Chapter 7
Blossom's eyes fluttered open to a bright afternoon light. She blinked rapidly, adjusting to the sudden brightness and shifted stiffly on her bed. Her head pounded distantly as if behind a closed door as she sat up, rubbing her fingers under her hair. She looked around and saw that her window was wide open, allowing a light breeze and the early afternoon light through. She moved her legs off her bed, stopping when she found herself in the clothes she wore yesterday. Frowning she recalled her conversation with Brick and his brothers before it suddenly went black.
The pounding ceased and Blossom released a light gasp. Flinging herself from her bed she quickly changed into a black pencil skirt and a Rose pink button up top that matched her eyes. She grabbed her wooden comb and gently softened her light orange hair. She left it down, her bangs gently resting against her forehead instead of being pulled back like usual and looked around for something. She walked to her closet and pulled out an old box from years ago. She dug through it, tossing away lies given to her before finding a small black bow that Berserk had given her for her fourteenth birthday.
Blossom knowledgeably clipped it to her hair, giving herself one final glance in the mirror before giving a big smile and leaving her room.
Blossom skipped down the stairs, past the kitchen where her family was sitting down for lunch.
"Blossom!" her mom called out, making Blossom halt in her step. She had to wipe a away all traces of disgust when she turned and smiled.
"Yes mom?" she said forcefully, hoping it didn't carry through. All heads turned to her and gaped, looking over her new look. Her mom narrowed her blue eyes slightly, visibly forcing a smile.
"Where are you going dear? Don't you want lunch?" she tempted, holding up her grilled cheese. Blossom's stomach clenched with hunger and she disguised the hungry grumble with a loud giggle.
"No thanks, mom. I have to go to meet Butch and Boomer to help me finish up this last piece of homework," she said with a small wave. Her father smile and resumed eating.
Through bites he murmured, "Just be home by six. We're having some guests over."
"Alright," Blossom waved, turning and slipping on her shoes. The door echoed as she closed it behind her and Berserk turned to look at her mother.
"Since when did she go to Butch and Boomer for help with homework?"

Blossom tried to keep her pace steady as she walked over the path to the boys' house. Her heart pounded as she imagined seeing them. Seeing them as she remembered them.
Blossom climbed up the steps and lightly racked her knuckles against the door. She waited silently for a few minutes until she heard the slight scrape of moving locks. The door opened and Blossom smiled, expecting to see Butch Boomer, or Brick. Her face fell slightly into a shocked look as she stared at the woman before her. It was the mom of that child from the park, slightly looking more tired now, but the same piercing green eyes and bold lipstick.
She looked at Blossom, scrutinizing her, before in a raspy voice asking, "no soliciting." The door started to close and Blossom snapped to her senses, stopping it with her foot.
"I'm not here to solicit," she said with a frown. "I'm Blossom U-Jerson! I live next door." When the woman showed no recognition she sighed and ducked her head. "I'm here to see Butch and Boomer."
The woman's intensiry seemed to lesson and she nodded, opening it for her. Blossom sighed and stepped through. Blossom had been to they boys house, many times, but their mom was always working. She'd never really met the woman.
Boomer and Butch tumbled down the stairs while Brick stuck his head out from the kitchen. Upon seeing Blossom he chocked on whatever substance he had been drinking and covered his mouth with his hand to prevent it from squirting out.
"Blossy!" Butch cheered, throwing his arms out in greeting. Blossom smiled and accepted his hug, lightly squeezing him. He seemed to understand because he turned to Boomer and smiled. "Ready for that project?" he said, turning back to Blossom. Blossom smiled thankfully and nodded, allowing Butch to wrap an arm over her shoulder before directing her to the stairs. As they passed by the kitchen Brick seemed to have been able to swallow whatever substance he had problems with before and was watching her with curious wide red eyes. She smiled lightly at him as she past, hopefully he understood the signal.
Butch quickly moved them along and they climbed the stairs, his arm still wrapped protectively over her. As they disappeared from their moms eyes Blossom lost the cutesy act and smiled broadly at Boomer. He smiled back, obviously understanding, before giving her hand a quick squeeze and leading the way to his room. Whenever Blossom came over they always went to his room because it was cleaner than Butch's. While Butch just tossed his junk all over the floor, Boomer at least had the decency to tuck it under his bed or into his closet. Blossom had discovered that during a game of hide-n-seek only a few years back.
As soon as they closed the door to Boomer's room Blossom flopped back onto his bed and laughed. Butch and Boomer smiled at her, taking a seat on the bed next to her.
"It's good to have you back, Pinky," Butch said, smiling at her. She quickly sat up and threw her arms around the two, hugging them tightly. They wrapped their arms around her and hugged back, lightly laughing through her squeeze. Finally Blossom pulled away and tucked her legs under her.
