In the total panic and confusion as everyone carried Senku inside, you quietly followed, staying beside him and never wanting to leave his side. They set him on a bed and you all gathered around him, a lot of them were crying but you kept staring at him with a horrified expression, your face as pale as before.
"(Y/n)-chan..." Yuzuriha noticed how much you were shaking as she gently wept.
Everyone's cries rang in your ears, or maybe that was the bullet. Your mind was a complete mess, you couldn't think properly.

"Keep it together everyone!" Ryusui shouted, making you snap back to reality. "They're thinking 'With their science leader gone, those kids can never hope to match us in battle, and now we'll slowly squeeze the fight outta them until they surrender'! Now is our chance to strike back while the enemy is over-confident! Am I wrong?!"
You sniffed, your eyes getting watery.
"Sure you ain't wrong..." Yo said, looking away. "It might be our chance but... How can we just...move on from this...?"
"If nothing else...we gotta dig a grave for Senku." Ginrou rubbed his eyes.
Your heart sunk and you shouted without thinking.
"Shut the fuck up he is not dead!!!"
People looked at you worried, thinking you were saying this out of denial but then Ryusui spoke.
"Haha! True! Don't bury him just yet!"
And just then, Senku slowly opened his eyes and started to whisper in a weak and dry voice. You were the closest to him so you were able to make out what he was saying.
"Kukuku...I ain't dead yet dummies..." he smiled. "The fragments passed right through me, nice and clea-"
"Shut up, you shut up." you said with a shaky voice and covered his mouth with your hand as François quickly started to bandage his wounds. "Stop talking, rest."

"Amazing." Luna said, smiling faintly as tears flowed down her face. "To keep his wits about him like that...In the middle of a crisis..." she placed a hand in her heart.
You sent her a death glare which made her flinch and you were just about to go to her and punch the pink out of her, but just then you felt Senku slowly letting out a long sigh, his breath hitting your hand. Forgetting about everything else, you quickly removed your hand and looked back at him, fearing the worst, but then you saw that he only passed out. Your shoulders dropped as you let your head fall back with a huge sigh of relief.
"I've administered basic first aid but..." François said. "anything further requires a trained medical professional."
Your mind started to race, trying to look for a solution. Then you noticed Luna squeezing Senku's arm.
"Hey! Back off Pinkie!" you shouted.
"I-I'm sorry!" she took a step back with her hands raised. "I just wanted to check his blood pressure..." she said with a little voice.
Your expression fell.
"...Are you a doctor?" you finally asked.

Suddenly, everyone was looking at her, all this attention seemed to fluster her.
"Huh? Me? Obviously not, I'm just a kid!" she looked down, blushing slightly. "I'm just a...a medical student. I only got into school cuz of my dad's connections. I did work my butt off but I had to repeat a year-"
As she talked, you went around the table Senku was set on to be on her side. You knelled in front of her and bowed, your hands on the ground, she stopped talking when you did that.
"Luna. I beg of you. I don't care if you're a spy or if this your fault or not. Just..." your voice cracked and you paused, clenching your fists as your shoulders shook. "Please. Save Senku."
Seeing you like this made her speechless, Taiju went up to her and grabbed her hands, looking at her with teary eyes.
"Please Luna." he said. "We have no one else."

While everyone was discussing strategy, you stayed with Luna, Yuzuriha and Taiju to take care of Senku until he's back to full strength (at least enough for him to go out again without risking internal bleedings). When you had a moment alone, he looked at you.
"Did you really think I was gonna die?"
"Of course not. When I saw that bag, I knew you were up to something... But, Senku..." you gently held his hand in yours as tears quietly fell down your face. "You got shot."
He smiled softly.
"I would squeeze your hand but I don't have the energy to do that."
You huffed a laughed.
"Oh shut up." you said, wiping your tears away and rubbing your eye.

He then explained his plan to buy some time using the medusa that Ukyo had on him for some reason. Using his arrow he'd shoot the weapon right on Xeno's front door and he'll recognize that this thing isn't like anything he's ever seen before. And with Gen backing you up (because of course he'll instantly get it, he's a smart boy), Xeno will be kept at bay for a while. Also you got a call from Chrome and his team, using the code you guys had, they explained that they planned on inventing something to dig a tunnel underground so that they'd get inside Xeno's HQ without behind seen. He made a whole blueprint for his invention, he proudly called it the "Diggerific Rotating Impelling Land-eating Loop knife". You smiled and sent out some words
"Drill? Nice!"
"Dammit!" Chrome responded
You laughed, knowing him, he probably thought this was something completely new that he came up with. You took this opportunity to tell Ukyo what to do with the medusa.
After that, you reported back to Senku and he told you how to make some of the components plus how to finish the aircraft and the ship's makeover. You wrote all of this down and went back to the team to get them the plans. Basically you were his messenger. When the parts for the drill were done, Taiju volunteered to get the lab-car and get them to Chrome. He left after saying he left Senku in your hands.

