CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT - FULL KOOK

"You got rope? Grappling hook?" John B began to list of their items that they apparently needed.

"No grappling hook. We're not batman" Pope rolled his eyes.

"Pulley?" John B continued, totally ignoring Pope.

"Check"

"Dark clothes and flashlights?"

"Check and check"

"All right, good" John B finished the list as they pulled up to the house that looked even scarier in the dark "We're ready"

"Let's go get rich, guys" JJ grinned, opening the van door.

"Hell, yeah" Kiara added.

"Wait, wait" John B sighed as he looked at them all "I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight"

"Always" Kiara replied as Eleanor and Sarah smiled at him softly.

"Of course, man" Pope said as he and John B did their handshake.

"And you know we'd do it all again for you" Eleanor said making his cheeks heat up slightly.

"All right, we done with the circle jerk? Can we go do this?" JJ then snapped, breaking up the sentimental moment as he pushed past them all and jumped out the van.

"Yeah, let's get that wheat in the water" Pope then got out the van next as JJ looked at him.

"Weed? I'm up for weed"

"Wheat. JJ, I said wheat"

The Pogues then began walking through the Crain house lawn but when they got closer to the deck they realised she had sensor lights.

"Shit!"

"Oh, shit!"

"Go, go, go, go. Flashlights!" Kie whispered.

"JJ your fucking light!" Eleanor nudged JJ who was trying to get his flashlight to turn off.

"It's on strobe!" JJ argued before finally turning it off as they all crouched down behind a bush while trying to catch their breath.

"Okay, so she has motion sensor lights" Pope said after a minute.

"We could, uh. . .move really slowly, maybe?" JJ shrugged as everyone turned to look at him "What?"

"Okay who brought blondie over here?" Eleanor pointed at him as he gave her the middle finger in response.

"Guys, focus! Let's throw a rock at it" John B said like it was even better than JJ's idea.

"That's really a good idea" Kiara rolled her eyes "Let the axe murderer know that we're here"

"You guys are useless" Eleanor said, looking directly at John B and JJ "Just putting it out there"

"You have a better idea?"

"Literally anything but that" Eleanor retorted "And anyways shouldn't there be like a power box out here or something? Ya know shut them off and we're good to go"

Sarah nodded "I know where the breaker is, it's in the circuit box on the porch. We used to play hide-and-seek here as kids and if we were brave enough, we'd go all the way up to the porch. I've seen it"

"Then it's settled then. Me, Sarah and Kie will go up there and turn them off. It'll be like a girls trip" Eleanor shrugged.

"No, no. You're not going into that house never mind all three of you" John B told her.

"Watch me" Eleanor stood up slightly from her crouched position when John B grabbed her arm and pulled her back down.

"Crain chops people into pieces" JJ scrunched up his face as he said it.

"If you believe that, she's like what, 85? She's probably barely still kicking"

"And anyway the only person who will be doing the chopping is me if Mrs Crain even tries to hurt us" Eleanor rolled her eyes once again as she motioned for Sarah and Kie to follow her "Come on, let's go"

"Hey, be safe!" John B whispered.

Eleanor nodded "We will" And they were off.

"Be safe" JJ pretended to be John B as he looked into Pope's eyes.

"I'll be safe for you" Pope played along.

"Can you guys stop? Stop!" John B quietly yelled "I'm gonna kill you"

"But how would that keep us safe?" Pope whispered as John B just glared at the both of them.

The three were waiting for the signal when Pope randomly asked "Just asking, do you think Eleanor would actually chop Crain into pieces?"

JJ looked at him and nodded "It's Eleanor so yeah she would"

The girls had now reached the door but there relief was short lived when they realised the cords all lead into the house meaning they had to venture inside.

The three quietly and slowly walked inside "All right" Sarah whispered when they had finally found the breaker. Shutting it down which was the signal for the boys to get down to the basement.

However, just as they were about to leave to meet back up with the boys when Eleanor heard a creak from the staircase "Shit" She mumbled when they saw Mrs Crain stood at the top.

"It's. . .it's late, Leon. Too late" Crain coughed as she started to slowly make her way down the stairs. The girls were pressed up against the wall while trying not to make a sound.

"I can hear you, Leon. I've been waiting all night!" Mrs Crain continued.

"Did his name really have to be Leon" Eleanor whispered, suddenly shutting up when Crain walked right in front of them before spinning around to face them with a fire poker in her hand causing Sarah to naturally screamed as her and Kie ran straight away.

"Go, go, go!" Eleanor yelled from behind them.

"Leon!" Mrs. Crain screeched "Where are you, Leon?"

"The basement!" Eleanor mouthed to the girls as they ran towards the locked door as Kiara started fumbling around with the lock.

"Kie move" Eleanor said, taking out her gun from the waistband of her pants before shooting the lock of the door. They then pushed open the door and ran straight down into the basement. Luckily the boys were pulling John B back up.

"Hey what's going on?" JJ asked when he noticed how startled the girls were and the fact that Eleanor still had her gun clutched tightly in her hands.

"Mrs. Crain! She's up there! She tried to kill us with a fire poker" Kie told him as she and Sarah were panting heavily.

"We gotta get the fuck out like now" Eleanor added, slipping her gun back to where it originally was "I don't know how long we have but this a goddamn code red guys!"

John B was now on the floor of the basement trying to catch his breath as he kept mumbling about something that no one could make out or had time to stop and listen "John B that means you too, let's go!"

Eleanor pulled him up to his feet when a sound of a gunshot went off "Shit!"

"Go, go!" Pope yelled as everybody started to run out of the basement. The gunshots kept going off giving Eleanor and JJ quite the adrenaline rush.

"God she can't aim for shit!" Eleanor yelled as they all finally made over the fence.

"Why are we always getting shot at?" Pope said as they jumped into the Twinkie with JJ in the drivers seat.

"JJ, drive! Go, man!"

"Are you okay? Are you shot?" JJ asked John B who let out a small no as they all took a minute to get their breath back.

"I think I'd know if I was shot, right?" Kiara asked, looking down at herself as Eleanor nodded.

"God you look disgusting" Eleanor told John B "And you smell like ass"

"What the hell just happened?" Sarah asked, throwing her head back with a smile.

"All-time Pogue Hall of Fame, baby" JJ said from the front as he turned his head slightly to look at them.

"That bitch is possessed" Kiara said as everyone nodded in agreement.

"That bitch can't aim" Eleanor said, running a hand through her hair when she noticed something in John B's hand. He looked up at her with a smile as he started slowly wiping away the dirt to reveal the gold chunk he had found.

Eleanor's jaw dropped "No, you didn't!"

"We did it, baby!" John B screamed, holding up the gold for everyone to see as the Pogues started laughing.

"That's gold!" JJ shouted as they all continued to shout and cheer.

"Holy shit! Guys, we're gonna be rich!" Kiara smiled. The Pogues then began to chant aimlessly "Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook! Full Kook!"
