Always Been
So...I finally watched Jujutsu Kaisen. And I have found something from it that I am slowly falling in love with. This is the fact that Gojo essentially trained/raised Megumi since he was young. I am a sucker for any father son relationships and bonds. The fact that this is an element that isn't entirely canon makes it even better. I just love non-canon ideas and being able to make something entirely unique from them. For this fic, I am going to play with the bond that Gojo and Megumi have as well as how their connection can sort of change the story of JJK as a whole. It's going to be a wild ride. Let's go!
"Well, that was easy!" Yuji chirps as the cursed spirit the three first years were assigned to handle fizzles into nothingness. He walks back towards where their car is parked with a wide smile on his face. Nobara is by his side with her arms crossed over her chest. She is a bit bummed by the lack of a fight that the cursed spirit put up, but shrugs it off quickly. Megumi, on the other hand, can't help but find this entire situation a tad bit too easy. He keeps these thoughts to himself though as he trails behind his classmates.
He regrets this action less than a minute later as a chain speckled with red comes flying in their direction. "Get down!" Megumi shouts as he shoves Yuji and Nobara to the ground. They yelp as they slam into the slightly damp grass. Their heads whipping to stare at Megumi as the chain wraps around his chest. His mouth curls into a scowl as he is yanked back. His neck snapping and causing him whiplash. "Shit!" Yuji exclaims "Fushiguro!"
Megumi winces as he is pulled away from his classmates at a rapid speed. The links of the metal chain biting into his body. He flies past the forest of trees that appear as mere green blurs to his eyes.
Before Megumi can do anything to free himself, he is slammed right into a large tree trunk. "Ugh!" Megumi groans as fire erupts along his spine. His face pinches up in pain. "Oooo, I caught a big one!" A grating voice sings. Megumi eyes flick upward to see a wiry man lounging out on a tree branch. He holds the other end of the chain which is partially draped over his legs. "Hello," The man waves as he pushes the chains to the ground. He easily slides off the branch and drops beside them. He picks the end up and drags the chains closer to Megumi, forming a somewhat neat pile. He lowers into a squat and props himself on top of them. Megumi huffs and fixates the man with a glare as he strains against the chains. "Wow, you're nothing like your old man, are ya?" The man questions with quirked up lips.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Megumi growls.
"I heard from a little birdie that Gojo Satoru is your father..." The man sings. Megumi freezes. His entire body falling slack. His eyes unknowingly darting back and forth anxiously. "I guess that means it's true then!" The man cackles. He shoots to his feet, grabbing the chains as he stands. Megumi grits his teeth as the curse user in turn ends up tightening the bonds around him. He starts to open his mouth to say something, but is cut off by a familiar voice. "Fushiguro!!!" Yuji bellows.
Megumi opens his mouth to reply to him, but is beaten to it by the man. To make the situation even worse, the curse user doesn't speak in his grating tone, but rather Megumi's own voice.
"Stay back! This guy...we won't be able to handle him on our own..." Megumi's voice bellows, "Go! Get my dad!!!"
Megumi stares at the man in complete disbelief. The man is quick to pick up on the attention he is getting. His eyes flicking to meet Megumi's gaze and a wide smile blooming on his face. "Like my trick?" He asks, "It's a part of my cursed energy..." Megumi scowls and starts to open his mouth to stop his classmates, but it is too late as Yuji's voice reverberates through the forest. "Hang in there! We'll get help! You can count on us, Fushiguro!" Yuji bellows.
Megumi's head drops and he grits his teeth together, "Idiots..."
"Now...now...don't be too harsh on your friends," The man tuts. Megumi scoffs at those words. His head lifts and he settles a wide eyed gaze at the curse user. "I was also referring to you," Megumi says simply.
"Excuse me..." The man's lips quiver with anger.
"You actually believe that you stand a chance against Gojo Satoru," Megumi hisses, "You don't even stand a chance against me!" With those words, his cursed energy starts to build around him.

"Kiyotaka-san!!!" Yuji shouts as he and Nobara burst out of the forest. Their glasses wearing driver looks up, his expression slowly contorting with surprise. "Is something wrong?" Ijichi lips curling into a frown when he notices that one of the young students is missing, "Where is Fushiguro?"
"He was taken!" Nobara breathes heavily.
"He said to get help specifically from his dad!" Do you know who his father is?!" Yuji questions in a desperate tone.
