xliii. Careless mess

Season one, chapter forty-three

"Child of the storm"

THEA FELT SO bad and guilty for letting Ye-jun break the staff like it was just a simple piece of trash. Although now that she had managed to summon the evil spirit within her uncle she realized that perhaps it was not all in vain.

"I'm sorry. It's... our fault. The staffs..." Hana began to apologize, being another of the people who had also let the staff be destroyed

"I'm sorry..." Thea apologized, feeling extremely guilty but a little surprised to realize that she hadn't been the only one

"I know. You two did your best, given the situation" Wi-gen said softly, assuring the girls that there was nothing to worry about

"It's a shame that the staffs are broken, but even after the barrier disappeared, we put up a good fight against Shin" Mun began to say with a serious face. Still feeling worried about what happened with Thea's uncle "If we work as a team and stay as a team, we can catch him. We can do this"

"You're right. Hana had Baek Hyang-hui summoned and Thea had Park Ye-jun summoned so we only have Shin Myeong-hwi left" Ms. Chu exclaimed with relief but proud of both sisters

"That's right. All that's left is the biggest asshole. And Mun's getting better at using his abilities" Mo-tak pointed out with a smirk making Mun scratch his head in shyness "Summoning our territory is a piece of cake now. The rocks. You all saw him lift them up, right? This kid has no limits"

True, Thea had to admit that she was surprised when Mo-tak told her about the new psychotic abilities her boyfriend had developed. While that made her feel a little down on its own way because now she wouldn't be the only one with those abilities, she was still proud of Mun.

"Sounds as if his power is yours" Gi-ran exclaimed with a frown

"You always point these things out" Mo-tak protested

"But, still, be careful. It won't be easy to go up against pure evil" U-sik warned

"We have five days left. Before these souls held captive by the evil spirit perish, we must get this done" Wi-gen explained as Thea nodded in acknowledgement

"Yes, of course. We'll make Shin pay for his crimes, get Mo-tak's revenge, then summon the evil spirit to save Cheol-jung" Ms. Chu said with determination"And Mun should get to see his parents too" She smiled at the teenager

"Meeting's over. Good work" Mo-tak said patting Mun's back

"Let's go" Ms. Chu exclaimed turning around

"Follow me" Mo-tak said to his Yung partner who looked at him with confusion

"What?" Gi-ran questioned confused

"Come on"

"Why?"

"Thea" Hyun-ki called his partner at whom he had been staring at for a while

"Yeah?" Thea turned her head towards her Yung partner waiting for him to say what he had to say

"Are you okay? Am I the only one who knows that you almost died out there? That you actually died." Thea seemed surprised for a few seconds but managed to recover

"I'm fine, it wasn't that bad. I'm still here safe and sound anyway" Thea assured, forcing a smile on her face though Hyun-ki could see right through her "And I'm sorry if it's my fault you almost disappeared." Her expression changed to one of guilt "I was so careless that I let Ye-jun break the staff and because of me you were about to disappear..."

Thea couldn't help but gasp in surprise when her partner unexpectedly hugged her tightly. Something he had clearly never done during the entire time they have been partners.

"I'm glad you're okay, not because I almost disappeared but because for a few moments I thought I was going to lose you..." Thea knew that Hyun-ki was being honest with her so she didn't hesitate to reciprocate hug

"It's okay, I can't promise you that it won't happen again, you never know. But I can promise you that you will never lose me." She assured, feeling her eyes fill with tears

Thea was like Hyun-ki's little sister and Hyun-ki was like the older brother Thea lost long ago.

"Mun..." Thea called out to the teenager who seemed to be training on the boxing mat

"Thea..." The aforementioned stopped what he was doing to give all his attention to the most important person in his life

"Take a seat" Thea motioned him. She had so many things to tell him, and so many things to apologize for

"Oh. I'm fine, really" Mun tried to excuse himself, not wanting to further overwhelm Thea who proceeded to open the aid kit without listening to any of his useless excuses

She took the necessary things approaching the boy who was sitting on the boxing mat, watching her every move with a warm feeling in his chest.

"I saw my family yesterday. Park Ye-jun strangled me yesterday and I saw them... for a split second" Thea revealed remembering the moment she died for a few seconds "It might've been a dream or perhaps I died" She applied ointment on the wound on Mun's forehead with such gentleness who listened to her attentively "Normally... it's tough for me when I'm reminded of my family. I hate it. But... I guess I missed them" Thea seemed to be so attentive as she applied ointment to the corner of his lower lip "When I got to see them, it was great" Thea laughed softly making Mun's heart flutter as she gently took his hand in hers "I'll help you meet them. I'll make sure you get to say that thing... you have to tell your parents"

Thea smiled, honestly promising that she would. Even if they have to go over her to achieve it, she would happily do it, just to see Mun happy.

"You know, you used to tense up when people brushed up against you" Mo-tak began to say behind Thea, approaching both teenagers with a mischievous smile "What's going on?"

Yes, he'd been the only one who'd not found out about their relationship, which had been made public when he was in a meeting with Yung's people.

