CHAPTER 66

Y/n pov

I slowly opened my eyes, only to be greeted by darkness. Blinking a few times, I tried to adjust my sight and take a clearer look around. Nothing looked familiar. Where am I? Panic surged through me, making it hard to think straight.

I gulped and closed my eyes, forcing myself to remember. Calm down. Think. Suddenly, reality hit me like a truck, and my eyes flew open wide. The events of last night flooded back, making my whole body tremble.

"Where am I? And where's Taehyung?" I whispered to myself, heart pounding. "I remember he was injured. Is he okay? Oh god, I need to see him."

Driven by desperation, I tried to stand up and run, but a forceful grip on my leg stopped me in my tracks. I looked down and saw a heavy chain binding my leg. My breath hitched in horror.

"No, no, no!" I tugged desperately at the chain, but the only response was a sharp pain that made me hiss. Breathing heavily, I walked as far as the chain allowed, but it stopped me short.

Tell me this is only a nightmare. Why are they doing this to us? What should I do now? How will I find Taehyung? My whole mind is a mess right now. I don't know what to do in this darkness. Hell, yeah, they brought me to a prison that looks so creepy.

Tears of frustration welled up in my eyes.

"Help! Someone, please!" I cried out, my voice echoing in the darkness.

"Is anyone there? Please help me! Get me out of here!" I shouted as loud as I could, hoping someone would hear and help me.

I sank to the ground, tears streaming down my face. I kept shouting until my throat felt raw.

"Please, help me," I whispered, too exhausted to shout anymore. I cried silently, feeling utterly defeated. Maybe this is our fate. Maybe we don't deserve happiness.

I can't do this anymore. My heart ached, not just from the physical pain, but from the overwhelming sorrow of missing Taehyung. I wanted to see him, to feel his comforting presence. The last time I saw him, he was in pain, and that memory haunted me, tearing at my soul.

Why does it have to be like this? Why must we suffer so much? My heart felt so heavy with the thought of him, and the longing to be in his arms again was unbearable. Each beat of my heart was a reminder of our separation, of the cruel fate that kept us apart.

"Taehyung... please be okay," I murmured, feeling a mix of fear and helplessness.

Suddenly, footsteps echoed in the distance. My heart pounded in my chest as the sound grew closer. "Who's there?" I called out, my voice trembling.

The footsteps stopped, and a shadowy figure appeared at the entrance of my cell. The door creaked open, and I instantly recognized who it was. I slowly raised my eyes and looked up to see her smirking face, a face I wanted to punch so badly.

"Enjoying your stay here, aren't you?" she mocked, her voice dripping with contempt. I didn't respond, just looked away in disgust.

"Are you deaf or something?" she snapped. I rolled my eyes but still refused to look at her.

I could feel her approaching, her presence looming closer, but I refused to show fear. Be strong, I told myself.

"After everything that happened, you still dare to show attitude, bitch?" she hissed, her eyes blazing with anger. She stepped closer, her breath hot against my skin, before slapping me hard across the face. My head snapped to the side, pain exploding in my cheek. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I took a deep, shaky breath.

I could taste blood in my mouth, but I refused to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break. Slowly, I turned my head back and met her gaze, my eyes burning with defiance.

"Where's Taehyung?" I demanded coldly, my voice steady despite the fear churning inside me. I wouldn't let this shameless woman intimidate me. All I wanted was to see Taehyung.

She laughed, a cruel sound that sent chills down my spine. Without warning, she kicked me hard in the stomach, the force knocking the breath out of me. I doubled over in pain, clutching my abdomen and struggling to hold back the urge to vomit.

"Oh, are you asking about my Taehyung?" she sneered. I scoffed at her claim. Since when had he become hers? Only in her twisted imagination.

"He's not yours," I spat back, my voice filled with defiance. "And he never will be."

"SHUT UP, YOU PATHETIC CREATURE!" she shouted, her voice echoing off the stone walls. She grabbed a fistful of my hair, yanking my head back violently. I tightly closed my eyes, the sharp pain radiating through my scalp.

