If you were being perfectly honest, you weren't really thinking. You just said the first thing that came to mind. And it shocked everyone, including yourself.

"Let me think about it."

You were in your office (that's what you called your storehouse now), resting your head on the table you were sitting at. You sighed for probably the fifth time. You were still tired from last night, physically and emotionally. And on the emotional side, you knew you wouldn't have time to rest. You had to go to Ryusui to get your pay today, at some point at least, and you knew he'd ask for an answer there.
You rubbed your eyes. Him asking you out was one thing you could do without, considering your situation. But it did bring out the problem you were having, so now you could confront it.

Senku still hasn't gave you an answer to your own confession.
You sighed. He probably never will, he was never one for relationships. He always only qualified them as 'bothersome', and it made you frown.

You thought about Ryusui. Since you met him, you got to know him better. Passionate would be the word to describe him. He's kind and supportive, which could be annoying at times, but in the end he was a good guy. Also he's handsome as fuck and those were your exact thoughts when you saw him at the party. Nothing hotter than a man in a suit.
And he asked you out.
But you asked Senku out. Kinda.

You raised your head back up, thought for a second, and stood up. You needed to confront Senku about it. This time you will get an clear answer out of him. Of course, you won't force him into a relationship if he doesn't want to. You both knew he wasn't the romance/couple type. But you were! And if he says no or keeps avoiding an answer, well you're just gonna have to move on. Yeah it'll suck, and you'll need a while to recover because you really liked him, but you can't wait for him forever (you already waited for like a month and a half!), while opportunities for a relationship pass you by like that.

You walked out and went to Ryusui's house.
First you gotta get your money, because you had a business to run and that was your priority. You'll tell him you have to check something first before giving him an answer.
'Business-woman! Coming through!' you smiled.

Gen watched as you walked out of your office.
"There she goes."
Yuzuriha, who was with him, followed his gaze. She noticed you were on your way to Ryusui's house.
"Oh come on!" she said, then went to talk to Senku.

Gen followed her. She was clearly rooting for you and Senku to hit it off. But he had his doubts about that. Senku may be an stoic wall when it comes to deep emotions, but it was written all over you face. You confessed to him. And Gen bet that it didn't really go anywhere. Senku never developed on his opinion on romantic relationships. It was a total secret.
But Gen could guess.

Senku was working on a detailed blueprint for a specific part of the boat when Yuzuriha and Gen walked in.
"She's going to Ryusui." she said after a moment of silence.
"Don't know why you're telling me this but okay." he said, not looking up from his work.
"That doesn't bother you?!"
"Why would it?"
"Because-Urh!" she groaned, and sighed.

A moment of silence passed, she thought, wanting to just shake him up once and for all so he could just do...something!
"...Did you know that in second year of high school, she dated a guy?"

Senku stopped moving. He thought for a moment and frowned.
"Really?" he looked at her.
"Ooo boy..." Gen whispered.
"Yes. For three months. She talked about him many times, Fukuhara from our class."

Senku stayed silent.
"The tall guy sitting at the front."
No reaction from him.
"Red hair in a little pony tail."
He slowly shook his head.
"With an earring!"
He leaned back, pointing at her and nodding. She sighed.
Oh yeah, him! He had a diamond earring that shone light in his eyes from his class desk, it made him want to experiment on light reflections.

Three months... And you saw each-other everyday.
He probably wasn't paying attention whenever you talked about him. He never did when such subjects came up.

"...huh." he went back to his blueprint.
"That's all you have to say?!"
"What do you want me to say?" he said, getting annoyed. "She's living her life, should I be against that? That's a dick move."
"But...you...!"
Yuzuriha groaned and walked out with a 'fine!'. Gen stood there, smiling.

"...what?" Senku glared at him.
"Nothing~ nothing~." he said. "And just so you know Senku-chan: I agree with you!"
His smiled turned a bit more sinister, making Senku's frown deeper. He waved and walked away.

Of course Gen was okay with Senku leaving you in the dark romantically. He was more than okay with that.

