Chp. 9
"Love is craved and desired but those who crave love are never desired" by Melsh.
Odettes POV-
"So what' da think?" Eli flew from my bathroom, swaying in a golden snug dress that swung against every movement her body made. The dress is charming and a little revealing for my taste, but it put a gentle smile on her face so I wouldn't lecture her about it. Today is the day, the day of the anticipated banquet that I worked so tirelessly, on, and I was invited, so was Eli and... Luke. I haven't seen him in a while.
"It's lovely El you look marvelous," I cheered, this is the first time El, and I have ever been invited to such a lavish party, as kids we would dream of just the liberty of being able to serve there. Well, at least she did. My dreams always seemed to be a bit more vast than that. Eli glanced at me appearing to have left her joyful trance as her eyes scanned my own.
"Uh, Odette, what are you wearing?" she tilted her head to the side, her grin falling into a slight slant. I didn't have much to wear, so I chose to wear my tailored uniform since it is simplistic and not too tethered, so It should do nicely. Quite frankly, I just couldn't afford such an expensive garment ever since my mother passed, money has become a little tight considering I can't rely on her anymore.
"I'm going like this it should be fine since I'm no noble so I am risking no humiliation, plus this is my tailored uniform you know it's the best thing I own," I sent her a false crooked smile hoping she wouldn't push the matter further, but knowing Eli she definitely would.
"Odette! You are absolutely not going like that," she huffed, pointing her violet nail toward me, infuriated at my lack of care for my feminine beauty. Damn.
"How could you not tell me you needed a dress, you know my mother is a seamstress she loves you she wouldn't mind making a dress for Elizabeth, Lavals daughter," I winced at my mothers name as it passed through her lips; pulling myself gracefully forward as I brushed myself off.
"It's fine, El just drop it."
"Sorry, Odette, I can't since... I brought a second dress just in case I didn't like this one!" she jumped with joy as she flung me into my washroom following an elegant looking piece of cloth. Huffing, I picked the garment off the ground and sighed defeatedly as I placed it on my body, shimming my own rejected gown. Finally, I managed to fit the damn thing on; I didn't even bother glancing in the mirror since there's no way I would bother to wear it anyway.
"Hurry up- Oh, oh Odette, you- you look beautiful," she seemed breathless as she slowly made her way eagerly towards me. I didn't get a chance to get a peek at the dress; I just grinned confusedly. I can't wear this even if it's the most significant thing I have ever worn, I am already a burden to her family. Taking a dress like this would be too much. I can't... I won't.
"You didn't look in the mirror, did you?" she sighed, pushing me disappointedly towards the washroom once more. I owe her so much.
"Detta, just look at yourself, ok?" she seemed even more worried as if my eyes would never meet the reflection that hung on the wall, but they did... just for her sake. I was instantly taken aback, the cerulean hue of the dress highlighted my olive tone and even complimented my ragged curls. Though what truly caught my eye was the shape of this dress, it flowed tightly against me as if second skin, revealing a small slit at its sides as it clung on my thighs. The elegance, refinement of the fabric almost brings me to tears... It's beautiful, I was beautiful.
"I-I have no words El-"
"It's great, right, leave it to my mom, she always blows you away," she chuckled, but I pushed her kind words aside as I embraced her in a tight hug.
"Thank you," I spoke breathlessly as I felt the dress's thigh slits swim against my hips, she eventually stepped back to get a final look at me.
"Don't think I'm done with you just yet, we still have another hour of makeup and hair, we have to look exactly like aristocrats," she beamed her girlish giggle calming my nerves, what had I done to deserve such a warm-hearted friend in my life. Whatever I did, it was worth it.
"Come on, let's go," Eli clutched my petite hand in her own and brought me to her room, where she held her torture devices. Makeup.

The glamour and sophistication of the banquet hall instantly bombarded my eyes, as the smell of excessive perfume and appetizing dishes danced in the air. Eli and I had to come a little early to check on the preparations, though I seemed to be out of place with my hair in a curled updo and my eyes painted with mascara. Every butler, maid, and servant scurried around the hall, fixing every and all imperfection, even I was tempted to run and help. My eyes took one last glance at the roses that lined each table until they were met with Lukes's pale ones.