"This? Didn't you find out? If you didn't find out, it's not my fault" Thea began to say, getting up from the boxing mat, and then being pushed by Mo-tak who looked at her mischievously "Why are you pushing me?"

"Love prevails even when people are in the middle of war. Of course" Mo-tak pushed her one last time, the mischievous smile remaining on his face

"Stop trying to play Cupid because you have nothing of cupid. Man" Thea complained, turning to leave

"Why are you suddenly leaving?" Mo-tak asked with amusement

"To make breakfast! Happy?" Thea responded leaving the place in a hurry, leaving behind a teenager looking where she had gone with amusement at having been stopped from following her by Mo-tak

"Goodness. How can you call yourselves a family?" Jangmul asked helping Ms. Chu sit on her bed"You should check in with each other"

"Keep it down. Who called this old man here?" Ms. Chu complained who was not in a good condition

"Ms. Chu, you have to see a doctor. Why won't you listen to me?" Jangmul insisted with obvious concern

"I don't need to see a doctor. Can't you tell? I'm just suffering from fatigue. Stop making a fuss and get back to business"Ms. Chu exclaimed with a frown, refusing to see a doctor

"Are you sure you're okay, Ms. Chu?" Hana asked with concern not really convinced about the eldest words

"You heal us when we get sick, but when you're sick... there's nothing we can do for you" Mo-tak added with his head down, feeling useless for not knowing how to help, although his eyes went to Thea for a few milliseconds, signaling her to do something

"Ah" She exclaimed, catching the signal "Ms. Chu, I can heal you without any problem..."

"Of course not, look at your hair, you've started to gray, haven't you noticed?" Ms. Chu responded pointing to the teenager's hair which was clearly starting to gray  "Your beautiful hair will soon turn white if I continue to let you use your healing powers, so stop insisting." That's how the place went silent "I need to lie down"

"Okay, go ahead" Jangmul helped her lie down on her bed. The others remaining silent as if they had been scolded

This is how Jeong-gu came to the rescue of the older woman, though Thea was not very familiar with the aforementioned, because despite having seen him several times before, she never seemed to want to get closer to him, perhaps because at that time Thea was a little more reserved and it was difficult for her to make friends, either way she was very grateful that he was here now.

"The rumors were true" Jeong-gu said once Mun demonstrated that he could summon the territory "He can control the territory" He said impressed

"So you've heard the rumors about Mun?" Ms. Chu questioned weakly

"Okay. Relax. I'll get started" Jeong-gu ordered before closing his eyes to begin healing Ms. Chu

"Goodness, that feels much better" Ms. Chu said stretching her hands out

"Darn it. I might die" Jeong-gu complained, wiping the blood that came out of his nostrils

"Goodness, thank you"

"So, Mr. Oh" Mun began to say with intrigue

"Yes? What?" The aforementioned turned to see him with curiosity

"Why is your hair still black?" Mun pointed at Jeong-gu's head noticing that his hair was different from Ms. Chu and Thea's

"What? Mae-ok, Thea, you two should dye your hair. What is that?" Jeong-gu exclaimed pointing at Ms. Chu's completely white hair and the white strands that remained in Thea's brown hair, who in embarrassment, placed the hood of her jacket on her head

New insecurity unlocked; Was it that noticeable from afar? Would that make her less attractive? She should have listened to Ms. Chu when she told her not to use her healing powers, why did she have to be so stubborn?

"That doesn't make you less attractive, you still look as beautiful and gorgeous as ever" Mun whispered from her side, as if he had read her thoughts, but in reality, he already knew her very well. Thea gave him a light playful punch on the shoulder, feeling the blood rise to her cheeks. "I was just saying." He defended himself, raising his hands in the air in defeat

"I can't believe you came this far to do me this favor" Ms. Chu exclaimed, laughing at the behavior of both teenagers but moved by Jeong-gu

"Of course. I should be here if you aren't well. Forget that chartered plane. I would've swum here" Which made the oldest laugh"Anyway, will you make me some noodles?"

"Yes, of course, I will. A double serving at that" Ms. Chu exclaimed happily

"No, don't do that. I'll get fat" Jeong-gu joked once again making Ms. Chu laugh "Make enough for one"

"Three exits. The garage, the front and the back gates" Mun explained pointing to the drawing on the table

"We will make sure we catch him before it's too late" Mo-tak nodded determinedly

"I'm ready" Hana exclaimed with a serious but confident face

"Then let's get going" Ms. Chu announced entering the restaurant through the back door

"How's Hyeok-u doing, Ms. Chu?" Mun questioned getting up from his chair. It's true, he had taken Hyeok-u to the restaurant after finding him outside his house in the morning

"He seems quite startled. He'll calm down in time" Ms. Chu explained with a frown, certainly a little uncomfortable having him in the restaurant after what he did to Mun and his friends

"Are you feeling... I mean, how's your condition?" Mun asked instead, correcting himself upon seeing the older woman's expression

"What do you take me for? Let's head over. Let's get back before dinner" Ms. Chu ordered, changing the subject

"Okay"

"Jeong-gu" Ms. Chu said with surprise when she saw the aforementioned enter the restaurant

"Jeong-gu"

"What about your flight?"

