"Woah! Cool! So this is what Assiah looks like!"

It was a Saturday morning, it was bright and windy. The roads were already full with pedestrians walking here and there, some alone, some as couple and some with children. Cars whizzed past continuously on the main roads of Tokyo as traffic lights helped to control the traffic.

Rei, dressed in Rin's old shorts and clothes skipped along the pavement, fascinated at everything she saw, occasionally stopping to look into shops and discovering new things that were foreign to her. Rin strolled behind her casually, with hands dugged deep into his pockets. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt and jeans. His mind trailed back to one thought that was lingering in the back of his mind. How did everything come to this?

*flashbackkk~*
"Rinnnnn, I'm boredddddd," whined a certain white hair girl. Rin was currently concentrating on tryimg to do his homework, but Rei was whining on and on about how bored she was.

"Read manga or whatever, just don't disturb me..." he had muttered, not breaking concentration. "I've already finished reading almost all you have..." she whined further rolling on the ground. Rin let out a fustrating groan. "There are some more hidden in the cupboard beside you, read it or whatever...I'm busy, so don't disturb me.." he mumbled out.

Rei's eyes immediately brightened as she bounced towards the cupboard. The room was peace and quiet once again. But after half an hour, Rei had started her 'whining spree' again by saying she was hungry while tugging on Rin's shirt, trying to gain his attention.

Just then, the door opened and Yukio walked in, hanging his clothes on the hangar and sat in his place with a tired sigh, and started doing his paperwork. Rin and Rei only stared at Yukio. Rei suddenly got up and went out of the room, soon coming back in with a cup of tea. She then placed it beside Yukio, who thanked her and drank it. Rin's eyes popped out at the scene. "H-Hey! That's not fair!" He complained. "How come Yukio gets better treatment than me? I saved your life, ya know, ME!" "Huh? What are you talking about? I'm just concern about Yukio's wellbeing, that's all." "Oh? So that means you're not concern about me at all!" "I didn't say that."

Rin sighed and sank back into his chair, slouching as he did his homework. Just then, Yukio sat up straight. "Nii-san. I'm busy tomorrow. I need you to take care of Rei, that includes buying her necessities. So please bring her out to buy clothes and other needs." Rin shot up. "WHAT?! And I planned to go to the arcade tomorrow..." he complained. "Bring her with you then." "Hai...okaa-san..."

*Back to present*

So that's how everything came to this, eh? Rin took out a stash of money. Yukio promised to pay for the necessities...but still... He let out a big sigh. Rei's excited voice snapped his attention back to her. "Rin! Look! There are people inside a big screen box!"

"It's a ELECTRONIC BILLBOARD. Nothing special..." Rin muttered. Rei didn't listen to him, but continued squeezing her way through the crowd which was getting thicker every minute. "Hey! Wait...!" Rin shouted and reached out to grab her, but her slim body had her already weaving in and out of the crowd, making her way to who knows where.

When Rin had finally lost her, he bent on his knees and panted. "What is with her stamina? If she gets lost and somehing bad happens to her..." Rin gulped. He didn't even want to think of what Yukio would do to him. He took a deep breath and continued to search for the white-haired girl.

Just then, a gruff voice reached his ears. "What're ya think ya doin', pretty girl?" He turned and saw that a crowd has gathered in the middle of the walkway. Curiousity got better of him and he went to check it out, muttering apologies as he squeezed through the crowd. In the center where the crowd had formed a ring around were a girl with white hair and hybrid eyes of yellow and blue and two guys that were dressed up like gangsters. The girl was picking herself up from the ground and massaging her arm.

Wait, white hair and hybrid eyes?

Rin groaned. First thing in the morning and Rei had already cause trouble in public. She looked quite pissed, by the way.

The first guy- the same guy as the owner of the gruff voice he heard, was wearing a yellow sleeveless jacket with a bandanna and the second guy had pierced ears and mohawk hairstyle. Rin tapped the shoulder of a woman beside him. "Excuse me, may I know what is going on?"

"Huh? Oh, it seems like the girl has accidentally bumped into those two men, but they won't let her go. If I recall correctly, those two belong to a bully gang called 'Red Gangsta'." That was enough for Rin to know Rei was in hot water.

