Chapter Eight
"Hey, Rod, What's your WiFi password?" Neil walked into my house with his phone in his hands and Margaret following him.
I looked up from the book I was reading. "Well, hello to you too." I said sarcastically. "Oh, and hi Margaret." I smiled at Margaret and went back to my book after she waved back.
"I hate you." Neil jumped and sat on the sofa next to me.
"I never said that I love you." I shrugged as I continued with my awesome book.
"Seriously? Put that damn book away!" Neil poked me.
"No." I said and smiled sarcastically.
I knew he always hated books. Neil and books don't go along. That's what I've found out a few days ago. I was reading The Fault in Our Stars and what happened in the end? Neil took the fucking book out of my hands and burned it. Of course I slapped him across the face first, but just got an 'I hate books just like that' as an answer.
"You're mean." I imagined him pouting.
"When did you see me caring?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Come on, Rod! You're still mad about the whole 'Fault in Our Stars' stuff?" He scoffed.
I looked at the page I was on and closed the book. I slowly put it on the table and crossed my arms over my chest as I gave him the deadliest glare I ever gave someone in my whole life. I saw him flinch a bit, but he pushed it away and smirked at me. So you want to play the game now. I took the book and hit him hard on his head.
"Ouch! You bitch!" he yelled and I glared even harder. He saw my mischievous glint and pulled back.
He laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head. His sheepish smile just made me smile. He looked so adorable, that I wanted to pinch his cheeks. I looked at Margaret and she was pretty much staring at Neil. I had the sudden urge to face palm myself. No really, these two need to grow up and tell each other their feelings already. Suddenly I get an idea.
★ Neil's POV ★
Hadley took the book she had placed on the table after she hit me on my head and stood up. She was three months pregnant, so her baby stomach was starting to get visible. I was happy for Hadley. Her life with her parents was the worst thing that can happen to anybody. It's not a good life she led there. She had told me everything and the only question I asked her left her speechless. Why didn't she move out of there when she turned eighteen?
It's her birthday soon and she will be twenty-two years old. My Hadley is growing up. Enough with being dramatic. She was living in that house for nine useless years. Way to go cousin, way to go. I swear I have the stupidest people as the closest ones. Just like Margaret... Margaret...
Even her name makes me all naughty. I swear, that girl can do anything to me. That brings me to the question, why aren't we together yet?
Because you're too much of a coward to go and ask her out, idiot!
What the fuck!? Where the hell did that voice come from!? I don't remember me being so retarded that I am starting to hear stupid voices insulting me in my own motha-effing head. I need to visit a psychiatrist. I need help. My brain is starting to get it's own brain.
"I'm coming in a few. I'm going to put this book back and go take a shower." Hadley said and I nodded.
As she walked away, I realized that my Margaret hadn't said anything for the whole ride here, which was a bit too weird. She usually talks a lot to me when we get the chance to talk. I cocked my head to the side and watched her suspiciously. There really is something wrong with her.
"Come sit here." I patted the spot next to me and she sat down next to me.
I watched her for a few moments and realized her eyes are a bit red, like she had cried a while. I felt bad that she had to cry and that I was not there for her when the thing happened. Wait, what happened actually?
I placde a stroke of her hair behind her ear and threw my arm over her shoulder. She looked at me and smiled a forceful smile. I hate it when she does that. She should smile from her heart, not a forced one.
"What happened?" I asked and she shook her head. "Come on. Tell me." I insisted.
She sniffed and her eyes started to fill with tears. Oh no.
"I had an argument with dad again." She sniffed as the tears rolled down her cheeks. "And he said that I'm useless... A piece of trash that he wishes he had thrown away." She looked in front of her. "He said that I'm a whore, bringing all kinds of boys at home and all. I just wish all this would end."
"Hey..." I cup her cheeks. "I know I suck at these things, but you are not useless. You are my precious diamond. He can think whatever he wants, but I think that you're my everything. So, Margaret, I have something to ask you..." I said nervously.
I was secretly hoping that she wouldn't hate me. We know each other for longer that half a year, practically, and I have developed enough feelings for her. I can die for her. I like... love her that much. The day I saw her at the beach, made me feel like I got knocked out by some Angel from heaven. She looked like she was shining. She had some kind of glow... so bright. But when I actually started to know her, I realized that she isn't as perfect as I thought. She has her flaws, but she still is as unique as I knew she was. I swear, I sound like a chick right now. Damn emotions.
She looked at me with wide eyes. "My Margaret?" she squinted her eyes at me. And just then, I realized that I did the most idiotic thing ever. How can I say that!? Fuck my fucking life. "You were going to say something?"
My face became red and she chuckled. She smiled and lay on the sofa, and rested her head on my lap. I was shocked by her sudden action and she smirked when she saw my face. Like, moments ago you were crying and now you're smirking at me. This girl needs more help than I do.
"Yeah.. I was." I said, and nervously scratched the back of my head.
"Then go ahead."
"I wanted to ask actually..." play it cool man. Her gaze was so intense, so I decided to just man up and ask her. "Will you go out with me?"
She just stared at me for ten seconds. I on the other hand was crapping my pants. What if she says no and never talks to me ever again? I will die.
"Neil..." She began and I closed my eyes, waiting for the worst to happen. But then I heard those magical words. "I would love to go out with you!" I felt arms wrapping around my neck.
I opened my eyes, smiling very retarded and hugged her back tightly. I hugged her like my life depended on her. Like, we kissed before, but I don't know if she ever took it as serious as I took it. The hug made me feel a lot more than I felt when we kissed. Like, dude, is my penis still there?
"Finally!!!!!" We heard Hadley yelp.
Margaret jumped back as she jumped. I watched in disbelief as Hadley happy danced. This is woman is too much, really. Guess Margaret and I aren't the only ones who need help.
♕ Hadley's POV ♕
I felt a burst of happiness when I heard Neil ask Margaret out! I started happy dancing automatically and all I could think of was that my sweet cousin is all grown up and that he finally found himself a perfect girlfriend.
From what he told me, seemed like he had all slutty girlfriends earlier and most of them cheated on him. I did feel bad for him, until I found out that they like each other. Margaret usually told me that she likes Neil and Neil told Xavier that he likes Margaret.
"Hey, Hadley, I'm home.... And... Why are you dancing?" Xavier asked with Ryan on his shoulders.
Xavier was frowning and Ryan was giggling. When I saw Xavier's face I started blushing for no reason. I felt so embarrassed. I heard Neil and Margaret chuckling and I glared at them, making them stop immediately.
"Will you tell me yet?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Neil asked Margaret out!" I grinned at the two as their faced turned into a deep shade of red.
"Finally!" Xavier exhaled.
"I right!" I giggled.
"Mommy!!" Ryan tugged on my shirt.
"Yes, sweetheart?" I asked him smiling.
"Daddy gave me a kissy here!" He smiled brightly as she pointed at him cheek.
I grinned at Xavier while he looked at Ryan like he was the world to him. I looked back Ryan and smiled. This boy really is impossible and adorable.
