The Arrival of Cyclops
I told you there would be random shorts. This is completely off the top of my head. I don't know how Scott actually arrives, but I need to write this because I think it will be fun.

"Kate?"
Kate looked up from her science textbook. "Hey X. What's up?"
Charles took his right arm off of the armrest of his wheelchair and beckoned to her. "Come with me. You'll be interested in this."
Kate carefully placed her bookmark into the textbook, making sure it was just above the line she'd been reading. "What is it?"
Charles started driving down the hallway with Kate close behind. "A young mutant just arrived and he has a rather interesting power. He's quite fascinating if I do say so myself."
Kate knew in the back of her mind, even without looking into Charles' head, that he wanted her to see for herself.
She opened the door to the front yard for Charles and they exited the house.
A boy, no more than fifteen years old, sat on the stone bench next to the driveway. He had short, dark brown hair, and held a position that made it look like he was at ease with his surroundings.
Kate noticed almost immediately that one of the bushes in the center of the roundabout was nothing more than a short blackened stick with a couple scraggly branches. She raised an eyebrow at Charles.
"Ah... yes that was mostly my doing," Charles gave Kate a carefree kind of smile. "I hope you don't mind?"
Kate sighed. Of course she minded, but there was no way she'd say that out loud. She'd have to ask Fern to grow it back later.
The boy had heard the conversation and had turned in their direction. His eyes were closed, so his head was turned to about two feet to the left of the pair.
Kate walked up to him and sat down. "Charles made me rather intrigued with you. What can you do?"
The boy turned his head toward her, eyes still closed. "The last time I did it I burned the bush. Do you want me to do it again? I could if you want me to but..."
"No. Just tell me what it is. I don't need you burning the house down."
The boy took a deep breath. "Whenever I open my eyes... lasers shoot out. I can't control it... can't turn it off or tone it down. It's like a machine that only runs at high power that you can't turn off."
Kate thought for a moment. "I'll have our tech people look into getting you something to control that. How about you come inside?"
The boy hesitated. "I don't even know who you are!"
"I'm Kate, the dork who talked to you first is Charles, but I'm usually referred to as Professor Z and he's usually Professor X."
"I'm Scott Summers."
Kate smiled, even though she knew he couldn't see her. "I'll introduce you to our tech team when we're inside. Sound good?"
Scott got to his feet. "I can't see though."
Kate reached into his mind and showed him everything in front of him. "Stay relaxed and I'll guide you."
~One Month Later~
Scott felt the laser guard being placed over his eyes and recognized Hank's gruff voice and fuzzy hands. "Does that feel okay Scott?"
Scott moved his head around experimentally, keeping his eyes closed. He'd learned from the first trail that you couldn't always put your trust in technology after he blasted a hole in the ceiling up to the second level of the mansion. "It feels a little weird right now, but I can get used to it."
"Great," Kate's voice said from somewhere off to his left. "Open your eyes. The window's open, so the most damage you'll do is starting a tree on fire."
"Wonderful," Scott grumbled, but he opened his eyes anyway.
The first thing he saw was a beautiful view of rolling hills and trees covered with the gold and red leaves of autumn through a huge window with white curtains. He looked to his left and saw Kate leaning against the wall with a huge grin. Her green eyes sparkled and her blonde hair draped over one shoulder.
"No lasers?" Scott asked, though he already knew the answer.
"No lasers," Hank confirmed. "There's a dial just in front of your right ear that can change the glass so you can shoot anything as long as you can reach the dial."
Scott almost jumped when he saw Hank, all bright sky blue and covered in fur. He recovered quickly and grinned. "Thank you."
"Jean helped," Hank said modestly, gesturing to a teenage girl with bright orange hair.
Scott found himself tongue-tied for a second. "Uh, thank you both then. I really appreciate it."
Jean smiled, tucking some stray hair behind her ear. "No problem."
"I've been thinking, how we all have nicknames. Scott, what do you think about being called Cyclops?" Kate asked.
Scott looked over at her and grinned. "That sounds awesome."

I'm proud of myself. :D :D I think that was pretty good if I do say so myself. I could have stuck the ending a little better, but... new stuff. (CACW reference... sort of)
I hope you all enjoyed this and like it as much as I do.
May the speed force be with you and remember that Wolverine would much prefer yellow spandex. :)
