Guess who's back!

You called Magma every name you could think of when you saw that he hit Kinrou from behind, breaking Suika's helmet in pieces and knocking him out.

"How is that not a violation of the rules?!" you exclaimed after Jasper announced the winner.
"The match wasn't technically over when he did it." Senku explained.
"That's bullshit!"
"Calm down, it can't be help. Besides he took a considerable amount of damage in this fight, that is the most important thing."
You groaned, but didn't say anything.

"Second match! Chrome, Mantle, come forward!"
"Oh me?!" Chrome got startled.
"The problem is what comes next." Senku continued. "If Kohaku doesn't return by the time this match is over, she'll be disqualified."
"So you gotta go slow alright man?" you looked at Chrome.
"I know, I'll extent this fight as long as possible."
"Good, now go go go!"

After that badass fight, and knowing it was Chrome versus a piece of shit, your standards weren't that high. But even then you felt very underwhelmed. They looked like kids in kindergarden.
Then suddenly, the little bugger (who you refused to consider as a human being) let himself fall on the ground and cried mercy.
"The winner is Chrome!" Jasper announced.

Senku clicked his tongue and you looked back at the bridge. You gasped when you saw Kohaku in the distance, running over.
"Oh girl come on! Come on!"
"Due to Kohaku's absence, the winner of the third match...is Senku!"
"She's right over there!" you said, but knowing it was useless to protest just frustrated you. "Oh my god!"

"Suika!" she fell on her knees once she joined you guys, completely out of breath.
"Kohaku! You just barely missed the fight!" Chrome said.
"I'm sorry!" the little girl ran up to her. "I got captured by Mantle-"
"I'm so glad!" she held her in her arms. "I'm so glad that Mantle was lying after all! I'm glad you didn't drown, that's all I care about!"
Suika got emotional over Kohaku's compassion for her and got teary eyes.

"God dammit Kohaku..." you mumbled.
"You're still mad at me?" she looked up at you after letting go of Suika.
"I mean, of course not." you sighed, your eyebrows furrowed. "You were doing this for Suika, and you did what you believed was the right thing. I can't be mad at that. It's just that-" you sighed, running a hand through your hair.
Kohaku smiled and stood up, understanding that you were just frustrated.

"Now that our final line of defense is done... The only battle power that the Kingdom of Science has left...is you." he looked over to the blond young man. "The guardian Ginrou!"
"Yes! Okay boy! You got this!"

"Does he have any chance of beating Magma?" Chrome whispered to Kohaku.
"To be honest, it's gonna be pretty rough..."
"Shut up!" you waved your hands around. "We don't need your bad vibes right now! Like, I am clinging for some hope right now, so please!"

"Don't worry (Y/n), in this village games of schemes, it's not necessarily the strongest who will win!" Ginrou exclaimed and pointed at his stuffed cheek. "Haven't you all been dying to know what I had in my mouth this whoooole time?!"
"I mean, it's pretty obvious."
"Those are the raw ingredients from Senku power up drink right?!" Chrome said.
"What are you, a chipmunk, storing those for the long winter?" Senku raised an eyebrow.
"I was still stuffing them right before the village games began!"
"And he's proud of it too..." you mumbled, still trying to cling onto the little hope you had.

"Fourth match! Ginrou, Argo, walk forward!"
"Is it even good for him? Eating the ingredients raw?" you leaned closer to Senku.
"It'll just give him an awful stomachache." he smiled. "But in such a situation, it's just best not to say anything."

After swallowing everything stuffed in his cheeks, Ginrou became more wobbly. But when he attacked, his speed has greatly improved and he hit his opponent a bunch of times.
"Just so I'm clear on this, it didn't improve his strength right?" you asked Senku.
"He's just totally amped from his first experience with caffeine." he said. "Be it a wrong assumption or convinced otherwise, it's not even one millimeter of a bad thing."