"Sh-shouldn't he be resting?" Luna asked at some point as you were writing down what Senku was saying.
"I accepted at some point that nothing can keep him from being the science commander." you said in a monotonous voice.
You started walking to the exit without acknowledging her. She pursued her lips and looked down.
"Do you hate me?"
You stopped at the doorway.
'Oh no!' she panicked on the inside. 'It slipped out! I'm supposed to be smooth!'
A moment passed, then you sighed, rubbing your face.
"What am I doing?" you whispered to yourself before turning to her. "No, I don't hate you." you paused, looking down. "If anything, I'm just more angry at Xeno." you looked back at her, getting worked up. "Because he knew. He just learned that it was Senku, the kid he's been talking to for years! And yet..." your clenched your fist and sighed sharply, then you left the room in a rush.
Senku sighed. Then he instructed Luna to check his lungs and make a blood transfusion.

Meanwhile, as you gave your notes to Ryu, Kaseki and François, you thought: yeah staying mad at Luna was pretty stupid, it's almost been two weeks now. Maybe the fact your boyfriend got shot partly because of her played a part. But can she really be blamed for that?
'Surely she wouldn't have rat out her crush, she doesn't seem to be that type of girl.' you thought as you went back to the medical room. 'Unless she's really quick witted, which I doubt, she couldn't have pieced together that Senku was the science leader just 'cause he used to talk to Xeno. She still had Taiju as her target. Even if she did figure it out, she must've at least reported that discovery with the sniper-guy. And she didn't have any communication device on her, so if that's the case then she could only have gotten a few words out there, including his name.' you hummed, scratching your head. 'So she only said his name, and Xeno must've pieced it together on his own. If he's as big brain as Senku then he must've figured out what he looked like just with the few information given to him and with his memory from the modern day.'
You sighed, all this deducting brought you a slight headache. At least you were glad Luna wasn't as much at fault as you first thought.

'And she is the only one able to help Senku recover, if anything I should be thankful.'
Maybe the fact she's into Senku made you a bit bias, that thought made you let out a 'heh'. Just then you entered the room where her and Senku were.
"Once you're all better...will you be my boyfriend?"
You froze.
'Oh. The audacity.' you pursued your lips.

Meanwhile, Senku was shocked, he was not expecting that proposition. But he was confused about what do to: he knew he had to keep you guys' relationship a secret to her, but...would this be crossing the line? What would you think about this? He should at least talk to you before giving her an answer. He started to mumbled some gibberish.
"Huh?" Luna leaned over a bit.
"He said yes." you walked over.
She jumped in surprise and Senku looked at you with big eyes.
"Mmh..." she looked at him to have confirmation.

"Uh-sure! Sorta like a political marriage." he smiled. "And speaking of, you probably have some guys who follow you around right?"
"Yeah, a cute girl like you." you added, smiling.
"Y-you-You're not wrong!" she shrugged, acting like this was no big deal. "Obviously I'm such a capable gal that you'd just assume a thing like that right?"
"...Sure." your smile slowly grew larger, your eyes squinting.
"Heh, I don't know about your side's power structure." he said. "But I'm thankful if we get one or two more people on our side."
While she beamed with happiness, Senku glanced at you, still smiling and congratulating her. And, not gonna lie, he was getting worried. You offered her a drink at Bar François to celebrate and told her to go ahead. In her ecstatic state, she left without question, giggling.

"You sure you're okay with that?" Senku asked, not that you two were alone.
"Sure." you leaned closer and whisper in his ear. "When this is all over, I am going to make out with you. Right in front of her dumb, white privileged ass."
He puffed a chuckle.
"What?" you leaned back and smiled. "You like it when I'm the one being jealous?"
"Honestly? I'm actually relieved. Knowing you, you were too calm for my comfort."
You chuckled and gave him a peak on the lips before leaving.

A few days later, Luna seemed to have grown out of her euphoria and was now confused as to what to do now with her new "relationship". When everyone found out, you discreetly told them to play along. Yeah it was getting on your nerves when she'd brag about it, even if it was just an act to look confident, but you went through with it, knowing the look on her face later will be worth it.
'The side chick.' you'd tell yourself sometimes. 'She's just the side chick.'

