Chapter Two

Ivytail's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked down the hill along with my littermates, Stripetail and Blackstorm. Stripetail suddenly jumped.
"I smell something," he murmured through his quivering whiskers.
I sniffed around cautiously, along with the two.
What does he mean? I asked myself.
I picked up the scent of Blackstorm and Stripetail, tree sap, deer, and herbs. I changed directions. I scented another cat. It wasn't familiar and had a rather mangy taste to it.
"Loner!"
We stalked through the tall grass and kept our focus on the strange black outsider. The cat didn't seem to notice us at all. I crawled farther on my stomach. Then farther. Soon we were about one tail length behind the loner. I sprung up in the air suddenly aiming for the tom. He quickly dodged.
"What are you doing here?" It asked.
I opened my mouth to explain but no words came out. Instead, this happened.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Pantera. Yours?"
"Ivytail."
The name seemed rather familiar. But I didn't mind.
"But that's not all, this is León and Tigre."
I turned around to see him. A lion and a tiger stood there. These cats had such odd names. And somehow they're familiar. But this cat wasn't any loner. I turned back around and waved my tail. Pantera didn't seem to want me to leave, but why did I care?
"And then we have something to tell you about Flama, if you know him..."
I didn't bother turning my head. All I did was shake my head. All I wanted to do is get out of here and go see how Grayclaw is going. I nearly forgot that Stripetail and Blackstorm were following me. I only sighed. The prey scarce and the cold weather, with these rogues roaming around, I have to tell Firestar.
Firestar became leader after Graystar died. Soon after, Tigerleaf left and all we had left was Goldenflame, a burning Cheetah. Later Tigerleaf came back along with her son, Grayclaw. Nobody knows who is father is or anything. I guess it will remain a mystery.
Anyways, we have to continue. I've been standing solid for maybe, I don't know, a moon. So I marched along the cold earth along with my littermates. My heavy paw thumped with every step. I suddenly heard something lurking. I prepared my self for attack.
But there was only a gazelle. I lowered to a crouch along with the cats.
"Look guys, here's the plan. Blackstorm, you go towards left, and prepare yourself for a race."
Blackstorm grinned. Stripetail puffed his chest out and waited for his instructions.
"Stripetail, go ahead to the right side. And once again, prepare yourself. Go ahead guys,"I meow.
I crawled about one rabbit length toward the gazelle. Its ear flicked, and I only pressed against the floor harder. Its head perked up and looked around. I tried to hide my gaps. It did, unexpectedly. Then it continued its grazing. I wiggled closer, waiting for the perfect time. Then I aimed. The leg was usually best. It's easier that way. So I aimed low. Then I half leaped, half ran, across the forest to catch the gazelle. I was going so fast, I barely felt my paws go down on the ground. Then I jumped upon him and slid down onto his thigh and bit him. The gazelle fell down hardly.
"Hey! Nice catch," a voice called.
I dragged the fresh prey with my jaws.
"Thank you, it was pretty hard, I have to admit," I mumbled through the hair.
Stripetail nodded a bit. Blackstorm looked down at me. He seemed so huge, just by staring at me. I dropped the food and lowered my head to eat. They both followed willingly. The gazelle had a sharp taste, yet good. Usually we would count on cheetahs to do this for us, since they were such fast creatures.
Soon we were full. I had blood on my muzzle. It trickled down to the grass. It stained the green grass.
"Hey, Stripetail, why don't you go mark this as an expanded part of our territory? And Blackstorm, can you go make sure no other animals live here other than Pantera, Tigre, or León. If you do, bring them to Firestar."
They both nodded. I actually felt bad for them, since they had to deal with a lot today. But I needed to get my rest as well. i slowly padded towards the area that the camp was. I suddenly heard passengers behind me. Turning around, I noticed Pantera. His green eyes flashed.
"The others aren't here, don't worry. But I must ask to come with you... at your clan," he struggled to say.
I waved my tail to motion him to follow me.
"Come on then. Plus, who's Flama? Did you always live here? I never saw you before," I asked.
He shook his head. I looked over my shoulder and turned over to begin walking again. With all these interruptions, I might never make it.
By the time I got there, Grayclaw was okay.
"I was just a bit pierced, it may open up again," he went on. "She just stitched it up and told me to relax. How's by you?"
"Fine, but I have someone to show you. His name is Pantera. I found him with Blackstorm and Stripetail when we went out hunting. He said he needs to talk to us," I meowed.
"Why did you bring him directly to me then? Show him to Firestar. It's called being truthful." (Wow)
I guided Pantera to the Major Rock, which is where Firestar slept. I looked up to see a fiery bundle of fur with black spots. His pelt glistened with the sunlight as it spotted his pelt. Was this really the cat we were about to talk to?
"F-Firestar," I stammered nervously.
He only looked back at us and nodded as he saw the 'new ones.' And before I knew it, he leaped out of sight.
