ss1 ── the second wedding

The air in Forks was crisp with the promise of something special. The Cullen home, surrounded by the towering trees that had become as familiar to them as their own thoughts, had been transformed into a sanctuary of love and celebration.

Today was a day of unity, a day where Carlisle and Eve would renew their vows before not just their family, but their closest friends—many of whom had traveled far to share in this moment.

Though Carlisle and Eve had already been married privately, today was different. Today, they were opening their hearts and their lives to those who had stood by them, those who understood the eternal nature of their love, their family, and their shared experiences as vampires. It was not just a wedding; it was a celebration of the journey they had taken, of their family, and of the love that had bound them all together across time.

The Cullen home was aglow with warmth, a soft light emanating from the grand windows. The living room had been cleared and adorned with delicate white flowers and strings of twinkling fairy lights that draped across the ceiling and down the walls. There were touches of lavender and deep blue throughout, colours that reflected the calm beauty of the surrounding forest. The scent of fresh flowers filled the air, mingling with the smell of the woods just outside.

Inside, the family was gathered, a mix of nervous excitement and joyful anticipation. Emmett, who had been chosen as the officiant—having performed Carlisle and Eve's first wedding in a quiet ceremony—stood near the front, wearing a big, toothy grin. He was, as always, filled with energy, but today, there was an extra gleam in his eyes as he prepared to marry his mother and father figure.

Carlisle stood at the altar, his golden eyes sparkling with love and admiration as he waited for Eve to appear. His golden hair was neatly styled, and he wore a perfectly tailored suit, his usual calm composure in full effect. Yet, there was a warmth in his smile that could not be hidden, especially as he glanced at their now six-year-old twins who kept peeking over from the house.

The two were dressed in matching outfits—Celeste in a soft lavender dress and Ciel in a miniature version of Carlisle's suit.

Celeste, with her ocean-blue eyes sparkling, could hardly stand still. She tugged on her mother's dress and beamed up at her, her excitement palpable. "Momma, is it time yet?" she asked eagerly.

Eve smiled down at her daughter, her blonde hair falling in soft waves around her shoulders. She wore a simple but elegant gown of ivory lace, her golden eyes glowing with the happiness that radiated from within. She reached down to adjust Celeste's dress before turning to glance at Ciel, who stood next to her, holding a small bouquet of flowers in his hand.

His deep hazel eyes, the same as Eve's once were as a human, shone with excitement, though there was a quiet calmness in his demeanour that mirrored his father's steadiness.

"It's almost time," Eve replied softly, her voice warm with love for her children and Carlisle. "Are you ready?" she asked Ciel, who nodded solemnly, clearly happy to be part of the ceremony.

Eve's heart swelled as she looked at her family. The love between her and Carlisle was palpable, and their family—so full of life and innocence despite their unique existence—were the living proof of that bond.

The family was seated, with Emmett eagerly awaiting his role as officiant, and Alice and Jasper nearby, watching with quiet excitement. Edward and Eleanor sat at the front, with Edward's usual silent but intense expression softened by the happiness of the moment. Rosalie and Emmett sat together, Rosalie beaming with pride as she gazed at the couple.

Alistair was seated toward the back, his usually hard expression softened as he watched his daughter in this rare, joyful moment.

The Volturi had been invited, but as expected, Aro had sent a beautiful gift instead—for Eve, with a note of congratulations.

Aro's absence was noted but not dwelled upon. Today was a day of joy, not obligations.

Finally, the soft music began to play, signalling that Eve was ready to walk down the aisle. Emmett stepped forward with a wide smile, his usual energy now tempered by the gravity of the moment. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the enduring love of two incredible individuals—Carlisle and Eve Cullen," he began, his voice rich with affection for the couple. "Though they have shared their vows in private, today we come together as family and friends to honour their love and commitment."

The music swelled, and Eve appeared at the top of the stairs, her eyes meeting Carlisle's across the room. The golden glow of their eyes shone brightly in the soft lighting, and every movement Eve made was elegant, and poised, as if the years had only made her more graceful. She walked toward him, her children by her side, their faces full of joy as they moved to join their parents.

When Eve reached the altar, Carlisle took her hand gently, his eyes never leaving hers. There was an unspoken bond between them, a deep connection that had only strengthened over time.

"Eve," Carlisle said softly, his voice full of affection. "You are my heart, my everything. I vow, once again, to stand beside you, to love you, and to walk with you for all eternity."

Eve's voice was equally filled with warmth and devotion. "Carlisle, you are my home, my constant. Through all of time, you have been my love. I vow, once again, to cherish you, to love you, and to spend forever with you."

As the vows were exchanged, their eyes locked in a silent promise, one that transcended words. Emmett smiled widely as he pronounced them husband and wife once more.

Carlisle and Eve sealed their vows with a kiss, tender and loving, and the room erupted into applause. Their children rushed forward, excited and beaming with joy. Celeste hugged Eve tightly, while Ciel held out his bouquet to his father. The family surrounded them, laughter filling the air.

The celebration continued with a beautiful reception. The house was filled with laughter, music, and love as they shared stories and danced beneath the soft glow of the fairy lights. Emmett raised his glass for a toast, his voice booming in the best way possible.

"To Carlisle and Eve—may your love continue to shine through the ages!" he declared, and the entire room echoed in agreement, raising their glasses in celebration.

The evening was filled with joy and connection—family, friends, and those who had supported Carlisle and Eve through their long lives, sharing in this precious moment. As the night drew to a close, Carlisle and Eve shared another dance, their children at their sides, basking in the glow of their love, surrounded by those they held most dear.

