Fairy Tale was born and raised in Sire's Hollow. As a filly, she dreamed of living a fairy tale, of going on magical adventures and living happily ever after with friends and even a handsome prince. However, her reality was quite different from her fairy tales. Thanks to her shy and reclusive nature, she had trouble making friends and expressing herself, and consequently was quite lonely. She developed a love of writing to cope, allowing her to live out her fantasies through the stories she wrote. Her quill became her best friend, and her stories became an escape from reality. Before long, she knew she wanted to be an author, realizing that her stories could help other ponies feel less alone the same way they did for her. Upon coming to this conclusion, she earned her cutie mark.

When Fae grew older, she impulsively moved to Canterlot, hoping the change of scenery would inspire her to finish her first novel and kickstart her writing career. Her eagerness to move and lack of planning quickly caught up to her when she arrived; she was lost, with no permanent place to stay, no way to make a living yet, and no one to guide her. While exploring the city, she wandered into a gift shop owned by an earth pony named Curio Trinket, where she tripped over her own mane and broke one of his most expensive items. Curio took pity on her and struck her a deal: he'd allow her to move in with him, and in exchange, she'd work for him until she was able to pay off the cost of the broken merchandise. She agreed and moved in, and a friendship began to bloom between the two of them - the first real friendship Fairy Tale ever had.

Fae currently lives with Curio in his loft above his store. She works in his gift shop during the day and works on her novel late into the night, and he supports her all the while.

fairy tale is a dreamer with her head in the clouds. she's naturally socially awkward and withdrawn by nature, but she's a sweetheart once you get to know her. huge book nerd and could ramble for hours about her favorite fantasy novels and authors. highly creative and sees the world as an untold story, and the ponies in it as unique characters, and she desires more than anything to share her ideas with them. she's highly passionate about creative expression and the arts, and enjoys it in all forms, from books to movies to plays. however, fae is too idealistic for her own good and tends to dream too big. she makes decisions based on how they make her feel in the moment, not thinking about the consequences, causing her to bite off more than she can chew. she's also notoriously clumsy and trips over her own mane constantly, to the point it causes problems for herself and others.