"I asked, Hana, where's Taehyung?" I demanded again, my voice shaking but determined. I kept my eyes shut, trying to bear the excruciating pain.

"You'll never see him," she hissed, her voice dripping with venom. "He's only mine, and soon we'll be married. You know what? You have to stay here until your last breath. And I'll make sure every day you'll die from my torture." Her grip tightened, and for the first time, fear clawed at my heart.

What if she never let me see Taehyung again? What if I had to live here until my last breath? No, I couldn't let that happen. Taehyung would come and save me from this hell. I'm waiting for you, Taehyung.

Tears began to well up in my eyes. I wanted to cry badly, but I couldn't. I didn't want them to see my helpless state. They would take advantage of that.

"Do you hear me?" she snapped, jerking my head to force me to look at her. "He's mine now. You mean nothing."

I gritted my teeth, fighting the tears. "You're wrong," I said, my voice hoarse but firm. "He'll never be yours. He loves me, and he'll come for me."

Her eyes flashed with anger, and she slapped me hard across the face. "Keep dreaming," she spat, but I saw the flicker of doubt in her eyes.

Her grip on my hair loosened, and I cautiously opened my eyes, meeting her intense gaze.

"Taehyung will find me," I whispered, a spark of defiance still burning within me. "And when he does, you'll pay for everything." She laughed and rolled her eyes at my statement.

"I want to see you in your helpless state so badly. Shall we begin?" she said with a chilling mix of seriousness and excitement. I stared back at her, seething with hatred but refusing to give her the satisfaction of a response.

Hana's eyes lit up with a twisted delight as she took a whip from a soldier's hand and cracked it in the air. The sharp sound echoed off the stone walls, sending a shiver down my spine. She stepped closer, her smirk widening.

"Let's see how tough you really are."

The first strike landed on my back, the pain searing through my body. I closed my eyes tightly, biting down on my lip to keep from crying out. The ropes binding my hands were too strong; I couldn't stop her. Every hit made me whimper in pain.

"STOP, HANA. DON'T BE THIS CRUEL," I shouted, using all the energy left in my body, hoping they would stop their heartless actions.

"AHhhhhh....."My voice echoed in the cold, dark cell, but it only seemed to fuel her cruelty. She began to hit me harder, each strike making my body convulse with pain.

"Beg all you want," she sneered between strikes, her eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "No one's coming to save you."

" pathetic" she taunted, striking me again and again.

I could feel the skin on my back tearing, my dress shredding and becoming soaked with blood. My vision blurred with tears, but I refused to let them fall. "Y-you'll never break m-me," I gasped out between strikes, each word a struggle.

Hana's face twisted with rage at my defiance. She grabbed a handful of my hair, yanking my head back painfully. "Still so stubborn," she sneered, her breath hot against my ear.

I couldn't do anything; my hands were bound too tightly, and every movement sent waves of pain through my body. I just curled up on the filthy cement floor, my body wracked with tremors. I closed my eyes, trying to bear the pain. It was too much. Did they have no heart? Couldn't they see how much pain I was in?

"Please, stop," I whispered, my voice barely audible."Please..."

She paused for a moment, and I dared to hope. But then she laughed, a cruel, cold sound that echoed off the walls. "Not until I'm satisfied," she said, raising her hand for another blow.

Desperation filled me. "Hana, please! I can't take any more," I begged, tears finally spilling over.

"That's the point," she said, striking me again.

"I want to see you broken.
You deserve worse," I heard Hana say as she finally stopped beating me. With half-closed eyes, I looked at her as she disgustingly scoffed and delivered one final kick to my stomach, ensuring I felt every ounce of pain. I clutched my torn dress tightly, trying to alleviate the agony.

"Don't give her any meals until I say so. And keep your damn eyes on her," Hana commanded, her nasty smirk fixed on me. The soldiers nodded obediently and left, ensuring to lock the cell door behind them.

Here I lay, like a lifeless body, surrounded by my own blood.

"Where are you, Taehyung? Your Y/N is in so much pain. Please save me," I whispered desperately, my voice barely audible amidst the throbbing pain. "I'll die here, Taehyung. Please come and rescue your Y/N." My voice broke, tears streaming down my face, mingling with the blood and sweat. With that, I closed my eyes, unable to bear the torment any longer, my heart aching with the hope that he would somehow hear my silent plea.