It was a wedding that would be remembered for eternity—a moment of love, joy, and family that would continue to grow and flourish for as long as they walked this earth. And for Carlisle and Eve, it was just one more beautiful chapter in the love story that had been unfolding for centuries.

As the evening stretched into the early hours of the night, the atmosphere in the Cullen home remained warm and filled with love. The sounds of laughter, music, and soft conversations echoed through the house as guests mingled and shared their joy for Carlisle and Eve's renewed vows.

The day had been perfect—a reflection of the deep, timeless love they shared, and one that everyone in the room could feel.

Outside, the mist of Forks clung to the trees, a soft blanket that wrapped around the house. The flickering light of candles and lanterns cast long shadows on the lawn, and the scent of the woods mixed with the fragrance of roses, lilies, and lavender that filled the air. The evening had a dreamlike quality to it, a surreal sense of peace that seemed to belong to the Cullens and their extended family alone.

Eve and Carlisle took a moment to step outside together, their hands entwined as they walked across the lush grass. Celeste and Ciel, were inside, happily dancing with the others. Alice and Jasper, still full of energy, had taken to teasing Emmett, who had kept up his role as the enthusiastic officiant with an uncharacteristic calmness.

Carlisle smiled at Eve, his golden eyes soft in the moonlight. "Thank you for this," he said quietly, his voice full of love and gratitude. "For making this day so perfect."

Eve, her blonde hair glowing faintly in the soft light, leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "It's the least I could do," she whispered, her voice just as soft. "You've given me so much over the years—today is just a small way of giving something back."

Carlisle chuckled, the sound deep and rich. "We have all the time in the world to give back to each other." He paused, his eyes lingering on her, filled with emotion. "But this, today, feels like a gift I'll carry with me forever."

Eve smiled up at him, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "You're right. Our time is endless, but this moment—this feeling—it's special. Something to remember."

They stood in comfortable silence, watching the soft lights flicker from the windows, their hands still intertwined. The love they shared was something more than just a passing moment; it was eternal and unshakable, and the bond between them could never be broken.

Inside, the celebration continued. Rosalie and Emmett were engaged in a lighthearted discussion with the Denali clan, Tanya was telling an amusing story about their adventures before meeting the Cullens, and Kate, always the source of excitement, was trying to teach Celeste and Ciel some new dance moves; but using Garrett to teach them.

Irina was talking with Eleanor, both laughing at whatever was being discussed.

Carmen and Eleazar were just watching and laughing to the twins hanging off of Garett.

The Irish Coven, along with Alistair, were quietly conversing with each other. Siobhan, Liam and Maggie shared their good wishes with Carlisle and Eve, congratulating them once again on their happiness.

Alistair, though usually reserved, had a rare smile on his face as he watched his daughter from afar, his usual coldness softened by the love in his eyes.

He had always been difficult to read, but this was a moment where his pride for his daughter was undeniable. He watched her, standing strong beside Carlisle, surrounded by those who cared for her. Alistair had always kept his distance, but today, he allowed himself to feel the warmth of the love that surrounded him.

The Volturi's absence wasn't dwelled upon, though the gift Aro had sent—reminded everyone of their strange, often complicated relationship with the Volturi. Still, Carlisle and Eve had learned to move beyond the politics of their past, focusing instead on the family and the love they had built over time.

As the night wore on, Alice and Jasper took their turn on the dance floor, followed by Emmett and Rosalie, who, despite their teasing, were a beautiful sight to behold as they glided effortlessly across the room. Edward and Eleanor joined them, the soft music providing the perfect backdrop to the warmth of their smiles.

Carlisle and Eve eventually returned to the celebration, rejoining their family and friends. Eve's heart swelled with contentment as she watched their children run around, laughing with the others, their innocence and joy a reminder of the happiness they had created together.

"Shall we?" Carlisle asked, offering his hand to Eve as the music shifted to something slower, more intimate.

Eve smiled, taking his hand. "I thought you'd never ask."

Together, they stepped onto the dance floor, the world fading away as they moved in perfect harmony. Their steps were slow, and gentle, as if the world itself had paused to allow them this moment. The only sounds were the music and the soft rustling of the wind outside, the whispers of the forest surrounding them.

Their movements were graceful and effortless, a reflection of the years they had spent together. Eve rested her head against Carlisle's chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was a sound that had become as familiar to her as her own. In that moment, nothing else mattered.

Carlisle's voice broke the quiet, soft and tender. "I love you, Eve."

"I love you, too," Eve replied, her voice warm and steady. "Forever."

And as they danced together, surrounded by family and friends, it felt as if the world had paused just for them. This moment, this perfect night would be etched in their hearts forever. A reminder that love, no matter how much time passed, could endure anything.

...

The night ended quietly, with the Cullen family and their loved ones leaving the dance floor one by one. Celeste and Ciel, sleepy but still filled with joy, were carried upstairs by their parents, their eyes heavy with the promise of a new day tomorrow.

Carlisle and Eve, hand in hand, stood by the window, gazing out at the misty night, content in the knowledge that they had everything they could ever need—each other, their family, and the endless years ahead of them to share.

For them, this wedding was not the end of something, but the beginning of a new chapter—a new promise, renewed and celebrated in the hearts of all who loved them. And as the stars glittered above, Carlisle and Eve knew their love would continue to shine, always.

an: you know the wedding Carlisle and Eve deserved was the first on my list.

Fun fact; Before their private wedding; this was always how I imagined ending the story—but fitting their wedding earlier was something I ended up making happen, because i just liked writing how the two were referred to as husband and wife—im a softie when it comes to that for Eve and Carlisle. Also, I am trying not to end stories on weddings all the time; i do it too often.
