Chapter Twenty-Seven
"Wait, you're not gonna tell Xavier about this!?" Neil said as I came out of the restroom after changing my clothes.
I placed my hand on my chest where I got shot. Of course it isn't healed yet and it's hurting like a bitch. But right now that doesn't matter. What matters is that we safe Margaret and that's all.
"No." I said bluntly as I grabbed my bag and phone.
"But-"
"Do you want to safe Margaret or not?" I looked at him.
"Yes, I do. But you have to tell Xavier." he groaned.
"Listen, Neil. She has men everywhere. We can't trust anyone right now. The two of us are the only ones that can save Margaret right now, and you know it." I looked at him straight in the eyes.
He was about to say something, but shut his mouth. He knew that I was right. He gave me a small nod and I nodded back. "We have to be careful." he said. "We're not supposed to be out of the hospital yet."
"I know." I smirked at him and pulled out my scarf. Neil frowned at me as I wrapped the scarf round my head, covering half of my face. I wore my sunglasses and applied some red lipstick.
"Where the hell did you get all that from?" he raised his eyebrow.
"Sarina put them in my bag." I answered. "Now, let's go."
We walked out of the room. I carefully looked both sides. No doctor was seen. We quickly walked down the hall and entered the elevator. Luckily only the two of us were in there. As the elevator starting going to the first floor, I called one of the guards at home. He picked up after a few rings.
"Yes ma'am?" I heard his voice.
"Are you at home?" I asked.
"Yes." he answered.
"Great. I want you to go into the house, make sure that Xavier doesn't see you, and get my car keys, along with one of Xavier's guns. Then drive my car to the hospital and I'll meet you there." I said as the elevator stopped.
Neil and I stepped out of the elevator and we walked out of he building as quickly as possible.
"But ma'am-" he tried to protest, but I cut him off.
"Do you want to lose your job?" I asked calmly.
"No ma'am." he said in a low voice.
"Good, then do as I said." and with that said, I hung up.
We stood in the parking lot, waiting for him to arrive.
"I don't think this is a good idea. You can hurt you and your baby. Don't you get it? She wants to hurt you!" I yelled at me.
"I know, Neil. I know she wants to hurt me! And I also know that if we don't get there, she can kill Margaret! She's that psycho!" I yelled back.
"Look around you, Hadley. There is no one here. We both know that the two of us won't be able to do this alone. Especially how she has men everywhere. There is no one here, Hadley. Call Xavier and tell him everything." Neil placed his hands on my shoulder.
I placed my hands on my stomach. She wants to hurt my baby. Xavier and I's baby. I can't let her do this. Neil is right. I should tell Xavier everything. I just can't risk my baby. Baby is innocent. The baby hasn't done anything. I don't wanna lose my baby. I just don't.
"You're right." I looked at Neil. "I- I have to tell Xavier everything." I breathed out.
I unlocked my phone and quickly dialed Xavier's number. Xavier immediately picked up the phone after the first ring.
"Hadley, where the fuck are you goddammit!?" I heard him yell.
"Xavier, I'm in parking lot." I said.
"What the fuck are you doing there!? Wait there, I'm coming!" he hung up.
I feel bad for not telling Xavier, but it seemed like that was the only option left. I started feeling so guilty. If it wasn't for me, Neil wouldn't get hit by a car, Margaret wouldn't get kidnapped and my baby's life wouldn't be in danger right now. I wish I could undo everything. I wish I could undo April.
Suddenly I saw Xavier running towards me. I dropped my bag and my phone as I ran towards him and jumped in his arms. He hugged me tightly as I sobbed on his chest. He rubbed my back and kissed my forehead, trying to make me feel better.
"Everything is happening because of me." I sobbed. "If it wasn't for me, Margaret wouldn't be there right now."
"It's not your fault, okay? It's April's fault. And we need to save Margaret now." Xavier said as he pulled away.
"You're right." I wiped my tears away. "But how are we going to do this? I already called one of the guards to bring my car and one of your revolvers. April wants Neil and I there alone. She also texted me the location." I said.
"Great, do as you were going to do. No one knows that I know everything. You guys do as were going to to and I'll be there with the cops a few minutes later." Xavier said and Neil and I nodded.
"But wait, she has men everywhere. They're going to see you." Neil said frustrated.
"Neil, calm down. We're gonna do this." I said.
"Hadley's right." Xavier said.
"Okay." Neil breathed out.
--
"I should have known that this place is pretty abandoned." Neil scoffed as we reached the old, rusty house.
The house seemed like it was burned years ago. It was more of wood, making it seem worse. There was high grass growing all over the place. There were no windows and no doors. It seemed like most of the things of the house was burned down.
Neil and I walked to the house and stopped at the doorstep. I looked inside and saw that the stairs were pretty much unstable. There was nothing to be seen. It was completely empty, like no one had been here for ages. It was completely empty. There was nothing in there besides dust and creepy looking insects and rats. I can't believe Margaret had to spend three days here in such a place.
I placed my hand on the would again, holding in my groan. This shit was hurting like a fucking bitch.
"Are you okay?" I heard Neil ask and I slowly nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said and stepped inside the house.
I looked around and saw so many webs all over the place. I sneezed by the way this place smelled. It smelled so... Dusty.
"So I see you're here." April smirked at me as she walked down the stairs with four men following her.
"Where the fuck is Margaret!?" Neil shouted from behind me as I glared at her.
"Patience, dear Neil. Patience." she smirked at us as she reached us.
She smiled at me, and I glared at her. I can't believe April did this, but then again, she is April. If she can be the reason why someone killed herself, then she can do any fucking lunatic thing.
