WHAT KIND OF POET AM I?

What kind of poet am I, my conscience asks?
Well, I could be several things.

A critic?
Yes, for I'm the type who weaves his poems around societal ills,
revealing the innate nature of humanity and society's Achilles' heels,
condemning negativities that society encourages and promotes.
Anything that exhibits madness, my poems demote.

A melancholic?
Yes, for I'm the type who sometimes drowns in the pool of sadness,
struggling to inhale anything that will enable me to exhale gladness.
Just like someone said, poems are the fragments of the soul,
and with them, one can definitely be made whole.
When uncertainty and emptiness resonate within me,
poetry brings certainty and fulfillment, making me free.

A pacifist?
Yes, for I'm the type who always wants to rest his head in the bosom of peace.
To me, war, thuggery, assault, or any form of violence are all diseases,
and there is no better cure than peace.
If there is an absence of peace in one's life, only suffering will exist.
No matter the wealth or riches, peace is what only a fool will resist.
As a poet, I am an advocate of peace, and through my poems, it will persist.

A naturalist?
Yes, for I'm the type that loves nature.
With poetry, I appreciate nature,
showering praises on it,
revealing nature's feelings and depths.
Nature is the aider of breaths.

A humorist?
Yes, for I'm the type that won't mind being mesmerized by humor.
Humor is the medicine I take every day.
I take an overdose, and all the cells in my body laugh.
I will gladly write a poem that arouses laughter.
With humor, a saddened face can brim with a smile that is so much brighter.

A dreamer?
Yes, for I'm the type with dreams itching to become reality.
My dreams scream with full gravity.
I walk their path,
either north or south.
I use poetry to describe their beauty,
decorating them with words of purity.
They wish to be fulfilled, and I aim for their fulfillment.

All I've said is what I am.
As a poet, those are who I am.
I could be more.
I could be the definition of more.
