Chapter Seven
Chapter 7
I laid on my bed just staring at the ceiling, thinking. I couldn't get those images out of my head. His wings, those eyes, that voice! It's like I was in another world, yet he comes back looking normal? My only question is; what is he?
I continue to think about the current events that took place earlier today. What did they do? What happened to my dad? I think that was the only question that has been bothering me. I know I didn't like him but I don't think he deserves to die, maybe sent to jail but not dead. My thoughts were soon interrupted by a slight knock on the door. I didn't answer because I didn't trust my voice at the moment, so I stayed quiet. The door slowly opened and in walked Mike. I just looked at him then back at the ceiling. His tall frame was soon towering over me within seconds.
"I can feel something was bothering you. What's wrong?" He asked in that smooth yet deep voice.
"Everything." I answered in a whisper. He nodded his head as he sat next to me.
"You're worried about your family aren't you?" He asked as he studied my body.
"What family? I have no family beside Jay." I answered while still staring at the ceiling.
"Trust me when I say everything is okay. There's no need to worry." He said calmly as he caressed my cheek. I turned my head and looked into his eyes. There was something different about them. I couldn't put my finger on it but I know there was something different about them.
"What happened to Jay?" I whispered. He didn't answer right away. He just sat there as if he was collecting his thoughts then he finally spoke.
"He's going to be okay."
"That wasn't my question, I want to know what happened to him." I said growing angry. Jacob was all I had, I wanted to know if I was going to be alone again.
Mike removed his hand from my face and just looked down at me. He took a deep breath before letting it out slowly.
"When I got there Jacob was still fighting your dad. I won't say things were pretty because they weren't. He tried getting away but your dad was too strong. There was another person there but I don't know who it was. I was able to get Jacob out before more damage was done to him. I called my friend to come to help me out. We tried our best to stop the bleeding, but he was severely hurt. I had Keith bring Jacob back to the house while I staid to set things straight. And no I didn't kill anybody, it's not in me to kill just harm. After I left your house I heard sirens going off so I fled. After that, I don't know what happened." He answered truthfully.
I slowly sat up as he told me all of this. I wanted to cry but I didn't have enough energy to do so. "What are you?" I asked in a tremulous voice. I no longer wanted to be here, nor home. But I had no choice, there was nowhere for me to go. Even though Mike and his friends will always be there for me, I won't feel completely safe around them until I find out the truth.
He stood up never taking his eyes off me. He stood in the middle of the floor and bowed his head. He closed his eyes and whispered something under his breath. When he looked back up at me his eyes where a crystal blue, then large wings soon sprouted from his back. I backed up against the wall staring at him in shock. So I wasn't dreaming earlier. I thought to myself.
"My love, you ask of my past and my past I shall tell you." He said as he placed his right hand over his chest. "I am a Fallen Angel from the Heavens above. I was cast down on a mission, I am not to return to the Heavens until it is complete."
"What is your mission?" I asked afraid of what his answer was going to be.
He paused for a second before he continued. "To protect you and your brother." He said then lowered his head.
"How long have you been here?" They say curiosity killed the cat, so I'm sure this next answer is what's going to throw me over the edge to the loony bin.
"I've been on the earth for many years completing many missions provided by the Holy One. But for this particular mission, I've been on Earth for twelve years. I was to befriend Jacob and keep a watchful eye on you two, only he never brought you around. The day you two showed up and when I first laid eyes on you I just knew my job was going to be a lot harder, for you, my love, are a very precious child. For I wish to make you my queen, but I can't. It is forbidden to love an assignment, yet I have already. You ask of my past and my past I shall reveal. Take my hand for I will show you my life."
He stretched forth his hand towards me and I hesitantly took it. As I did I noticed his body temperature had dropped causing his body to release cool waves. I climbed off the bed and stood in front of him. He pulled me close to him and wrapped his wings around us. I felt a cool breeze around me before I was lifted off the ground.
As the ground continued to drift from beneath my feet the tighter I held onto him. "Fear not my love for you shall not fall." Mike spoke looking down at me.
I loosened my grip and seen that I was still flat on the ground except we were floating now. I looked down at the ground and it was very misty and white. Suddenly he opened his wings and everything around us was a cloudy white. I looked around and it was like we were actually inside the clouds.
He waved his hand in the air and soon a patch of the fog cleared and you can see Mike talking to this guy in all white. He looked so young in that picture. You can tell he's aged just a bit, but there's hardly a difference between the two. They were laughing and joking around as a father would do with his son.
Then another image popped up and he was knelt down on one knee, with his head bowed. The guy from the previous image had some type of rod and touched both his shoulders then the top of his head like he was being knighted or something. Then his wings sprouted from his back. They were large bluish-black wings--almost the color of a Raven--that fell proudly in place with his even-toned, masculine body.
Above the image was the title; "The New Guardian Angel". Then another image came up and this time it wasn't so pleasant at all. It looked as if a war was going on. Smoke was everywhere the sky was dark and cloudy, blood was everywhere, dead bodies sprawled out on the ground, guns firing, spears soaring through the air, piercing the enemy or innocent ones in the chest. It was just total chaos.
"Where was this?" I asked never taking my eyes off the image.
"My home." He answered with a sad expression. "After the Righteous One was murdered things became hectic, the evil beings tried to take over but the Angels of Heaven wouldn't allow it so we eventually went to war." He explained. I looked back at him and he had the look of hurt and sorrow upon his face.
"Where you apart of the war?" I asked. He just nodded his head. I looked back at the image just in time to see him shoot five arrows at once into the hearts of demons killing them instantly. It was very scary to watch.
Then he changed the image to a different one. In this one, he was on Earth, but it wasn't during our time. It was from the 1800s.
"This was my first assignment. A teenage girl just like yourself was having trouble with her family and my job was to keep her on the right track and stop her from doing more harmful things to herself. But that didn't go so well. One day I didn't show up to walk her home and something terrible happened." He said in a whisper. The image changed and he was back on earth. But it was more of a later date than before. In this one, he was fighting once again but it's as if he had lost most of his strength during this time.
"Does being on Earth weaken your strength to fight?" I asked curiously.
"At times but I have alternatives I do that keeps my strength together." He said.
We stood there and seen a few more clips of his life leading up until when he met Jacob. I've seen things I never knew Jacob was capable of. Then I saw this one image where Jacob and Mike were both fighting someone when they shapeshifted into a beastly looking creature and both Mike and Jacob sprouted wings and began to attack. I stood there in shock unable to move. Mike tried to shut it off before I could see it but I got a good look at it alright.
I could no longer move nor blink. I was completely frozen in shock and fear. If Jacob is a Fallen Angel also then what am I? I thought to myself.
"Come, my love, for we have been gone for too long." Mike spoke to me.
But I couldn't move the images continued to play in my head. I took a step back into his arms as he enclosed us with his wings. The fog slowly began to disappear and there was a change in atmosphere, for the air began to get thicker and heavier. Once all the fog was clear and everything was solid, I knew we were back in my room. He opened his wings and let them dissolve into his back. I still stood there in shock at the new knowledge my brain just received. I don't think I'll look at Jay the same way ever again.
