Season one, chapter forty-four

"And the only solution
was to stand and fight"

THEA LET OUT a long shaky breath when she saw Mo-tak clinging to someone's body in the middle of the road. And she couldn't help but cover her mouth in horror when she finally managed to make out Jeong-gu's figure in Mo-tak's arms, who was crying uncontrollably.

"Mun, summon our territory" Mo-tak asked in between cries with Jeong-gu's unconscious body on the ground "We need it now. Although we can't see him, I'm sure his partner from Yung is here. We need our territory. Without it, his partner... Jeong-gu!" Mo-tak screamed as Jeong-gu's soul left his body, watching as it rose into the air and disappeared into the blue sky

"Mr. Oh..." Mun murmured with a trembling voice "I'm sorry. It's my fault. It's... it's my..." Suddenly a bright blue light crashed into Mun's chest at a high speed and the territory appeared for a few seconds before disappearing  "Don't die. Not a single one of you" Mun exclaimed seriously as he stood up from the ground, a blue aura surrounding him and his eyes glowing a deep blue color

"Mun..." Mo-tak exclaimed in surprise

"I Don't want... anyone to die from this moment on" Mun said with determination, his eyes shining an intense blue

"Well, what the hell just happened?" Thea muttered, her brain taking a while to process what had happened

"Something like that happened?" Ms. Chu asked after Mun told her about what happened to him when he got into that taxi in the middle of the night

"This is where Shin Myeong-hwi wanted to meet" Mun pointed to the map he had drawn on the table "It's near my grandparents' church, so I know the area. The former residents recently moved out for the redevelopment. If we stay in the grounds, no one else will get hurt. And look..." Although he stopped talking when he noticed how everyone was looking at him

"Let's make sure we win today" Ms. Chu began to say, taking his hand with both of hers "Let's meet your parents today, Mun"

"Anyway, Mun's a big boy now" Mo-tak said making Jangmul laugh "In the past, he would've thrown a fit then left to fight him alone without telling us" He explained laughing

"Not just that. He would've been gone by now" Thea added with amusement, knowing him very well

"I've grown a bit, haven't I?" Mun asked shyly. Realizing that he had finally grown and matured

"Okay, then. Shall we get going?" Mo-tak questioned with a soft smile on his face

"Let's go" Jangmul nodded, copying the Counters' action

"Old man, you can stay here" Mo-tak suggested patting his shoulder gently

"What are you talking about?" Jangmul asked confused "I need to be there to protect Ms. Chu"

"We need... someone who can... welcome the new Counters" Mo-tak said softly, as if he were saying goodbye

"What is this guy talking about?" Jangmul pointed it out, probably thinking that Mo-tak was just joking

"Wait here. Once I get back... we can go for a drive or whatever" Ms. Chu suggested, this time without opposing to Mo-tak's words, because everyone knew (except Jangmul) that they probably would not return home today

"Gosh, Ms. Chu" Jangmul exclaimed seriously not believing that Ms. Chu had taken Mo-tak's side for the first time

"Why Don't we take a picture?" Ms. Chu suggested, the atmosphere turning sad in a matter of seconds

"A picture sounds good" Hana agreed with a small smile while Thea pursed her lips together to keep herself from crying right there

So everyone got into position in front of the camera and it made a 'click' taking the photo, probably the last photo group.

Thea and her teammates walked determinedly to the place where they would meet Shin Myeong-hwi and end everything once and for all. If she didn't return home this day at least she would rest in peace knowing that people would no longer be in danger for a long time, anyway if Hyun-ki survives he would probably look for her replacement so there's nothing to worry about.

She couldn't help but tremble once they were face to face with their enemy, who smiled ghoulishly as Mun summoned the territory. Without waiting any longer, Mun was the first to attack Shin, then one after another but Shin seemed to stop all their attacks with agility.

And so Ms. Chu was out in a matter of seconds, then Hana but she got back up ready to give more battle. Thea on the other hand was trying to do her best, but apparently Shin had gotten stronger and that made her afraid of losing hope.

Although thanks to Thea's sudden deconcentration, Shin managed to throw her into the air with his psychokinesis away from there in a quick movement, sending her crashing against one of the walls of the buildings. Which broke when Thea's back made contact with it. Thea grunted in pain, writhing on the ground, it would certainly be a miracle if she didn't end up an invalid.

Now only Mo-tak remained who grabbed Shin by the neck with the little strength he had left but Shin easily changed his position.

