Season one, chapter thirty-eight

"I will never turn my back
on people who need me"

WHEN THEA arrived at the amusement park that she, SooJin and SuHo were going to, she couldn't help but question whether to turn around and let SooJin clear things up on her own, though on the other hand Thea had already promised her that she would accompany her and be there with her at all times.

"God, what have I gotten myself into?" Thea murmured, sighing deeply. She hadn't even had time to tell her boyfriend that she was going out with her friend. Besides, what would he think if she told him that SuHo would be there? Would he get jealous?

Thea smiled amusedly as she imagined the curly boy acting jealous, although that gave her the temptation to try some method to make him act that way she didn't want him to do the same in return, so leaving those thoughts aside she began to walk towards the entrance of the amusement park.

The place was full of people and Thea didn't like that very much, there also seemed to be many couples holding hands and that made her miss the presence of her boyfriend even more. Now she was only going to be the third wheel between her two best friends, would it be the right thing to turn around and leave before it's too late?

"Where do you think you're going?" SooJin asked as Thea hurriedly turned around with the intention of heading back the way she came

"A-Ah I was going to look for the bathroom, yes, the bathroom" Thea said nervously, avoiding her friend's penetrating gaze

"What a good excuse, but I won't fall for that" SooJin exclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest. Thea sighed, realizing that nothing she said would convince the black-haired girl. "Oh, look, SuHo's here." She pointed behind Thea, blushing the second her eyes made contact with SuHo's

Thea bit her lower lip, here we go with the awkward moments, she thought. After having abandoned him on their date the other time without any explanation, she must admit that she is a little embarrassed to meet him.

"It's been a long time since the three of us got together" SuHo began to say once he was next to both girls. One of them with her heart beating like crazy while the other feeling extremely uncomfortable under his presence "Isn't that right Thea?" He turned to the aforementioned girl who let out a nervous laugh as she nodded her head not wanting to answer him

"Yes, you're right. But now that the three of us are here, where would you like to go first?" SooJin asked, noticing the tension between the two but with excitement radiating from her huge smile

And from one moment to the next Thea had been dragged onto the roller coaster, SooJin's screams combined with the rest of the people's who were going there with them. Thea thought her friend would choose a romantic tour between couples, so that she and SuHo could spend more time together but apparently she was wrong.

Suddenly Thea felt SuHo's hand intertwine with hers, thus taking their intertwined hands into the air. Though for SooJin on the other hand that did not go unnoticed and a bitter feeling made its way onto her chest, her smile and happiness faded in a matter of seconds. Although she put it aside when the trip was over.

They went to different types of attractions and in all of them SuHo seemed more attached to Thea than anyone else. That made SooJin feel slightly hurt at seeming to be the third wheel, although she knew that Thea was no longer interested in him and that she already had a romantic relationship with someone else, she couldn't help but think that maybe deep inside Thea there were still feelings towards SuHo.

"Let's go there" Thea pointed to a booth where people could throw darts to pop the balloons and win a prize "It's your time to shine" Thea whispered to SooJin who instantly put a smile on her face

When they arrived at the stall, SooJin asked for the darts and with agility managed to strike out three balloons in one attempt. Thea cheered encouraging her to throw the last two darts, SuHo on the other hand didn't seem that impressed and instead seemed to want to be alone with Thea. He tugged her jacket sleeve catching her attention within seconds.

"Shall we go to the haunted house?" SuHo whispered to her with his gaze on the black haired girl next to him to show that he was paying attention

"Is there a haunted house here?" Thea whispered back with both of her eyebrows raised

"Yes, do you want to go for that second round?" However, when SooJin received her prize, she came across the scene that crushed her heart. Of course, it was normal for friends to smile and laugh at funny things, but the shine in SuHo's eyes showed how in love he was with Thea

I really don't have a chance, do I? SooJin asked herself, feeling the lump begin to form in her throat.

"Why don't we go on the boat rides?" SooJin questioned, doing her best to hide her frown. "I want to relax a little and admire the scenery with my two favorite people."

"Of course, why not?" Thea nodded approaching her friend who didn't seem to feel well after all "Congratulations by the way, is that the grand prize? How nice! You're very good at this!"

