Prologue
A/N: Okay so I don't usually do long prologues but for this one I'll make an exception.
Julian Albert
Julian couldn't deny what was true anymore. It was too painful but it was also painful to admit it. He treated the person he was in love with like complete shit. And by now he was pretty sure he hated him. And the person he was madly, deeply, truly and crazily in love with was Barry Allen.
Why did he treat Barry the way he did, you might ask?
Because Barry got away with everything at work, outside of work...everywhere. And Julian figured that if he pretended to hate Barry then eventually he would. But that's not what happened. Instead he ended up falling for him even more.
Julian fell hard for Barry and nothing could change that.
Julian and Barry were in the lab together at CCPD working on a case separately and it was silent, save for the lab equipment humming. The silence was comforting at first but then it began to get suspicious. Usually Barry would hum a song or start talking and asking him questions.
"Okay Allen why so quiet?" Julian demanded looking up at him.
Barry glanced up from what he was doing and Julian immediately wished he hadn't. Barry's eyes were dark with exhaustion and there were dark circles under his eyes. Not to mention he was as pale as a corpse. He looked sick.
Barry looked like he couldn't even keep his eyes open, let alone speak.
"I don't want to talk." Barry stated. His voice was so quiet and hoarse Julian had to strain to hear.
Julian stared at him in surprise and kicked himself mentally. How had he not seen that Barry looked like death?
"You look like shit Allen." He said.
Barry stood up so suddenly that Julian was taken aback and Barry himself swayed on his feet. "You think I need you to tell me that?! I feel like shit!"
Julian felt bad for saying that and he opened his mouth to apologize when Barry suddenly keeled over, gripping his stomach and gasping in pain. Julian bolted out of his seat and rushed to Barry's side, trying to see what the problem was.
"Barry! Barry what hurts?!" Julian exclaimed frantically.
Barry looked into his eyes and Julian inhaled sharply. In Barry's eyes Julian could see pain. More pain than he'd want to see...and Barry was pleading.
"Everything." Barry told him.
Julian didn't know what to do as Barry gasped again and collapsed to the floor. He stood frozen for a couple seconds before he knelt by Barry's side and shook his shoulder.
"Barry? Hey Barry open your eyes." Julian said. No response. "Barry?"
When Julian couldn't wake him up, he began to examine him from head to toe. Literally. Julian found himself slowly looking over every part of Barry's body and when he reached his shirt he slowly lifted it up and was surprised to see a six-pac.
Julian always knew Barry had to have a hot body. Mainly because he was the Flash and he had speed, which meant he had a faster metabolism. After finishing up his exam and finding nothing wrong he frowned.
Julian jumped to his feet and rushed down the stairs to the common area and grabbed Joe and Captain Singhe.
"Something's wrong with Barry!"
Joe frowned. "What?!"
Joe and Captain Singhe followed Julian back up to the lab where Barry was still lying on the floor. If it was possible he looked even worse. Joe knelt beside Barry and felt his neck for a pulse.
"His pulse is weak." Joe said shaking his head. He placed his ear close to Barry's mouth and listened to his breathing. He shook his head again. "His breathing is ragged."
"Help me get him up." Singhe said. Julian grabbed Barry's armpits while Singhe grabbed his legs and they hoisted him up onto the lab table. From there they just watched him.
"What do you think is wrong with him?" Julian asked.
"Definitely nothing good if it's having this much of an effect on him." Singhe says.
"When he came in did you notice anything strange about him?" Joe demanded.
Julian thought about it. "He was unusually quiet and when I asked him about it he sort of freaked out. Then I saw that he didn't look too good and...I made a comment; he started a rant, complained about his stomach and keeled over." Julian paused. "And then he just...passed out."
"With his metabolism...should he even be able to get sick?" Singhe asked.
"No." Was all Joe said.
Julian was sure there was something more to this than what lay above the surface. He knew that something was seriously wrong with Barry and he was stuck taking care of him.