Nobara huffs, "We don't know cause that asshole never tells us anything about himself!" Ijichi doesn't respond, pressing his lips into a firm line. He slowly nods as he turns away from the two and puts some distance between them. "Ijichi-san!?" Yuji calls out, "Did you hear us? Fushiguro is in danger!" The glasses-wearing man, once again, doesn't speak. He merely reaches into his pocket and takes out his phone. He taps calmly at the screen before bringing the device to his ear. Yuji and Nobara share a quick look with another before fixating glares at the man. They stomp over and flail their arms around to get his attention. "Hello!?" Nobara hisses, "Now is not the time to be talking on your phone!" Ijichi lets out a breath. His other hand reaches up to grasp at his glasses and adjust it slightly before staring at the two students, who fall still at the man's gaze. "You said he asked for his father...yes?" Ichiji questions, "That's who I'm calling." He pulls his phone away from his ear and places the call on speaker. Yuji and Nobara once more share a look with one another before falling completely silent, intrigued at who Megumi's father is. Thankfully, whoever the man is, quickly answers Ijichi's call. "Hello?" A familiar voice filters over the line.
"Gojo?!" Nobara's eyes bug out of his head.
"Why did you call him!?" Yuji shouts.
"Well, hello my lovely students," Gojo sings. Ijichi sighs and shakes his head. He brings his phone closer to his face so that he can speak uninterrupted. "Gojo, listen, you need to come here," Ijichi states, "Megumi needs you."
"What happened?" Gojo questions, his tone immediately turning dark. Ijichi glances over at the two students. Nobara clears her throat, still a bit thrown off by all of this, but does her best to act professional. "We finished dealing with the cursed spirit but then this giant chain came and snatched Fushiguro up like a fish!" Nobara explains to their teacher, "We tried to find him but he just told us to get his dad..."
"He said dad..." Gojo muses.
"Yeah! Do you know who his dad is?!" Yuji cries suddenly. The area falls silent for a moment. Ijichi and Nobara turn to stare at the pink haired sorcerer in disbelief. Yuji looks back at them and blinks once and then again, totally oblivious and confused. "Are you kidding me, Itadori!?" Nobara snaps.
"What?!" Yuji shrugs.
"Ijichi said he was calling Fushiguro's father...if he called Gojo...that means..." Nobara reasons with wide eyes.
"Huh?" Yuji questions, still confused, he falls silent for a moment as he thinks things through before it all finally clicks into place in his head, "Oh....oh! Oh!!!!" Ijichi once again lets out a sigh as Nobara presses her fingers to her temples and massages them. "Wait!" Yuji exclaims, "How can Gojo be Fushiguro's dad?!"
"That...I have no idea either," Nobara states. The students once again turn to look at Ijichi whose face is weighed down with exhaustion. "Gojo..." Ijichi mutters, hoping to let the sorcerer handle this one.
"As much as I would love to regale you all with the tale, I need to go help my kid," Gojo says, "If he asked for me specifically...that means that he's in real danger."
"Be safe, Gojo," Ijichi states.
"No need to worry about me," Gojo replies in a tone that is somewhat bright but laced with anger, "You should be more concerned about what I'll do to the guy who took Gumi."
———————
"Come on...come on..." Gojo mutters to himself as he scans the forest where he was told Megumi was taken. He never has problems like this when looking for someone. He knows deep down it has nothing to do with his eyes or abilities. It's his anxieties and worries that are tripping him up. Most of the time, Gojo doesn't let his emotions affect him, but this is different. This has to do with Megumi. "Where are you, kid?" Gojo questions as he looks past the large foliage. It's then that he sees pitch black hair jutting out in various directions like a sea urchin. That's Megumi. There's no doubt about it. Gojo takes off in that direction without even another thought.
As Gojo arrives in an open clearing in the woods, the blades of grass whip at the sudden burst of air and leaves are ripped off of the surrounding trees. Gojo's gaze locks on Megumi, his lips pressing into a firm line as he takes in the injured teen. His clothes are covered in dirt and scuff marks. Scratches litter his palms and a line of dried blood traces down from the top of his head to the top of his jawline. "Megumi," Gojo states.
The black haired teen meets his gaze and a tight-lipped smile appears on his face, "Dad..." At that word, Gojo rushes forward. Megumi's arms stretch outward and he takes a couple of steps forward to meet the jujutsu sorcerer. Before they can embrace though, Gojo's hand curls into a tight fist. The blindfold wearing man cocks his arm back and swings it forward. His fist connects quickly with Megumi's gut and sends him flying back. "Ack!" Megumi yelps as he collides with a thick tree trunk. His face contorts in pain as he tries to push himself up. His eyes flicking to look up at Gojo, whose own expression is blank and unreadable. "What are you..." Megumi breathes, "What are you doing?"
