Chapter Thirty-Eight
My head fuzzy from the drugs he was once more giving me, I lay on the bed in a daze. Most days I could barely focus my mind enough to figure out what time of day it was, forget trying to figure out how to get out of here. Where ever here was. It had been like this for over weeks now. Leon was always beside me when I woke up with his arms wrapped around my waist, my own arms too weak from the nightly dose of whatever he gave me to even try pushing his arms off of me.
Once he woke, the days routine would begin like it had every day since he brought me here. Since I had been unconcious for the majority of the trip, I had no idea where we could be. I didn't even know what country we were in anymore. The sound of a door opening and closing brought me out of my thoughts. Looking towards the door of the room, I waited for Leon to come in. I didn't have to wait long, the door opening as he called out a greeting to me.
"Shina my love! I have something to show you! I've been working on getting this for you, to show how much you mean to me! I bet you can't wait to see it!" His cheerful voice washed over me, sending a shiver down my spine as I wondered what had made him feel so happy.
Watching him come closer to the bed, I had a feeling that whatever it was, it would not be good. My eyes widened as I saw him begin unbuttoning his shirt. In all the time he had been around me, he had yet to remove his clothing. Something I had been thankful for, as I could only remember what had happened the last time he'd captured me.
No matter how much I tried to steel myself for what I thought was to come, nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. His arms and chest, once revealed, were a map of painful scars and new tattoos, slightly warped from the masses of scar tissue. Where once my name had been carved into his skin, it had been burned away and now a tattoo covered the area.
Upon first glance, the design almost seamed to be a random twisting and turning of vines and leaves, but looking closer I could see the underlying pattern. My name was now spelled out over and over within the almost hidden curves of the inked plant that adorned his arms and chest.
However, it was when he turned around that I felt the biggest shock. A phoenix seemed to almost jump from his skin, the flames vivid as they covered him from his neck all the way down into his pants, meeting the vines on the side of his body in a scattering of burning leaves. And within the flames and burning feathers, I could once more make out my name, this time curving large across his shoulders.
"See? They tried to take your name from me, but I got it back, I got them all back! And now they are as beautiful as you deserve them to be! Now I don't have to be ashamed of you seeing them gone! I bet you can't wait to see the rest!" I felt a shiver of fear race through my body as I saw his hands reach for his pants, a lustful smile slowly creeping across his face.