"Soooo," she said one day as the two of you were back at Bar François to take a break. "I'm officially dating Senku now, right? But what does 'dating' even mean...?"
"Lady (Y/n) could answer you, she's the only one here who's already in a relationship." François smiled politely.
"Really?!" she looked over at you, one stool separating the two of you.
'Didn't expect you to be sneaky like that dude.' you glanced at François, who kept cleaning the glass they were holding.
"Yeah, I have a boyfriend." you smiled at her, resting your chin on the palm of your hand with your elbow on the counter.
"I-It's like," she bashfully played with her fingers. "what even changed for me? We don't get to hang out and-Heck, we don't even hold hands!" she realized what she was saying and straightened her back. "Of course I'm such a smooth operator that it obviously doesn't bother me!" you raised an eyebrow. "But, capable gal that I am. It's good to get different opinions!"
"Maybe it's because he's technically still in a hospital bed and we're in the middle of a crisis?" you mumbled as she turned to Kinrou, Yuzuriha, Kaseki and Nanami who were nearby.

"I mean, you're not about to tell me that Senku ten billion percent doesn't give a crap about dating and would say whatever I want to hear just to accomplish his goals right?" she asked, acting confident. "Because obviously nobody's ever be that outta line right?"
They looked at you, you smiled widely.
"Actually-" Kinrou was about to be honest to a fault when you cut him off.
"Of course not!" you waved your hands. "He would never~! Except that one time he got married for like five minutes and then ended it when he got what he wanted."
"He's a divorcé?!?!?!" she exclaimed.

Before your fun could continue, the sound of engine made you all look up to see Stanley's plane flying above the ship. You hurried to get Senku, he was now healthy enough to get on the aircraft to assist Ryu with the technical stuff.
"Be careful okay?" you said as you helped him get in his seat.
"No promises."
You smiled at each-other.
"That Stanley better bring his A-game!" Ryu said as he put on his pilot helmet. "Because in this fight, we'll avenge Senku!"
"Heh, I ain't dead yet."
"Make sure they pay for killing Senku!" you exclaimed.
"I'm not dead!"
You laughed and hopped off for them to take off.

You quickly went inside to take some binoculars and when you came back you joined the others to look at the fight. The two planes where flying around, trying to get behind their opponent to get a chance to shoot them down. The two sides used different flying techniques but in the end Ryusui cornered Stanley with a "cobra maneuver".
"God dammit! I can't see shit with these!" you said to yourself.
The two planes were too fast for you to get a closer look at how the guys were doing. But thankfully, at some point, you had a good look at Ryusui as he removed his helmet and leaned to the side, pointing a gun at the plane with an expression of intense focus.
'Oh that's hot!' you thought as you sighed of relief.

But then you frowned, was this really it? Was shooting you all with a single machine gun really Xeno's plan? What about that one hypothesis with the pirate ship? It was then you started to look around and walk along the edge of the ship, looking along the river.
"You feel it too right?"
You looked over to see Matsukaze, you nodded.
"That air attack is just too simple of a plan for someone like Xeno."
"Indeed, everyone's attention is drawn skyward because of this dramatic battle." he looked down at the water. "Which is precisely why I am wary of what may lurk below."
"Below...?"

You followed his gaze and the two of you stayed silent and motionless for a while. Your eyes narrowed as you noticed a big shadow in the water, slowly moving towards you. You gasped when it started to resurface and you started to ran the other direction.
"Submarine!!!" you shouted. "We got a submarine coming!"
Just then, they was an explosion, you were far enough to not be injured but you didn't know if Matsukaze avoided it. Not having time to think about that, you quickly found a door that led to below the deck and started running. Where? You didn't know yet.
'There's no way we can take them on with their artillery.' you thought. 'For now let's just find a safe place to thin-'
"Hello there!"
Your breath was caught in your throat as a big beefy guy with tiny sunglasses grabbed you by the collar and suddenly pulled you. You coughed and he took this opportunity to tie you up.
"There's still someone below decks!" he shouted, looking towards the nearby stairs.

Suddenly, someone behind him hit him hard on the temple and the man passed out on the floor, his head bleeding. You watched him as he fell, wondering if he was dead but then looked up when Mozu pulled on your rope and brought his face closer to yours. A big smirk on his face.
"I am so glad I now have a good excuse to beat the shit out of people, especially if they touched you!"
Your face twisted with disgust.
Your boyfriend got shot, his side chick thinks she's his main girl, and now you're being rescued by Mozu of all people.
Man, what a day.
