Prologue
Once upon a time, David had never believed in finding the one all those years ago. Still, he felt like the luckiest man on Earth when a red-headed young woman walked into Phil's flat for a screen test with himself and Cathrine for the Runaway Bride, then came back later that same fateful day with Freema. Something within him had unexpectedly switched on when she entered that living room. David knew she was the one.
It was as if he had forgotten to breathe or lost the will to speak because maybe his jaw was slightly ajar or his brain was cut out for a moment. Perhaps it had been her warm yet pleasing smile, cheery greeting, or that unknowing look in those mesmerising hazel-green eyes.
Perhaps it had been because things had been so natural and swimmingly like ducks to water in that very first moment of meeting. Maybe it was a combination of everything. But whatever it had been right then and there in a flat in Cardiff, David knew that Stacey Thomas was his one and just prayed that she would be his.
Stacey had never believed that there was that one particular person for everyone, a soulmate as it were. Still, when she clamped her eyes on one David Tennant while walking into that flat many years ago, she felt as if fate was on her side like a light had switched on inside her head. Something had told her he was the one.
Maybe it had been the way he had an awkwardly cute way he had tumbled over his words as they had greeted one another when she had smiled and looked one another briefly in the eyes. Perhaps it was they had gotten on from the word go. Yet it was right there, and then Stacey knew David would be her one and hoped he would be hers.
