Fifth Gym Badge

After our flawless win at Veilstone City, head down to Route 214 to do some grinding. I was really hoping to get Buffy to evolve soon, since he was getting closer to lvl 37. I also really needed to find a Moonstone for Asgore. If I didn't, he'd be stuck as Nidorino, and using a Pokemon not fully evolved would be difficult. There was still plenty of time though, so I don't worry about it yet.

On Route 214, we come across Mankey, which seemed like a good back up Pokemon for later. However, Buffy wanted to show off too much, and killed it in one shot. Wonderful.

I don't let that stop me though as I continue to battle multiple trainers. Soon I got to Lake Valor, and had my next encounter with an adorable Squirtle! Man, I've run into a ton of starter Pokemon during this nuzlocke. Well, this one is a baby, so maybe it'll be easier to catch-

*Buffy kills it*

....

*inhales*

Anyway

After that stupid  accident, I continue on Route 213, battling more trainers along the way. Once I found my first encounter, I was surprised to find a Kingdra. I debated whether this would count as Dupes Clause, because I did technically have Mermista, who could evolve into a Kingdra. Problem is, in this randomized version, all items are randomized. So I have no idea when or where I'd find the Dragon Scale I'd need (I'd normally also need to trade it with the item, but since it was an emulator, the randomizer made it so that traded Pokemon just need to hold the item to evolve).

I really love Mermista, she saved our butts quite a few times. But if I didn't find a Dragon Scale, she wouldn't be as helpful as I wanted. And here before me was a Kingdra, ready to join us. So, after some careful consideration, I catch the Kingdra  and name her Sapphire. Once we reached Pastoria City, I put Mermista in the box and have Sapphire join us. If I find a Dragon Scale, I'll come back for her. For now though, her new big sister will fill her spot so Mermista won't risk being killed.

After that, we end up finding Barry and having another battle with him. He had a completely new team than before, having three Dragon types and even a Nidoking. However, he didn't put up much of a fight, and I beat him easily. That's when I feel ready to head into the gym.

Turns out Crasher Wake uses Ghost type Pokemon. With a Dark type and a Ghost type Pokemon, this shouldn't be so bad.

I hope

Wake sends out a Sableye first, which Shadow takes out with a few Faint Attacks. Next he sends out a Spiritomb, which Shadow again takes out with ease. She had to deal with a couple Confuse Rays, but that wasn't a big issue. Finally, Wake sends out a tiny Ghastly, which was dead in one attack. Wait, if it's a ghost, it's already dead, isn't it?

In any case, we got the fifth gym badge: the Fen Badge