"Luke! Over here," Eli sang as my heart began to race uncontrollably, I haven't seen him since the day we slept together in that heavenly garden. Why did he leave me there? All alone. He gracefully stepped towards us fashioning a sleek suit with a grey tie and slicked hair.
"My lady's you all look beautiful," he delicately kissed Eli's gloved hand as his eyes traveled towards mine. Millions of questions swarmed my thoughts as he started to make his way towards me.
"Odette, You look lovely," he mumbled, slipping his hand in my own as he placed a soft kiss against my knuckles.
"You look quite handsome yourself, Lucas," I grinned.
"Why thank you, my lady, I guess I am quite the eye candy."
"Wow! Thats, a whole lobster!" Eli seemed to disappear into the crowd of waiter's, leaving Luke and me to each other's company. Oh, dear.
"Odette..." he paused, gazing at me as he snaked his arms around my waist, pulling closer to his hardened chest. Feeling my face flush as his heavy cologne caressed my nose.
"Will you be my date for this lovely evening?" his eyes never wavered from my own even his hold on my waist never lost its strength.
"Hmm, I guess that wouldn't hurt," I giggled.
"Ladies and gents the guests have arrived please be prepared to serve all their needs and wishes," a gallant young man sang into a microphone capturing our attention, only moments after his words people started to fill the dining hall. After each guest was introduced and welcomed in, they all quieted and stood as the king and queen of Rinia entered.
"Welcoming King Fredrick, Carson, Montgomery the third, following his refined wife and queen of Rina Elanor, Charlet, Montgomery," they all cheered their names with pride but staying quiet I noticed the king's eyes capture my sight... Evil, no hatred. Trembling, I tried moving my attention from him to the couple behind them. There here.
"And our future king and queen, Sebastian, Alexander, Montgomery the second and his lovely fiance Belle, Ashley, Williams," the cheering seemed to pass new levels of loudness as the royal couple strolled down the ivory stairwell. My heart caught in my stomach as I noticed Ms. Williams's expensive attire, the gown seemed to flow endlessly as its white color highlighted the golden makeup she wore. Even the simplicity of her nails put my whole look to shame. I slowly took notice of my surroundings; it wasn't only her looks that trashed my own it was every other woman that resided near me.
"Pick your head up," at the sound of his voice I instantly turned my head, Luke pinched at my wrist and gazed at me knowingly.
"Don't let them sense your weakness," he advised as he gently took my hand in his own comfort.
"Thank you... Lucas," after the many introductions, the function seemed to go into full swing, people chatting and dancing. It's all so, so overwhelming.
"So my dear Odette what do we have planned for this evening," Luke smirked.
"I honestly don't know I thought you would lead the way, you are my date after all," I sent a wider and more sinister smirk back, it seemed to catch him off guard.
"Well, we could always-"
"Odette." tipping my head from Lukes's view following the ringing of my name as my sights are met with Sabastian's bright suit and hardened gaze.
"Your highness? Is there a problem?" I quizzed, though he didn't seem to answer as if he didn't mean to call my name. How strange.
"Umm, yes, there is a problem, but I can't explain now, you need to come with me this instant," Sabastian yanked my hand pulling me quickly towards him, though I only moved mere inches before another hand reached for my waist. Gasping, I glared at the two men whose eyes seemed to be occupied with each other to notice that they were ripping me apart!
"I'm sorry, my prince, but she is off duty at the moment though she seemed to pick up a new job," he tilted his head to the side, glaring holes into Sebastian's head.
"She's my date for the evening," I was instantly swung from Sebastian's grasp to be met with Lukes's rough chest, the grip on my waist never wavering even for a second. Hearing a low hearted chuckle I glanced up to finally meet eyes with him. Luke.
"So you can't have her, not today at least,"
