't buying it so she did all the tests to try and prove it was fake. When it all proved to be real, she went to her office with a confused look on her face and in about ten minutes she was back with an offer.

"So, I, uh talked to my boss and uh, this is what I can do"

"Fifty thousand? You think I walked in here not knowin' the spot price? Ma'am I know for a fact that this is worth 140, at least"

"Well, sweetie, you in a pawnshop. This ain't Zurich. Do I look Swiss to you?"

"Ninety, or I walk"

"Seventy. Half price and, um, I don't ask questions about where you got this" She said quietly.

"I'm gonna need that in large denominations, please"

"Well, here's the snag. I don't have that much denominated, not here anyway. I can write you a cashier's check"

"No ma'am. I want the cold hard. That's what the sign says. Cash for gold and that's what I expect. I'm gonna get it in cold hard"

"Well, I have to send you to the warehouse. I have the money there. Is that all right?"

"Where's this warehouse?" JJ asked before getting  all the details.

"You believing this shit?" Eleanor asked John B in disbelief as they were walking back to the Twinkie "Cmon John B, something ain't right here"

"It'll be fine El" John B slung his arm over her shoulder "Everything's gonna work out and we're gonna get this gold"

"I really hope so John B"

"So they keep money out here?" Pope asked as he looked out the window.

"That's what she said" JJ chuckled "That's what she said"

"Stop" Pope quickly shut him up causing the boy to frown.

"I've never heard of Resurrection Drive" Sarah then said as she was also staring out the window.

"Cause you're rich"

"You've never heard of it either" Kiara rolled her eyes at JJ. Sarah smiled at Kie for sticking up for her "There's nothing but weeds back here"

"Yeah perfect place to hide a body yet you all think they have the gold stashed here somewhere" Eleanor said casually resulting in everyone turning to look at her "What? I was obviously joking god you guys need to lighten up a bit"

"All right, just cause it's just weeds, doesn't mean it's, like. . ." JJ tried to come up with something when the sound of sirens cut him off.

"God! Are you kidding me? What did we do?"

"Stash that" Kiara refereed to the lump of gold "I hate cops. Did you bring the gun?"

"No, okay? Everybody told me to leave it back at my place"

Kiara nearly let out a sigh of relief when Eleanor said "Well it doesn't matter cause I've got mine on me" She shrugged as Kiara groaned.

"Okay it doesn't matter just please put everything else in your bag"

"I am! I am, all right?"

"How much weed do you have on you, bro?" Kiara asked him as Pope alerted everyone that the cop was walking up to the van.

"Why don't I go ahead and see them hands in the air?" Barry said at John B's window with a shotgun in his hands "All y'all's hands up in the air now! Out of the car! Let's go! Hurry!"

Everyone slowly got out of the van in fear that Barry may shoot any one of them but Eleanor, she was calm as could be and instead figuring out a way to get them out of this mess.

Her and John B must've been thinking the same thing as they both were looking at Barry's car. She nodded at him to tell him that one of them had to get in Barry's car and John B was laid closest to it.

"Hey I said lay down in the ditch and get on your goddamn hands and knees!" Barry shouted at Eleanor who was the only one still standing "Are you fucking deaf?! Get down!"

"Is this how you talk to all the girls?" She looked at him with a raised eyebrow as she saw John B slowly moving out the corner of her eye. Her distraction tactics were working.

"Eleanor just do as he says!" Sarah called out from her place on the floor.

"Who the fuck do you think you are huh?" He yelled "I'll blow your fucking brains all over this goddamn road, you hear me?!" He then pushed the shotgun against her head.

"Don't you fucking touch her man!" JJ yelled as he went to get up but Pope had yanked him back down.

"Then pull the trigger nobody's stopping you" She watched as Barry's hands were shaking as he pressed the gun harder into her forehead.

"I will if you don't get on your fucking hands and knees with your head down!" Eleanor didn't say anything after that because she noticed that John B had got into his car. Barry then pushed Eleanor away, the gun now pointing at her chest "Now you all stay here just like that! Don't let me see you look up! All right?"

Barry had got into the Twinkie, rummaging through everything until he found the gold "All right I've had enough of this shit" Barry turned around only to be met with the end of Eleanor's gun as he fell to the ground.

"That wasn't part of the plan El!" John B shouted as he got out of Barry's car with the keys in his hand.

"What's the difference?" She shrugged as the rest of the Pogues got up off the ground, working together to beat the shit out of Barry as he ended up leaning against his own car. Sarah even got a hit in as she hit him with his own door.

"I know this piece of shit! He's a basehead!" JJ said after taking off his balaclava that went up to his nose.

"Probably knows my brother" Sarah muttered, running a hand through her hair.

"He sells coke to my dad!"

"Listen, I couldn't hurt any single one of y'all..." Barry started but Eleanor wasn't having none of it.

"You sure about that because a few minutes ago you were pointing a gun at my head!" She spat before kicking him in the ribs as he groaned.

"Eleanor!"

"El, chill, dude!"

But Eleanor continued to throw punch after punch until she was satisfied as Barry's face was covered in blood "El he's had enough!" She then heard John B say as she pulled herself away. She took a quick look at John B before going over to the Twinkie as the Pogues all stood there in shock. They've never seen her like that before.

John B then threw his car keys in the forest "Come on, let's get outta of here"

However JJ had different plans as he had already grabbed Barry's wallet "We got one last stop. Let's go see where this son of a bitch lives"

"I'm gonna remember this shit!" Barry yelled as they all got back into the van "You can't hide from me! I know exactly who y'all are! You're gonna see me again! You hear me? I'mma see you again!"