Suddenly, his opponent attacked back with numerous hits. Ginrou chuckled, it didn't seemed like he felt any pain. Unlike the rest of you upon seeing his beat up face.
"This is hard to watch." you looked away.
Ginrou pushed his opponent off the cliff and was declared the winner. But not long after that did he ran away, his stomachache getting the better of him.

"You know," you said to no one in particular. "I feel like after this, it's only going to go downhill from here."
Senku chuckled, although he felt similarly.

"Though I'm sure you're already well aware of the situation," he told Chrome. "if we let Magma make it to the finals, it's game over."
"Be it Ginrou who beaten all over, or be it you Senku. Your chances of beating Magma are zero." Kohaku added.
"Right. Which means our only chance to save Ruri, is for me to beat Magma."
"Semi finals! Magma, Chrome, walk forward!"

"Come on man." you rubbed your hands together, mostly amping yourself up. "Come on, power of love, come on."
"Since when do you believe in that bullshit?" Senku asked.
"I don't! I am still clinging onto some kind of hope!"

Chrome bravely rushed forward to hit his target, and was violently beat up before he could do anything. Now lying on the ground, Magma continued to hit him, just to torment him. That fuckin asshole. Chrome's face was was smeared with his own blood, tears and sweat at this point. But he didn't gave up, he even crawled over to the biggest piece left of Suika's glasses and protected it.
"I can't watch this, I just can't." you turned your back on this horrible scene, shaking your head.

Then, at the end of the bridge, you noticed a familiar silhouette. He had a kimono-like outfit, black and blond hair. And a just an overall weasel vibe to him-oh shit!
But before you could even react to his presence, you heard Magma shout and turned back to look at the match. Chrome was holding a part of Suika's glasses with the end of his weapon, and he stood still.

"Oh my god, he's lost it."
"No, but he is making a huge mistake." Senku said. "He's trying to use the lens from the glasses to ignite Magma's clothes."
"But they're glasses not magnifying lenses!"
"Exactly, they're ten billion percent incapable of staring a fire." he then shouted. "It won't work Chrome!"
"Don't worry about it Senku." he said. "I'm the science user Chrome after all!"
He breathed slowly, as if trying to calm his shaky self.

"It can't be..." Senku's eyes widen in realization.
"What what? What is it?!" you looked at him.
"When he was protecting Suika's mask, he collected water in the lens and created a fire-starting convex lens!"
"Oh my god, that's genius." you said, astonished.
"Yeah but, can that thing reeeeeally start a fire? Like for realsies?"
"Yeah, it's called a burning glass." he explained. "Fires have even been started by convex lenses created from suction cups and air-" he stopped talking.

You both turned around to see Asagiri Gen, standing on top of one of the pole holding the bridge.
"Long time no see~!"
And now that he was in front of you, you could react to his return.

"You weasel son of a bitch! How did you get up here?!"
"Oh (Y/n)-chan~! I just got back after a long time and you welcome me with insults?" he wore a hurtful expression, though he still genuinely hated the weasel thing.
"It's been a rough day!"
"What are you doing here?!" Kohaku asked.
"Isn't the person we should be worried about right now is Chrome?" he smiled. "I need the Kingdom of Science to be victorious you know? I got cola riding on this."

"Kukuku, you've been watching us for a while haven't you ya bastard?" Senku smiled.
Gen jumped down from the pole to face him.
"How many seconds does Chrome need to start his fire? That's the key point."
"You ask that easily enough, but that's no casual calculation to do. But sit tight, I'll crank it out right now."

He held a finger in front of his face, something he did whenever he needed his brain to work hard and fast, and, using your terms, he went in the zone. His stare was focused and intense, and he disregarded everything surrounding him. After a short while, he smiled.
"Sixty seconds. That'll do it." he put his hands on his hips.
'Damn that was hot.' you smiled.
"Okay~! Now it's time for the mentalist's work!" Gen ran away to do his part of the job.