The hall of Daegu Castle echoed with eerie laughter, the sound creeping through the entire room.

"Finally, we have achieved what we wanted," the King of Ulsan said proudly, raising his wine glass and clinking it with his son Doyun's.

Doyun grinned, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "To our success, Father."

They had destroyed the entire kingdom, leaving villages in ruins. Some villagers were dead, others were under their oppressive rule. They had set fires to some villages, showcasing their heartlessness. They cared for nothing but power, becoming ravenous beasts when it came to their ambitions.

Now, they had taken Daegu Castle. There was no hope left for the villagers of Daegu, who longed for their king's return. Only these heartless invaders knew whether the king was alive or not.

"I never thought it would be this easy to take control," the King of Ulsan laughed. The queen, also present, showed her happiness now that they had achieved their goal.

"They never expected their best friend to betray them," Doyun said, laughing wickedly. The king chuckled as well, taking a sip from his wine glass.

"These people will learn to fear us. No one will dare defy our rule."

"But now we must continue with our plan. Make sure no one escapes our grip. Order our soldiers to tighten the security. We can't afford to lose this chance," the king commanded. Doyun nodded in agreement.

"Father, what of the prisoners? Shall we interrogate them?" Doyun inquired.

The king nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, find out if any of them have useful information. We need to secure our hold on this castle and prevent any rebellion."

"Sure thing, Dad. I'll watch over the questioning myself." Doyun said.

The queen, who had been quiet until now, spoke with a worried tone. "What about the nearby kingdoms? They won't just watch as we grow stronger."

The king's expression hardened. "Let them come. We are prepared for any who dare challenge us. Send messengers to remind them of our strength."

Doyun added with a chilling smirk, "Let them see the fate that awaits those who oppose the King of Ulsan."

The king raised his glass once more, a cruel glint in his eye. "To victory and domination. No one shall stand in our way."

"Dad, when am I going to marry Taehyung?" Doyun rolled his eyes at his sister, Princess Hana's, question.

The king sighed and looked at the queen, who also seemed uncertain of how to respond.

"Actually, we haven't thought about that yet. But first, we need to make sure everything goes according to our plan. After that, I promise you will marry your Taehyung," the king said, and Hana's mischievous smile widened.

"How is he now?" the queen asked, making Hana smirk.

"He’s locked away, as we planned," Hana replied, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "He will soon learn that his fate is sealed, just like everyone else's."

Suddenly, a soldier burst into the room, his footsteps echoing loudly on the marble floor. The King of Ulsan furrowed his brow as the soldier approached, his expression tense with urgency.

"Your Majesty, Prince Jin has escaped," the soldier stammered, his voice trembling under Doyun's intense glare.

Doyun's grip tightened on his wine glass, his knuckles turning white. With a sudden burst of fury, he hurled the glass to the floor, where it shattered into pieces.

"What the hell are you saying? How could this happen?" Doyun's voice reverberated through the room, his anger palpable in every word.

The king's eyes narrowed, his expression stern as he fixed his gaze on the soldier awaiting an explanation.

"A-Actually, Your Majesty, he didn't escape just now. We only realized later... He slipped away during the chaos of the fight," the soldier managed to explain, fear evident in his voice.

"Damn it! Are you serious? How could he slip away unnoticed?" Doyun's frustration boiled over, his fists clenched at his sides.

Without warning, he grabbed a nearby dagger and flung it across the room, narrowly missing the soldier who flinched in terror. The dagger embedded itself in the wooden wall with a thud, punctuating the tense atmosphere.

"You have no idea what kind of risk this poses! Where were your eyes when he escaped?" Doyun's voice cracked with anger, his face flushed with fury.

The soldier, now visibly shaken, could only bow his head in shame, unable to meet the piercing gaze of his enraged prince.

"Useless bastard," Doyun muttered under his breath, his chest heaving with each breath.

"Now, we must find him before he ruins everything," the king declared firmly, his jaw set in determination as he contemplated their next move.