But SooJin longed to hear that from SuHo, who seemed to be so mesmerized by Thea's beauty that she felt like she couldn't fight against Thea because she knew that her best friend was better than her in every aspect, there's no way to win a fight she already lost.

Thea sat on the cold material that the pink swan-shaped boat was made of. She had never been on this type of attraction since most of her life she focused on her studies and family.

"Do you think I can sit here?" SuHo asked pointing to the empty spot next to Thea

"Yes, of course, where's SooJin?" She asked, seeing no trace of the black-haired girl anywhere, had she left without telling her?

"She went to the bathroom, she said she'd come in a minute, that we should wait for her" SuHo explained taking a seat next to the brown haired girl who awkwardly cleared her throat

"Then let's wait...." Thea started to say before unexpectedly taking SuHo's hand as the boat suddenly began to move forward "Hey, wait...! I'm sorry!" She let go of SuHo's hand rushing to look for her phone inside her bag

"What are you doing?" SuHo asked curiously as he noticed how alarmed the girl seemed

"I'll call SooJin to stop the ride and then we can get on with her" Thea explained, looking for her friend among her contacts

"Thea..." SuHo placed one of his hands on Thea's, forcing her to stop doing what she was doing "SooJin planned all this, I asked her to help"

"You what?" Thea asked in surprise removing her hands from SuHo's "SuHo, why are you doing all this?" Thea sighed frustratedly, she was really getting tired from all his futile attempts to get back with her. "I'm going to be honest with you and tell you the truth..."

"I like you a lot Thea, every time I'm close to you my heart starts to beat like crazy" SuHo began to say, interrupting her, knowing where all this was going "I would like to be the one you think about day and night, the person who makes you smile unconsciously and when you least realize it, you're calling me when you need me. I ask you to please give me a chance to make you happy, I don't care if you're really in love with Mun, I can make you forget about him and maybe...."

"Actually Mun and I are dating" Thea interrupted him, changing her expression to a soft one when she noticed the sudden change in SuHo's face

"What?" SuHo asked with a trembling voice, praying to the gods that he had heard wrong

"Mun and I are dating" Thea repeated "I'm so sorry, but I couldn't keep it hidden for long, he deserved to know and it turned out that the feeling was mutual"

"Ah... then I don't have a chance anymore do I?" SuHo asked with a small voice, feeling tears threatening to come out of his eyes. "After all, SeoJun was right when he said that I was destined to be alone."

"It's not true, there's actually a person who loves you very much. Since we were eight years old to be exact" Thea hastened to say, placing one of her hands on the shoulder of the boy who once had her heart

"If it's not you then who could it be?" SuHo asked now tears falling down his red cheeks

"She's been in front of you all this time but you decided to ignore her because you were blinded by a fantasy that was only in your head" Thea gently wiped the tears on SuHo's cheeks who closed his eyes enjoying the touch of the brown haired girl "SooJin, she actually loves you, SuHo. But you let her go, and if you don't go after her right now it may be the last time you see her."

"SooJin? She....?" SuHo questioned with his eyes wide open, he certainly wasn't expecting that answer

"You'll let her go too? Don't make the same mistake twice, she can be your happy ending" Thea encouraged him, and every word that came out of her mouth made him reasoned

"You're right, I can't let her go without having tried anything. Thank you so much Thea, you were and always will be my first love" SuHo exclaimed softly finally letting go of the girl who once had his heart "Thank you for everything... "

Thea smiled proudly for SuHo, who had finally let her go like a little butterfly. Their gazes connected for a few milliseconds before joining in a hug full of emotions.

When the boat trip ended, SuHo hurriedly got off, almost stumbling down the small steps at the entrance, making Thea laugh amusingly, as she took in everything that had happened, everything that had happened in just seconds.

Although a strange feeling formed in her chest and she suddenly closed her eyes, tilting her head to the side as she perceived an evil spirit stepping on their territory. She opened her eyes wide, letting out a terrified gasp.

"It can't be..." Thea gasped, her breathing seeming to labor even as she did nothing. A new feeling seemed to pulse in her chest and she unconsciously turned around, in the distance making out the famous colorful lights of the territory "Mun..." Something had definitely happened

Author's note;

SuHo will finally stop bothering Thea! Or at least I hope so, because I really want to give him and SooJin the good ending, their happy ending 🥹Soon we'll see more scenes between SuHo and SooJin :)