A while later, you saw him standing on top of the chief's hut at the top of the stairs.
'Is he an acrobat or someshit?!'
"Oh~ little Magma!" he yelled, smiling mischievously. "You went through so much trouble last time we met didn't you?! Thank you for killing me~!"
Magma was horrifying.
"You're-You're that outsider sorcerer! How in the world?!"
"Well that's obvious, sorcery of course!"

Gen moved his hands around and suddenly, flower petals pooffed out of his sleeves, gently floating down onto Magma.
"Alrighty Magma!" he said. "I just cast a spell on you! If you take even one more step, your heart will explode!"
The big guy gasped and placed a hand on his chest.
"This sorcery counts as outside interference! It's against the rules!" he shouted.

"Sure, if you explode that is." Senku smiled.
"Right! Unless he's bluffing," you smiled, the two of you taunting him. "then there's nothing to be afraid of. Taunts from the crowd are totally fine."
"Then why don't you move and find out~?"
"Unless he's not bluffing and your heart does explode into pieces. He did came back from the dead after all."
"There's only one way to find out~."
"But do you really wanna take that risk~?"

Magma squeezed his chest, he seemed conflicted about what to do.
"Chrome-chan, while Magma is unable to move, take him out!" Gen acted as if he was concentrating.
Chrome looked at him for a second, he seemed to understand his plan.
"I... I can't~! I must've pulled my back...or something, I can't move from this position!"
"That is some seriously crapstacular acting." Kohaku said.
"It's fine, Gen is compensating for it." you smiled.

"Please hurry!" he was shaking, as if he was struggling. "This spell...is taking a lot of my magic powers! I can only...keep him still for...one minute!"
Magma sighed of relief before laughing, his full confidence back.
"Looks like I'm safe Chrome! With you stuck there, all I have to do is sit still until that sorcerer runs out of energy!"
"Oh no~!" you cupped your face in your hands, fighting the urge to smile. "What a predicament~!"

But Chrome was still shaking from the exhaustion and the pain.
"The rest is up to you Chrome." Senku quietly said.
"Think happy thoughts or something!" you shouted.

You could tell he was struggling. He closed his eyes, he took a deep breath, then slowly opened them again, his expression neutral and his body motionless. You held your breath and played with your fingers, the pressure getting to you. Senku noticed but before he could do or say anything, a little flame appeared on his clothes, making you gasp. Magma patted it but it just lit his whole outfit on fire and he screamed, to your upmost delight.
"Don't worry Magma!" Chrome said. "I don't plan to kill you, so I'll be super kind and help you out real nicely!"
He then hit Magma straight in the dick, and rotated his weapon before pushing him over the cliff. You gasped again.
"He twisted it!!!" you raised your hands with a huge smile.
"The winner is Chrome!" Jasper announced.

"Which means the only remaining challengers are our allies!" Suika shouted.
"It's a complete and udder victory for the Kingdom of Science!" Senku added.
"Ma boy!!!" you ran over to Chrome and so did the others.
You ruffled his hair but then had to step back from the group to calm yourself from this elevator of emotion you've just experienced.

"I've never seen you this happy before."
You turned towards Gen.
"The rough day's over!" you sighed, still smiling.
"I should probably leave the village, I'm just an outsider, which means Kinrou the gatekeeper isn't gonna be happy about that." he began to walk towards the bridge. "As far as what I came here to say, I'll tell Senku-chan about it after he fully takes command of this village."

"Thanks for your help. You really saved our asses on that one."
"Oh, by the way," he looked back at you. "I noticed you got yourself some new toys." he smiled. "Can't wait to see how good you are."
You weren't really sure how to respond to that, you weren't used to him being nice to you, if he wasn't just pretending.
"...yeah."

He chuckled at what you said and walked across the bridge.
Despite what he said, Gen was bothered.

He was bothered by the fact that he didn't like it when you turned your back on him.