"My sisters," she said quietly, her smile slightly fading. Butch's and Boomer's smiles slid from their face, turning dead serious.
"In similar situations. We'll find them," Boomer assured her. Blossom nodded slightly and looked at Boomer's open window.
"And Berserk?" She asked quietly. She knew that her and her "sister" did not have a good past, but somewhere she hoped that all these years together could change that.
"We don't have much of a choice," Butch murmured with a small shrug. Blossom nodded her head absentmindedly. They sat in calm silence until the door creaked open, exposing a familiar red head boy with a red cap on his head. The smile fought to return to Blossom's face and she let some of it regain.
Brick watched Blossom cautiously, trying to get a sense of when she was going to yell or hit him. To his surprise she allowed a small smile to slip to her lips while her eyes watched him. He could see pure joy radiating behind their rosy complexion. All his worries started to ease out of him, only griping by threads when she got up and walked towards him. She stood directly before him, her eyes watching him intently. Her hand shakily rose up and gently touched his cheek, her warmth adding to his blush. Suddenly she jumped forward and wrapped her arms around him, clinging to him while digging her head in his chest. He slightly gasped at the sudden attack before quickly hugging her back.
Suddenly, remembering where they were, Blossom pulled away and took a step back. She coughed slightly and smoothed out her shirt.
"It's good to see you," she said meekly, obviously embarrassed by the display of affection she had given. Brick just smiled and placed a hand on her cheek. She stiffened at his touch and her pink eyes jumped up to look at him.
"You too," he whispered, his voice whispy. Blossom had to hide her shiver and her smile.
"Before you two take this any farther let's make out a plan on what we're going to do," Butch said, sticking his tongue out in disgust. Blossom giggled lightly and stepped away, feeling cold as Brick's hand slid from her cheek.
"Yeah, that sounds good," Blossom agreed, situating herself on the floor. Brick takes the space besides her, Boomer and Butch on each side of Blossom and Brick. It was an awkward looking circle, but she figured it was the best they were going to do.
"So, let's start off the most important. Getting out of here," Boomer says, his blue eyes more sharp and intense than shed even seen.
"It's not going to be easy," Brixk states sadly, glancing at Blossom. She nodded quietly, signing her allegiance. "First, we're going to have to gather supplies. Clearly the others aren't around here or we'd know it."
"Then we gotta get Berserk," Blossom cut in before any of the other boys could skip over it. They all shared a look and Butch cleared his throat.
"I'm not one for leaving people behind, but are you sure? With your past and all it might get...complicated. Especially with this who Brick thing going on," Butch says, casting a glance at Brick who looked slightly angered if not disgusted.
"No, Berserk will understand. She's like a sister to me, she wouldn't just abandon that," Blossom says, trying to keep her tone sure. The truth was she had no clue how her mirror self would act. A part of her said that she would try to tear Blossom's eyes out, but another said she would understand. Now, which part to trust was the problem.
"If not, we can always restrain her. After all, powers don't come back for a while, even Brick's are still just arriving," Boomer suggests, spotting the distant look on Blossom's face. She smiled thankfully at him.
"Alright, then we've got to escape. I'm pretty sure if someone took our memories away then they don't want us to have them back," Brick says darkly.
"And they sure as hell won't let us leave," Butch added, making Blossom shiver. Brick quickly took her hand, making her feel warm, but there was also a feeling of mistrust. She knew what had happened after the last time they'd held hands. She told herself it was a mistake, but could one murder another accidentally? She didn't know, but she intended to find out. Soon.
"Then we'll break through. We'll leave at midnight when no ones around. And we have to act normal, no suspicion," Blossom reminded. The boys nodded easily. "Then, we find my sisters."
"We'll have to worry about that once we escape. We have no clue where they might be," Boomer said sadly, his thoughts dwelling on Bubbles.
"I'm sure we can find someone outside of town to help us," Brick said standing. Blossom looked down at her hand for a moment before also raising to her feet.
"I should head back," She whispered. Butch and Boomer also got up, moving foreword and wrapping their arms around Blossom. She hugged them tightly and pulled away, looking at Brick. For a minute their eyes met in silence before he moved forward, taking something from under his cap. He removed the black bow that rest in her hair, tying a large pink bow in its place.
"Stay safe," He said, his eyes shyly meeting hers. Blossom nodded slowly, pulling away.
"I'll talk to berserk, we'll work out an agreement," she said. Boomer nodded and handed Blossom a magenta bottle.
"Just in case," he said, smiling. Blossom smiled back and nodded, turning to head out the door back into her false life.