The first guy grabbed Rei by her shirt and pulled her towards him, trying to intimidate her, which seems to be working for the crowd as the crowd gasped. But Rei didn't blink even an eyelash.

"You'd better know who you just bumped into. So get on ya' knees and start apologising NOW!" He snarled at her and forced her on her knees harshly that Rin was sure she scraped them on the tarred road.

Rei didn't apologise, instead, the fire inside her seemed to rage even more as she did not lower her glare for a second. But Mohawk kept mocking her. "What's wrong? Ya' too afraid? Are ya gonna piss ya panties? Or are ya just dumb? Ya should feel lucky that we, the Red Gangstas decided to give you a chance to apologise, 'cause usually, we'll be crackin' skulls apart!" He taunted. Bandanna smirked.

But Rei scoffed: "You filthy mortals. Keep your tongue to yourself unless you want it cut off. You expect me to apologise when you knocked into me first? How pathetic," Veins popped on both gangsters' forehead and Mohawk forced a twitching smile.

"You b*tc*. You really don't know your place, huh? You need to be taught a lesson!" He screeched and raised a balled fist.

Then everything happened in a blink of an eye.

Rin shoved through the crowd as he sprinted towards Rei, mouthing inaudible words. Warmth enveloped Rei and the fist colliding.

Rei widened her eyes when she saw she was facing a firm chest and the fabric over the chest gave off a familiar scent that she had been surrounded by for more than a week. She heard a groan resounding in his chest. Bandanna widened his eyes and scowled. Mohawk stumbled back a little. "W-what? WHERE DID YA COME FROM?!" He screamed at Rin.

A chuckle escape the blue haired boy's lips as he muttered: "Hahaha...not pain at all...ouch..." Then, he slowly turned around to face the two while hiding Rei behind his back protectively.

He massaged his shoulders and stretched. But Rei didn't miss him scrunching his face in pain for a split second. "Look, I'm sure that this whole thing was just an accident, no one got hurt, so..." A hand landed on Rei's head and forcefully pushed it down to a bow. "We're sorry!"

Rei felt her eyebrows furrowing. She did not like this at all. But Bandanna scoffed. "Tch, we, being kind-hearted will let you go for this time, but next time, if you mess with the Red Gangstas again, you will pay for it!" With that, both of them stalked of, the crowd withdrew a corridor for them to exit the crowd.

"Hey- Ouch!"

Rei yelped when Rin washed the wound on her knees. Her right knee was bleeding worse than her left knee since the cut was deeper. They were currently resting on a bench at a nearby park. Rin helped Rei to bandage her knees, but Rei kept squirming.

"Stop squirming or I'll lick your wounds myself," Rin threatened, and Rei stopped. Then, Rin suddenly cringed a little and his hand instinctively shot up to massage his right shoulder. When he let go, Rei could see a black and blue spot forming on his shoulder beneath the clothing.

Rin bandaged the last circle and brightened up. "There, finish- Woah, woahhh!" Rei had forcefully sat Rin on the bench and they had swapped positions, with Rei's hands pinning Rin to the bench.

Rei slowly leaned in, eyes half-lidded. Rin's face heated up, as imaginations started going wild in his head.

Then inhumanly fast, Rei yanked his jacket and the cloth slanting so that she could see the big bruise forming on his shoulder. Rin gasped and tried to cover it up. "Um! It's nothing! Just a small punch wouldn't hurt me like that, it'll go away in a day or so..." But Rei smacked his arm away.

"Why did you do that?" She asked quietly, running a finger on the bruise lightly. Rin flinched a little and looked at her. "Huh?"

"I asked, WHY DID YOU DO THAT? Why did you protect me? I could've dealt with them myself! Then, there would be no necessity to get hurt!" She raised her voice. "Awww...someone's worried about me~" Rin teased, earning a choke from Rei. After Rin begged for mercy and she finally let go, he sighed and replied: "Well, it's because..." Rin gave her a warm smile, a smile that Rei had not seen for 13 years. A smile that made her bubbled with happiness inside.

"...it's my job I must protect you, ain't it?"

I originally was gonna publish this yesterday night since I finally finished typing at 11.30 AT NIGHT, but when I clicked the publish button, half of the chapter FRICKING DISAPPEARED!!! But since I was too damn tired, I just went to bed.