"You can stay and make dinner. I'll go" Jeong-gu said in the direction of Ms. Chu

"What are you talking about?" Mo-tak asked with a frown, not understanding what he was planning

"She just got better, so I'll go in Mae-ok's place. Don't you get it, Mo-tak?" Jeong-gu explained, tilting his head to the side

"Come here" Ms. Chu dragged him away as the team watched as they whispered to each other

"I'll stay with Ms. Chu, I feel uneasy leaving her alone with Hyeok-u" Thea announced to the team with her gaze glued to the older woman

"But we'll definitely need your psychotic abilities" Mo-tak began to say trying to reason with her

"I'm sure Mun can replace me," Thea assured, sending a smile to her boyfriend who was frowning with no intention of leaving her alone with the orange-haired boy

Ms. Chu paced back and forth waiting for Hyeok-u to wake up from his nap. Thea on the other hand was sitting in front of the bully, staring at him as if trying to decipher something about him. It seemed too strange that he ran to Mun's house when it was obvious from afar how much he hated him.

She still held a certain grudge against him for making her boyfriend and friends suffer in that horrible way. Of course, just because she let him stay in the restaurant didn't mean she forgave him.

"Ms. Chu, don't you think it's a little strange that Mun found him outside his house asleep on the steps? I mean, the two of them have never gotten along," Thea began to say, cocking her head to the side suspiciously

"It's suspicious, but maybe the poor guy had nowhere else to go" Ms. Chu responded making Thea click her tongue in acknowledgement, maybe she should stop being suspicious of everyone and focus on what was important

"You're up. How are you feeling?" Thea asked, trying her best not to break his face. Mun had told her to be nice to him due to everything that was happening with his father

"I'm fine" Hyeok-u responded adjusting his eyes to the light, looking around in confusion

"So you're Mun's friend, right? You must be hungry. I'll make you some noodles" Ms. Chu said with some discomfort

"Thank you"

"That happens once in a blue moon" Ms. Chu murmured as she headed towards the exit. Thea stood up from her spot, sending the orange haired boy a dirty look before following Ms. Chu

...

"I'm not sure if you'll like it" Ms. Chu placed a bowl of noodles in front of the teenager "Most people say it's good"

"Where is everyone?" Hyeok-u asked leaning forward

"Oh, they had something to take care of" Ms. Chu responded hurriedly searching for her earpiece that she had left on the table

"Did they head over to kill my dad?" Hyeok-u asked crestfallen

"Hyeok-u..." Thea said feeling bad for the teenager

"He deserves to die. A guy like him should die" He began to cry and Thea approached him with the intention of comforting him but stopped short when his crying turned into macabre laughter "But there's no use in killing him now"

"What?" Suddenly Hyeok-u stood up from the couch with his eyes completely black

"Weren't you all looking for me?" Hyeok-u asked in two voices laughing as he showed Ms. Chu's shattered earpiece in the palm of his hand

"You...." Ms. Chu said in horror taking Thea's wrist who had the same expression as her before trying to run towards the exit but Hyeok-u used his psychokinesis to cover the exit with some furniture

"Ms. Chu, get behind me" Thea told the eldest, standing in front of her protectively

"Thea..." But the teenager had already approached the evil spirit to start a fight

The fight lasted a little longer than Thea thought, both being very agile with their movements. Although when she remembered that she was against an extremely powerful spirit by her own, her insecurities filled her and she lost concentration. When Thea threw her fist at him, he easily dodged it, grabbing her hair tightly and slammed his fist repeatedly into her stomach and face, making her stagger backwards until she finally fell down.

Hyeok-u grabbed her hair again and was ready to smash his fist into her face, but Mun arrived just in time to stop him.

"You..." Mun said, feeling his blood boil when he saw the girl in Hyeok-u's clutches, so without hesitation he took two weights near him and then threw them at the evil spirit that then fell on the ground

"Thea" Hana exclaimed with concern, running towards the teenager who was coughing up blood on the ground

"You cowardly evil spirit. I'll kill you!" Mun exclaimed angrily starting to fight "Come out. Come out of Hyeok-u's body, you damned evil spirit!" With one last blow he knocked him to the ground, Mun knelt down and put Hyeok-u's hand on his chest to summon him but he began to laugh with amusement before the evil spirit left his body as a black and cold smoke leaving everyone surprised

"Thea, are you okay?" Mun asked with concern, rushing to the teenage girl who was sitting on the ground with a bloody nose

"Yes, I lost focus a little and lost control" Thea nodded her head, wiping the blood that came out of her nostrils

"Thank God you're okay" Mun exclaimed, clinging to his girlfriend's body in a quick movement, showing how much he cared about her "Mo-tak, he escaped again" Mun announced through the earpiece that he had in his ear, not leaving Thea's body at any time

"How's Ms. Chu and Thea?" Mo-tak asked with concern on the other side

"Thankfully, they're both fine" Mun responded, calming him down a little, looking at Thea, processing everything that had happened
