Life Is a Book

Life is a book, though it follows no plot.
Some chapters are pleasant, some chapters are not.
It’s story is contradictory, convoluted at best.
To say life’s a clear path, must be a jest.
It’s not always clear what you should do,
It’s often more like a fog, misty and murky surrounding you.
Sometimes as an author, you hit writer’s block
With the forces of life, you’ve hit a deadlock.
Most aspects of life are like what’s in a good book,
Thought you’ll never get anyone to read without a good hook.

(A nice extended metaphor I used for this poem I wrote as an assignment in English I in the 9th grade.)
