Kaneki's P.O.V.

Hide wasn't in bed when I woke up. He already went to work without saying goodbye? Maybe he just didn't want to wake me up. I just laid there for a few minutes before I saw a piece of paper on Hide's bedside table. I moved so I could get it.

It said:

Hey honey, sorry I left without saying goodbye. I didn't want to wake you up because you need your rest. Nishiki said he would check on you during his break. He'll tell me how you're doing. So if I come home and you try to hide something bad that's going with you. I would probably already know. Love you. See you when I come home.

P.S. I left the air conditioning up for you.

I lightly smiled. You can call him a little protective. But it is nice that he looks after me. I put the piece of paper back on his bedside table. And I realized I was still in the hoodie and had put on sweatpants. I just laid on Hide's side of the bed. His sent was still there. As I was starting to fall back asleep, I took his pillow and hid my face in it. His sent could always put me to sleep. I never told him this because I'm embarrassed to tell him that. Married or not.

I was asleep for awhile before I woke up to knocking at the door. I was a little confused, until I remembered why there would be knocking at the door. I slowly got up and walked downstairs, not stumbling this time. I opened the door and saw Nishiki with a backpack.

"You look like shit." He said. I know I haven't looked at myself in a mirror in days.

"I feel like shit." Then there was a few moments of silence before I said something, "You can come in if you want." He nodded and I moved so he could get in. He walked in and I offered to make coffee. He sat on the couch and kept his eye on me. My hands were lightly shaking. Then Nishiki walked over and stopped me.

"I'll make the coffee." He said.

"No, no I can do it."

"No your hands are shaking." I gave up and sat on the couch. After a little bit he came back with coffee. He handed me a mug and sat down next to me. There was another silence before he said something.

"I brought you some food." Oh, so that's why he had a backpack. Why didn't I smell it?

"Thanks."

"So, what happened for you to be like this?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Okay." The rest of the time he was there we just talked a little.

"I'm going to go. My break is almost over."

"Alright." I said before he took the meat package out of his backpack and put it on the coffee table. I said goodbye to him before he left. After he did leave, I put the mugs in the sink and the package in the fridge. Then I went back upstairs and got into bed.

I was tired but couldn't go to sleep. So I just laid there until Hide came home. I knew it was hours, but to me it felt like minutes. I heard the front door open.

"Honey, I'm home." I herad him say. I didn't respond. Then I heard foot steps come upstairs and the bedroom door open. And I felt him sit on the bed. I looked over my shoulder before I rolled onto my back.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, just tired."

"Want me to lay down with you?"

"That would be nice."

"Alright, I'll change first."

"No, just take off your hat." I said before reaching up and took his hat off.  And throw it on the floor. He laid on his back and I laid on his chest.

"Nishiki said that your hands were shaking. What happened?"

"I tried to make coffee and my hands just shook."

"Okay. I love you."

"Love you too." I said before falling asleep.
