CHAPTER FOURTEEN - DISTRACTION

It was around nine AM in the morning and the group of teenagers, where sitting in the HMS Pogue just enjoying the sun before they had to get back to the whole treasure hunt thing.

"I'm fine, I spent the night at John B's. I'll explain everything when I come home tonight, love you" Pressing the send button, Eleanor sighed reading the text once more before putting it away when she heard JJ whistling.

"You guys see that?" JJ glanced at everyone "That's the Malibu 24-MXZ, the world's finest wakesetter. Number one in luxury, quality, and performance. 200k easy"

"We picked the wrong parents" Pope added in while Kiara frowned when she realised who's boat it was.

"I hate to break it to you guys, but that's Topper and his girlfriend" And as the boat got closer, it was proving the curly haired girl was correct. Topper was driving the boat with his arm around Sarah's shoulder.

Eleanor glanced at them for a second while grabbing a corona from Kie's cooler "If looks could kill" She muttered, sitting back down next to Pope.

"You don't have to act like you don't see us bitch" Kie said loud enough for them to hear as the two boats passed each other.

It was now coming up to ten O'clock as the pogues and Eleanor were in the Twinkie as John B drove to the hotel that was on Figure Eight because the Kooks were the only ones with electricity right now.

"All right, keep a look out. We're behind enemy lines" JJ said, pulling the gun out of the glovebox.

"Yo, come on, man. Just put it back" John B told him, already getting bored of his bullshit.

"What?" JJ shrugged "You can never be too careful"

"Hey, I predict that bringing a weapon to a four-star hotel will likely cause more problems than they solve" Pope glared at him.

"Thank you, Pope" John B put his arms up dramatically, pointing at the boy genius.

"I swear to God, I'm gonna throw that thing in the ocean, JJ!" Kiara warned him "Put it back"

"God" Eleanor moved forward, grabbing the gun from JJ's hand and shoving it back inside the glove box "There you go, sorted. Now can we please go inside?"

"You're no fun" JJ moaned and got out of the van only to stop when he realised he didn't have his 'badge' "Can't forget my badge. Professional busboy"

Eleanor rolled her eyes playfully as JJ took the lead of walking into the hotel and as soon as they were in the computer room, Pope was the first to jog over and sit down at a desk "Sweet Lord, the internet!"

"Let me get in there" JJ said as they all gathered around where Pope was sat "Gotta check out my insta models real quick"

"We don't have time" Kiara said while Pope just ignored him and instead typed in the coordinates John B had gave him.

"Shit, it's on the high side. It's only 900 feet" John B shrugged as Pope looked at the boy like he was stupid.

"That's not too deep" JJ said, agreeing with John B.

"So it's doable?" Kiara asked what her and Eleanor were both thinking.

JJ nodded "Totally doable"

"And will we be taking your personal submarine?" Pope asked sarcastically while rolling his eyes.

"How do you know this, Mr. Dive Master?"

"The salvage yard" JJ said it like it was obvious "They got a drone that can drop 1,000. It has a 360 camera and everything. It's for, like, deep dives and stuff. It's exactly what we need"

"Can your dad get his grimy little hands on that?"

"Well, my dad's grimy little hands got his ass fired. Turns out, the salvage captain frowns on showing up shitfaced but the drone's there. It's in the impound yard out back" JJ reassured.

"How much did you say was on the Royal Merchant again?" Kiara asked.

"400 million"

"No! Absolutely not!" Pope protested as he stood in the way of the exit "We're not doing this!"

"Pope, move" Kie said before JJ walked over and lightly pushed the boy out the way.

"Come on Pope, you wanna pay for college in advance right?" Eleanor smirked and walked out after John B. The boy sighed before complying.

"Can't we do anything legal for once!" Pope shouted after them.

"I hate this already" Eleanor said, taking her hair out of its ponytail as it fell down her back. She fluffed it up a bit while using the passenger side window as a mirror.

"You and me both" Kiara said as she looked at the girl.

"Hey, don't worry. You guys got this" John B reassured them but the two just looked at each other and laughed.

"It's not me that I'm worried about" Kiara said before her and Eleanor made their way into the salvage yard with Kie's family boat.

"Let's hope JJ's stupid plan actually works" Kiara looked at Eleanor and nodded before walking over to where the security guard was while El stood at the car.

"Hey! Excuse me!" The curly haired girl shouted and that was all it took to get the guys attention.

"Can I help you?" The guy asked while looking Kie up and down which didn't go unnoticed by either one of the girls.

"Hi! Um, me and my friend actually have a flat tire. I was wondering if maybe you could help us out?" She smiled and the man nodded before going back inside the security hut to grab his tools.

"Too easy" Eleanor whispered as she watched the man walk away and Kiara turned around to look at the girl with a small smirk on her face.

"Hey, thank you so much for this" Eleanor said to the man as he bent down to start working on the tire and that's when Kiara discreetly gave the boys the signal to sneak in.

"Yeah it's no problem at all" The man smiled "Been sitting in the yard too long?"

Eleanor nodded, sending him a fake smile back "Yeah" The two continued talking to the man about anything and everything when a dog started to bark in the salvage yard catching the girls attention.

"Do you hear that?" The guard asked them "I think Tebow's got something"

"It's probably just a raccoon, maybe. You know? Nothin' to worry about" Kiara lied while Eleanor went around the other side of the car to puncture the other tire.

"What are you doing?" The man asked with a frown.

"Erm, this one looked a little low too" Eleanor lied and that's when the guard realised what was going on as he rushed back to the salvage yard "Shit. Kie, we gotta go"

Kiara was quick to start the engine as the two got in the car and drove around the salvage yard where they found Pope and John B with the drone.

"Where's JJ?" Kiara asked the two boys when they were in car.

"We lost him when running away from that dog" Pope explained so Kie drove around again and that's when they saw JJ walking out of the entrance of the salvage yard with a small smile on his face.

"Thought you got caught their for a second, JJ" Eleanor said as he quickly got into the car.

"You was really doubting your boy?" JJ pretended to be hurt by what she said as he dramatically put his hand on his heart. Eleanor shook her head as she chuckled at the blonde.