Senku sighed, happy those two finally left him alone. He looked back at his blueprint and noticed yet another error he made. He groaned, placed his pencil down and ran a hand through his hair. It's no use to be working when he wasn't in the right mindset for that.
He was bothered. And the very fact that he was bothered bothered him.
He knew you wouldn't respond to Ryusui until you get an answer from him. And he was dreading the moment you'd knock at his door.

He looked down.
Relationships... Being a couple... Romance...
His whole life, Senku observed from a distance, asked questions, he even attended lectures about what it was, what it did to a person. And he didn't want that.
Being in a relationship was, at its core, giving yourself to each-other. Giving yourself up to another person. It was an act of faith and surrender because you never knew if it was gonna work out, in the short or long run. And to him that was just crazy. They didn't call it 'falling in love' for nothing, there was in it the idea of the fall. Doing such thing would be letting things get out of control. And Senku always kept things under control. It was a gamble whose risks were just too high. Especially now, in this situation: if it ended badly, which he was convinced could happen, an absolute possibility, it would be, not only at the expense of you and him, but also at the expense of everyone else. A heartache would affect his brain, his judgement and his work. And his work was a foundemental factor in the Kingdom of Science's development. Having this emotional wall around his heart was just fine by him.

But lately, you've been knocking on that wall.
Because meanwhile there you were. You went through so much personal growth.
When he revived you, you were the one who followed him. And now... You might have even went ahead of him.
And so he could keep on watching your back as you go on and live your life, or he could try and catch up with you so you could walk alongside each-other.

"So stupid." he stood up.

You walked out of the house, happy to have this new bag full of money, and you went on your merry way to put it in your office.
"Oi (Y/n)!"
You turn to see Senku, gesturing you to follow him.
"Oh, Senku! Good timing," you followed him. "I wanted to ask you something."
Now somewhere where no one was around, he stopped walking, you also stopped and placed the bag on the ground to your feet. He turned around.

"Yes."
"What?" you frowned in confusion.
"Your confession. Let's do this."

It took you a second, then your expression suddenly changed to be dumbfounded and speechless. You covered your mouth with your hands, your face red and you forgot to breath for a second. You both stared at each-other in silence.
After a while, Senku scratched the back of his neck, looking to the side.
"Come on, say something!" he grunted. "You're not helping me here."
"Oh my god!" you exclaimed.
You rushed towards him and hugged him tightly. You laughed wholeheartedly, your heart exploding with happiness.

As he placed his hands on your back, he came to a conclusion. Yeah it was still pretty stupid. And yeah, the posibility of this turning into shit was still very present, there was a few factors to this. It was one of the few times in his life when he followed his guts instead of his brain.
And right now... This was nice.

"You better make it worth my while."
You laughed and backed away, your arms still around his neck.
"You tsundere piece of shit!" you said, still smiling.
"What the hell?! Not even five minutes in and you're insulting me!"
You laughed.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry~, that's because I'm so happy!"

The huge smile on your face, still blushing, made him smile too.
Already it was worth it.

He accompanied you to your office to count and split the money.
"Jesus." you fanned yourself with your hand. "I don't know why I'm shaken like this. This isn't even my first relationship!"
"Right, Fukuhara?"
You stopped walking at stared at him with big eyes, shock written all over your face. He chuckled, knowing that would've get a reaction out of you.
"Just so you know, I learned about him from Yuzuriha only a couple of hours ago."
You let out a long sigh.
"Dude, you scared me! I know I talked about him but honestly I would've been freaked out if you did remember him!" you laughed.

"...are you sure you talked about him?"
"Almost on a daily basis. And you did that thing you do when you're not interesting in a conversation."
"What thing?"
"Like, you nod along, occasionally glance at the person and then let out a 'mmh'. And you follow that same pattern."
"...How long did it take you to realize it was a thing and that I wasn't listening?"
"Years."
You both laughed.

"But now it's behind us," he said. "and I am all ears... at least I'll try to."
"Hey Senku?"
"Yeah?"
He looked at you. You smiled and placed a hand on your chest, your eyebrows furrowed.
"You were listening!"
You both laughed out loud again.
