Chapter 6

"Come on Lil you have to eat." Devin said as he slid a plate over to me. I just shook my head and pushed it away. I was not eating until I knew my brother was okay. It's been nearly two hours since Mike left. No one has heard from him and I'm getting kind of worried. 

Devin kept trying to get me to eat but I refused. Even though my stomach went against my thoughts I just couldn't eat. Suddenly there was a light thumping noise that came from upstairs. I've been here long enough to see that I was in Devin's room. It was pretty spacious inside like my room, except he had more guy things in here though. Devin and I looked at each other then back up at the ceiling. Minutes passed before we heard a second thump, but this one sounded a little heavier than the first.

"Stay here." He said to me as he stood and proceeded up the steps. I quietly stood then followed behind him. Like hell I was going to stay here. What if it was intruders and they had the place surrounded? We went up to the top floor where me and Jacobs' room were housed and proceeded down the long narrow hall. He walked into Jay's room and I stood by the door not being seen.

"What happened?" I heard Devin ask.

"Took us a while to get rid of the father. He's lost a lot of blood, but he'll be okay once we place him in the recovery room after he's bandaged up." Another voice said.

"So where's Mike?" Devin asked again.

"I don't know. He was just with us a few minutes ago. But then he said he had to go do something and that he'll meet us here. He was pretty pissed about the whole thing." The voice answered from where I was standing it sounded like it was Keith.

"Yeah, he was pissed when he left here. Lilly has been worried sick about them two. She refuses to eat anything and she won't say two words to me. I've tried playing with her, talking to her, making her do something active, but nothing seems to work at all, I'm out of ideas!" Devin said in a loud whisper. 

Before I could hear more a pair of hands grabbed hold of me and covered my mouth before I could speak. At this point I was truly terrified, my body tensed up and I was seconds away from fighting them off. They carried me to my room and closed the door. I turned around with a quickness but stopped myself from going off once I saw the face of my capturer. A wave of relief washed over me as a wide smile began to form on my lips, I jumped in his arms and hugged him tight as tears streamed down my face.

"Shh. It's okay." He whispered in my ear. He rubbed my back in small cirlces and just held me close as I cried. 

Once I finally stopped I just looked into his eyes and we shared a deep passionate kiss. We finally pulled away and hugged once more. His arms went around my waist as he held me close. I could feel his whole body relax against mine as we staid in the embrace. I hugged him tighter wanting to get closer to him, wanting us to fuse together and never letting go. There was something about being in his arms at this particular moment that made me realize I'm not completely alone without Jacob. Mike will always be here for me no matter what happens between us, I'll always have him in my corner for support.

"What happened?" I asked frightened finally loosening my grip and taking a small step back.

"Just know everything is fine. I will not allow you to go back to that house ever again." He said as his hands went from my waist up to my face.

"What about Jay. Is he okay?"

"Right now he just needs to rest. But he'll be fine with a few days of recovery." He explained. We stood there for a few minutes before we shared another kiss. Then there was a knock on the door. I detached myself from Mike and opened the door. Devin was standing there with a plate of food and a teddy bear.

"You need to eat and Jacob wanted me to give you this." He said with a smile. "Oh and I already heated it up for you."

I couldn't do anything but laugh a little.  I took the plate and the bear and gave him a hug. "Thanks D."

"You're very welcome." He kissed my cheek then walked back downstairs. I closed my door and sat the items down on my table.

"You go ahead and eat, I am going to go check on Jacob and get cleaned up." Mike said as he took a step towards me. I hadn't noticed just how badly his body was bruised up until I really looked at him. He had welts on his chest, a few cuts on his face, and a small gash just above his right triceps. The weird thing was there was no sign that he was bleeding from any of it. I mentally shook myself and looked into his eyes and smiled.

"Okay." I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Remember you're safe with me. Don't be afraid to come to talk to me about anything, good or bad, it doesn't matter. I want to protect you and be there for you. Got it?" He said as he placed his forehead against mine.

I smiled and nodded my head yes. He then leans down and kissed my lips. After the kiss, we let go and he walked out of my room and headed towards Jay's room. I sat on my bed and ate my food as I flipped through channels. This isn't a life any teen should be living.
