grayish-black tabby tom with black markings on his body and face. his darker coloration is a sign of his shadowclan heritage, but the longer and sleeker quality of his fur reflects his riverclan half. has sky-blue eyes and a gray underbelly, as well as two prominent scars―one over his nose, and the other across his jaw. although his thicker coat makes it hard to see, he's very well-built.

𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕘𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕
Nightshade's parents—Rowanheart and Silverstripe—were warriors of ShadowClan and RiverClan respectively. After meeting at a Gathering and developing a mutual attraction, they met in secret for a few months, until Rowanheart revealed herself to be pregnant with Silverstripe's kits. They split shortly after. Two months later, Rowanheart gave birth to Nightkit and Rainkit in ShadowClan without the support of a mate. A famine was sweeping through the Clan at the time, and she feared her kittens wouldn't survive. Desperate to save their lives, she begged her former mate to take them into RiverClan, to which he agreed. Nightkit and Rainkit were nursed by Feathershine, a RiverClan queen at the time, while Silverstripe did his best to be a warrior and and father to them.

Nightkit and Rainkit were looked down on by many for being half-clan, and this didn't change as they grew older and received their warrior names, Nightshade and Rainsong. One of the only cats to consistently be friendly to them was Stormbreeze, a she-cat who had grown up alongside them. While Rainsong remained cheerful, refusing to let the negativity of other cats impact her, Nightshade took it to heart. He grew resentful and spiraled into self-hatred, developing a disdain for his heritage and for other cats. There would be hope for his bitter heart, however―as Nightshade matured, he developed feelings for Stormbreeze, which would require him to open up and mature a bit if he wanted a chance with her. Who knows? Maybe Stormbreeze could help him.

Nightshade is currently a full-fledged RiverClan warrior, serving as one of the Clan's most skilled swimmers. He and his sister still occasionally see and catch up with their mother at Gatherings.

cold, reserved, and oh so moody. thanks to the poor treatment he received for being half-clan, he's grown to have a general dislike for other cats, hardly speaking to anyone besides his family or stormbreeze. he's also grown to have a dislike for his heritage; he hates himself for being half-clan, thinks of himself as lesser because of it, and wishes things had been different. however, he hides these feelings beneath a facade of cold indifference, and it works on anyone he isn't close with. aside from this, nightshade is still a highly-disciplined and focused warrior, rarely having time for fun and games. he's also fiercely protective of and compassionate toward those he cares for.

•nightshade has a strained relationship with both his parents. while he still cares for them, a part of him wishes that they had chosen mates from their own clans, so they wouldn't have had half-clan kits.
