I pulled up in my Ford and activated the portal. I was transported to our small pocket dimension.

"What do you want?" I asked. 

"Well, hello to you too," Amanda said, "Do you remember when we were kids and I ended up in another dimension?"

"You mean the one with all the dragons when you were kept in a prison? Yeah, pretty hard to forget."

"Yes, and it says a lot about our friendship that dragons are the first thing you remember."

"What do you want?" I asked again.

"I've been researching more about it, and that world is dying. I don't know what happened, but they need our help. I think this may have been our fault. Please Carol, will you just come with me one last time?"

"What about the others?"

"Sarah's married with kids, Emma's been stuck at work for months now, Abbie's still trying to keep the other world safe, and well, you know what happened to Twila."

I sighed and felt a small lump in my throat, "Yeah, I remember. Alright, I'll come with you, but this is the last time."

"Deal," she said and put out her hand.

I shook it and we walked out of the portal together.
