What If... Hypothetically... Logan Died
Prongs paced back and forth. Ivlisar sat in wolf form, watching her as always. Prongs snarled, making the palace healer back away nervously.
Ice covered most of the floor. "I should've done more," Prongs growled. "I could have healed him. I could have-"
Ivlisar cut her off with a gentle bark and a whine. Prongs dropped into a chair, her breath shook. Her head dropped and she closed her eyes.
"I'm very sorry, Captain," the healer said quietly. "I did what I could."
Prongs snorted. "It wasn't enough. Nothing is. I can see him can't I?"
The healer nodded and Prongs got to her feet. She swept past the healer into the smaller room where Logan was. The others will go soon too. Nothing is forever. This must be what eternal torment feels like.
Yojne stood up when Prongs entered. His face showed he was trying to be strong, but his eyes showed his sorrow. He looked so much like his father. Blue eyes, unkempt black hair, and lanky build. "Mother..." he trailed off, looking at her closer.
Prongs looked down at the bed Logan lay in. His once black hair was gray, his eyes closed, chest still. Prongs looked at Yojne, her eyes slowly starting to turn blue. "What is it Yojne?"
Yojne blinked in surprise. "Mother, are you feeling alright? Your eyes don't quite look right."
Prongs blinked slowly. Her eyes shifting to ice blue when they opened. "I feel fine," she said coldly.
Yojne moved closer. "But-" he stopped abruptly when he saw her expression.
The door flew open as Prongs' daughter, Tuliphis, rushed inside. Her long black hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail and her heavy armor clanked loudly. When her eyes fell on Logan, tears welled in her eyes. "Oh gods..."
Prongs left, ignoring both Yojne and Tuliphis when they tried to call her back. Prongs ran through the halls, feeling much like she had so many years ago after returning without Conri. This was so much worse.
Anger, fear, and sadness mixed together to form something Prongs didn't understand. Ice spread in all directions as she ran, servants and guards alike froze in their daily activities. Prongs burst outside.
It was a bright, cheerful summers day for only a moment. The temperature plunged, clouds rolled in, and ice spread across the ground. Small flakes of snow started to fall, first only a few, but quickly growing into a near blizzard. Prongs dropped to the ground and knelt silently, her head bowed.
A familiar voice called to her, but she ignored it. Even as it came closer.
She heard four people walking through the gathering snow. A moment later, two figures knelt next to Prongs, one on either side, and two more in front.
Rhiannon, Aylen, Conri, and Yojne. None of them spoke a word. Yojne and Rhiannon were the only two that didn't shiver occasionally.
The four became five, six, seven, and eight as the rest of the court and Tuliphis joined them. Several minutes later, Ivlisar nudged his way between Prongs and Aylen. Prongs never moved, only knelt with her head drooped. Small icy droplets falling to the snow.
For those of you who don't know who Logan is. He's one of my characters in the Kingdom of Misfits. In this, he dies of some sickness at an old age. The rest of the court would be older at this point as well, unless they've developed immortality or Charles really does live on because he's possessed by a freaking demon. XD
Anyway, here you go Aylen. I was going to make Prongs turn evil, but that wouldn't actually happen until the rest of the court died too so you don't have to worry. :)