"Did you think you could handle me when you were this weak?" Shin asked with obvious amusement in his voice before throwing Mo-tak away

"Mo-tak!" Mun exclaimed in horror when the aforementioned moaned in pain

Mun got up from the ground and ran towards Myeong-hwi with fury written on his face, although Shin nimbly grabbed his leg and threw him on the ground before twisting his foot and breaking it easily.

"Did I get the right leg?" Shin mocked as Mun groaned in pain. That seemed to make Thea leave the pain behind and react as Shin slammed his fist into Mun's face repeatedly

"No!" Thea exclaimed in a broken voice, getting up from the ground in a quick movement, ignoring the pain in her body

Mo-tak managed to separate Shin from Mun and slammed his fist into Shin's face.

Shin nimbly dodged their useless attacks and grabbed both Mo-tak and Thea by the necks and lifted them into the air. Thea gasped for oxygen, this situation reminded her of that time when Baek Hyang-hui reminded her of her parents while strangling her to death.

Though the moment didn't last long when Thea fell to the ground thanks to Mo-tak hitting Shin's arms hardly, letting them both fall to the ground gasping for air. They both tried to put up a good fight but they couldn't fight anymore, Mo-tak was probably right when he said to the old man that he had to stay to welcome the new members.

Thea weakly held on to Shin's foot, who grabbed her by the hair and slammed his fist into her face, leaving her almost unconscious.

Thea seemed almost as surprised as everyone else to see the large rocks floating behind Mun, who was now standing without caring about his injured foot, the rocks then began to crash into Shin, one by one and that made a proud smile spread across Thea's face.

"Oh, my. He's definitely the ace of our team" Mo-tak commented with a proud smile

Mun then began the final fight with Shin, nimbly crashing and dodging his enemy's attacks, until finally with one last blow he sent Shin to the ground.

"Mun is really... marvelous" Ms. Chu commented happily

"He's.... amazing." If it weren't for the bad timing, Thea would say that it made her fall in love even more. Her eyes shone with admiration towards the boy she could happily and proudly call her boyfriend

"Fine. I suppose you're determined to meet your parents today" Shin exclaimed as Mun stood over him with one of his hands on his chest ready to summon him

"This son of a bitch. I summon the evil spirit in him!" Mun exclaimed with all his might, his hands beginning to glow white as Shin laughed

"All right. You do that. But just so you know, you won't be able to see those old farts you live with after this" Shin threatened with mockery

"What... what do you mean?" Mun asked, frowning in confusion "What happened to my grandparents!?"

"Who do you think is inside that car?" Shin asked, pointing at the black car in the middle of the road, as a truck quickly approached the car where Mun's grandparents remained "The choice is yours. Will you choose your dead parents over your grandparents who are alive?"

"No!" Mun said starting to cry desperately, not knowing what to do

"Mun. We've got this" Mo-tak assured him with a smile as Thea and Hana joined him "I'll stop the truck!"

Mo-tak stopped the truck before it crashed into the car they were trying to protect while Hana and Thea tried to push the black car out of the way, but it didn't even budge.

"He's playing another psychokinetic trick on this. It won't even budge!" Hana exclaimed, face red from the strength she was putting in to be able to move the car

Thea groaned, pushing the black car with all her strength, thus noticing the worried and terrified expressions of both adults inside the car. She couldn't give up, if she hadn't managed to save her family she at least had to save Mun's.

So with determination she put all her strength on her arms, thus managing to move the car a few centimeters backwards. Hana looked at her in pure surprise for a few seconds before doing the same as the brown haired girl.

Seconds later Jangmul joined both girls in trying to push the car but even that didn't seem to help much. Thea's face was red, so red that her head felt like it would explode any second. Though when she thought that all was lost the white truck stopped moving because the tire went flat and Thea and the others dropped to the ground with relief.

Was it finally over?

"Hey, are you both okay?" Hana asked into the earpiece in her ear

"Well done, guys" Ms. Chu said starting to cry "Mun, you did it" Hearing those last words Thea couldn't help but let out a few tears of happiness, they had finally finished everything, Mun had really done it

"Hana, Thea. We did it!" Jangmul said on the ground happily "We outdid that devil's psychokinetic powers. If it weren't for me, Hana and Thea, we'd be in deep trouble now"

"It's all over now" Thea sighed, breaking down into tears. They had really done it, after so much suffering they had ended everything

It was all over...

Guys, we're close to the end of the first season 😭 I'm sad about it but excited to start the second season 🍾🎊 anyway I'll be uploading the last chapters this week and hopefully I'll upload the first chapter of the second season next week 😉