"I could ask you the same thing," Gojo calmly states before questioning in a seething tone, "Why the hell are you wearing my kid's face?" It falls quiet for a moment, sans the quiet chirping of a nearby cricket nestled in the bushes. Megumi's head lowers slightly as he pushes himself to his feet. A soft chuckle then breaks the silence. It builds in volume before echoing loudly as Megumi whips his head up and grins at Gojo. The white haired man looks less than amused as his lips curl into a firm scowl that usually is worn by the person standing across from him. "Damn, I thought I would have been able to trick you," Fake Megumi huffs.
"Do you really think I could fall for such a phony copy?" Gojo asks, tilting his head to the side.
A burst of laughter escapes from Fake Megumi's mouth again, "Hahaha! I guess not! You are as impressive as they say, Gojo Satoru!"
"Thanks," Gojo says in a dry tone, "Now...are you going to tell me where Megumi is?"
"Why would I do that?" Fake Megumi questions.
"Cause you don't want to be beaten within an inch of your life," Gojo glares.
"Wow...scary..." Fake Megumi shivers, "I knew that going after your kid was a good idea. Nothing riles up a parent more than when their child is in danger..."
"If you wanted a fight, you just had to ask!" Gojo exclaims, "I'd be more than willing to oblige..."
"Oh really?" Fake Megumi grins, "Will you fight me now then?"
"Sure," Gojo says simply before rushing at the curse user, "Just one thing...take off that disguise of yours and show me your true ugly self!"
"Ha...nope...I kinda like the way your kid looks," Fake Megumi states as he charges to meet his opponent, "Plus, it gives me an edge in this fight!"
———————
Megumi breathes heavily as the chains that once held him clatter to the ground. He presses his lips into a firm line as he pushes himself to his feet. A strangled sound escapes his lips as exhaustion weighs heavy on his limbs. He starts to crumple back to the ground but before he can, he slumps against a steady body. Megumi stiffens for a moment before relaxing slightly as he recognizes a familiar cursed energy, "Gojo Sensei."
"Megumi," Gojo states as he grips the teen's shoulders and turns him around, "Let me look at you." He scans Megumi up and down, his lips turning into a frown as he takes notice of every scratch, bruise, and faint mark on his kid's body. "It looks worse than it is," Megumi states, pushing Gojo's arms so that his adoptive father would let him go. Gojo refuses to remove his hands though, knowing that Megumi would fall if he did. "I doubt that," Gojo shakes his head.
"This isn't even from the cursed spirit," Megumi huffs, "It's the item he used. Those chains repel cursed energy. Anytime I tried to use it...it just ended up backfiring and causing more injuries..."
"Then, how did you..." Gojo starts before his mouth slowly forms an o shape in shock, "Megumi..." His grip on the teen tightens. "I couldn't just stay chained up and helpless!" Megumi exclaims as he weakly struggles against Gojo's hold.
"I would have found you," Gojo states.
"I know," Megumi mutters, "But, if you were in my shoes, you would do the same thing." Gojo falls silent, he can't deny that. Only he would be so reckless with his own well-being like this. It seems that it's a trait that he passed on to Megumi. Gojo shakes his head as he begins to use his cursed energy to heal Megumi's drained body. Surprisingly, the black haired teen doesn't protest and allows his adoptive father to help him. The effects are rather instantaneous. Megumi, while still weak, is now able to stand. Some of the small surface wounds he had acquired have already faded away. Gojo scans Megumi over once again before nodding at his handiwork. "How do you feel?" The blindfolded man questions.
"Better," Megumi states.
"Good," Gojo smiles, "Let's get you back home. You've had a long night." He grips onto his son's arm and throws it over his shoulder. Megumi huffs at the action and tries to pull away, but Gojo pulls him close and forces him to be helped. "You just healed me. I'm fine," Megumi frowns, "You don't need to hold me."
"I want to," Gojo states, tightening his grip.
"Gojo Sensei..." Megumi starts.
"I almost had a heart attack when they told me that you were in danger," Gojo says in a grim tone. Megumi's lips curl into a frown. His eyes lock on his adoptive father's face. He doesn't say anything, but leans some of his weight against Gojo as a signal that he is allowing him to help. "For the record, it wasn't me who called out for you," Megumi mutters as they begin to walk, "But...I'm still grateful that you came. So...thank you..."
"I will always be there for you, Gumi..." Gojo hums.
"I know," Megumi says, "You've always been...Dad..."
And that's where we are going to end. I had lots of fun writing this. I want to definitely revisit these two in the future and maybe even do a full length story. We'll see cause I am pretty busy as of late. I just feel like there's so much to try out storywise and I haven't seen a lot of multi-chaptered fics centered around Gojo and Megumi. I don't have any ideas as of yet either but we shall see. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this fic. If you did, please vote, comment, follow me, add this story to your library, and make sure to check out the other one-shots in this book. Until next time!