"What do you want from me, April?" I said through gritted teeth.
"Isn't it obvious enough? I thought you were smart." she smirked even wider.
"Don't play games, April. Come straight to the point." Neil clenched his jaw.
April chuckled and shook her head. "Just follow me." she said and started climbing the stairs again.
Neil and I looked at each other before following April and her men. As we walked through a hallway after climbing the stairs, I looked around and realized that there were men in black suits everywhere. How the hell did she get them to work for her? I took Neil his hand in mine as we walked.
"Don't worry." Neil gave my hand a squeeze and I nodded.
We walked until we reached a door. April opened the door and walked in. Neil and I looked at each other again. I took a deep breath, ready for what is coming. I placed my hand on my stomach and looked ahead of me.
This is it...
We walked into the room and the moment Neil and I saw Margaret tied to that chair, whole hell broke loose. Neil and I ran over to her. She was tied onto a chair, her hair was messy and sticking onto her face by the way she was sweating, her face was red and she seemed half conscious.
"Margaret." I cupped her cheek as a tear rolled down my cheek.
"Babe..." Neil breathed out kissing Margaret on the forehead.
Margaret her eyes slowly opened and as soon as she saw us her eyes grew wide. "What are you guys doing here? Get out of here! You shouldn't be here!" she restlessly wiggled in the chair.
"Margaret, babe, calm down. We're here." Neil rested his hand on her cheek.
"No, you don't get it. She's gonna kill you! Go away from here!" she wiggled even more.
"What?" I gasped.
"Yes, that's right." I heard April say and I turned around, just to see her pointing a revolver at Neil's head. "We called you here, just to kill all three of you?" April smirked.
"We?" Neil asked.
"Yes, we." I heard a voice and looked at the entrance of the room, just to find Sarina standing there with a revolver pointing at me.
"Sarina!?" I gasped and she smirked.
"Yes. Me." she said.
I looked at Neil. "Why would you do this!?" Neil shouted.
"I thought you were supposed to be smart, Neil. I thought you would know." she said in an innocent tone, cocking her head to the side. "But anyways, I am doing all this for Xavier. I. Want. Xavier." she said.
Neil and I stood up and we looked at each other, and nodded. "Sarina, we both know that that is never going to happen." I said and pulled out the revolver out of my back pocket and shot Sarina's gun, making her scream and the gun fell from her hand.
April was about to shoot me, but Neil shot her hand, making her scream in pain. "Not so fast, bitch." he spat at her. Her men took a step towards us, but Neil grabbed Sarina and pointed the gun at her head. "One more step and I shoot her in the head." he said and they stepped back.
I ran over to Margaret and untied her. She let out a little gasp for air as I helped her stand on her feet. Suddenly I heard a gunshot and Neil shouted afterwards. I turned around to see Neil on the floor, with a bleeding leg.
"Neil!" Margaret screamed.
No..
"That's it!" Sarina shouted and picked up the gun. She pointed the gun at me and pulled the trigger, but Margaret pushed me out of the way and both of us fell on the floor. Sarina's jaw clenched and she pointed the gun at me again. But before she could pull the trigger, there was another gunshot and Sarina fell on the floor with a scream.
Suddenly there were gunshots heard everywhere. Margaret and I screamed as one of the men fell dead on the floor right in front of our eyes. Oh fuck. Margaret grabbed my hand and dragged me behind one of the closets in the corner of the room. I covered my ears, breathing heavily as I heard people screaming and falling on the floor as well as the gunshots. I wanted to scream for help, but it seemed like there was something stuck in my throat, refusing let my voice out.
I pulled my knees to my chest and hugged it. Tears streamed down my face and I gasped when another man fell dead in front of our eyes. Margaret and I hugged each other, hoping that all of this will end soon and we can go back to our home and be happy again.
Suddenly everything stopped. Everything went quiet. Margaret and I were about to walk out from behind the closet, but then suddenly Xavier appeared out of nowhere, making us scream. I jumped into Xavier's arms and he hugged me tightly.
"Are you okay?" He asked me, kissing my forehead.
I just nodded, tears still streaming down my face. Then I remembered Neil's scream. As I let go of Xavier, he hugged Margaret, making sure that she's okay too. I on the other hand looked around the room, looking for Neil among all the dead bodies. I saw the police handcuffing April and she shot me the deadliest glare ever invented by any kind of human being. I snapped out of when I Margaret yell Neil's name.
"I'm fine. Don't worry." Neil said as he tried standing up.
I ran over to him and hugged him, making him hug me back. "I'm glad you're fine. Except for being shot in the leg of course." I said.
"Don't worry. The bullet is out. It didn't really hit me." he said and I grinned. I'm happy we're all fine.
But then I saw Sarina lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Sarina is dead. Everything just froze. Sarina is dead. My twin is dead. I felt the floor slip under my feet and I collapsed to the floor. Even though she faked it all, even though she wanted to kill me, even her sweet talking meant a lot to me. She took care of grandma, she was always there for her. Even if she wanted to kill me and steal my man, I still loved her.
I felt arms wrapping around me and I turned and looked at Xavier. Tears filled in my eyes as I stared at Sarina's bloody dead body. Xavier kissed my forehead and helped me up.
"Come on. Let's go home. She deserved it." he said and picked me up bridal style. "Come on everyone." he said referring to Neil and Margaret. "Let's go home."
Well, at least everyone is okay. Sarina is dead, April got arrested and all of her men were dead. Xavier let the revolver he had in his hand fall on the floor, I didn't even realize he had that in his hand, and we walked out of the old, rusty house. I placed my hand on my stomach and rested my head on Xavier's chest.
We're all fine..
