This is an excerpt from the OG fanfic that started it all.

Ash is with Griffin. I believe there is a few months of peace between seasons. This happens before the events with the time twins.

Background: The elemental masters are at Chen's for a reunion. Morro snuck onto the bounty and protected his sister from a childhood bully.

November 6, 2016 6:00 am

Ash was woken up by the sound of someone knocking things down in the kitchen. She walked with caution and peeked around the door frame only to see Cole rooting through the fridge for an early morning snack. She laughed which caused the earth ninja to turn around and ready a fighting stance until he saw who it was. "Ash, you scared me. I was ready to fight you." Cole said. Ash only smiled and sat down in a chair that her brother got for her.

"Why are you up this early?" Cole asked. "I heard some noise and found you in here eating as usual." Ash replied with a laugh.

"You know we're making pancakes in a few hours, so don't eat too much. Are you sure you're not the one who's pregnant?" Ash started poking Cole's stomach when the two of them heard some noises coming from the foyer.

What they saw stunned them. In the foyer, Morro, who appeared to be alive, was fighting with Damion, Ash's childhood bully. They continued when the former ghost noticed them and shouted. "GET ASH OUT OF HERE! HE HAD A GUN!" Damion shot at Cole and Ash, but hit Morro in the leg. A few minutes passed and Cole took care of Damion while Ash tended to her brother. But unknown to the three, the shot was heard throughout the entire place, waking everyone else up.

As Cole sat Morro on a chair, the former ghost was squeezing his leg. "The bullet only grazed your leg." Ash went to grab a towel when she saw the others staring back and forth between her and Morro with Lloyd being the only one in a fighting stance.

"Really? Morro is on No shape to fight you. He was shot in the leg." Ash said while wrapping Morro's leg. Lloyd relaxed.

"How are you mortal? You were a ghost the last time we saw you." Morro explained how a rift also opened up in the Departed Realm and the ninja's former enemies trying to go through. He, along with his and Ash's mom helped Garmadon fend them off and told Morro to jump through. Ash, by then was sitting in a chair with her head on the table, half asleep. Ronin eventually came and took Damion away.

"Well, since all of us are up, we might as well get ready for the day. Except for Ash and Griffin, they need to sleep some more." Lloyd said as Ash was drooling on the table and Griffin nodding off. "Morro can hang with us." Morro almost agreed until he realized that he'll be separated from his sister. He started following them to their room.

"I'll go with him." Cole whispered. Once the four got to the room, Cole opened the door for the couple and Morro tried to enter as well. Cole grabbed him by the back of his shirt and held him still til the door closed.

"I know you're worried, but Ash will be fine and you can stay close to me." Cole said and Morro nodded. "Besides, I picked up where you left off." The former ghost smiled as the two walked back to the main living area.

When the two arrived, they saw everyone huddled in a circle. "What's the secret?" Cole asked. Lloyd turned around and smiled.

"All of us have been thinking, since Ash and Griffin's reception was ruined by a fire and they never got their dance, we want to recreate it. But it's going to take all of us to get it done." Lloyd finished his sentence and Morro wanted to help. They got started right away with the baking and getting everything set up.

An hour later, Lloyd and Morro were tasked to check and see if Ash and Griffin were still sleeping. As they were talking, Morro was apologizing profusely for his actions and the Green Ninja saying that everything is fine between them. Lloyd quietly opened the door and found his cousin and her husband still sleeping with their arms wrapped around each other. Morro couldn't help but smile.

"They're hugging each other like giant teddy bears. I still feel bad for attacking Griffin and kidnapping Ash at the time. I was just trying to protect her, you know? It was a promise I made that no harm will fall on Ash whether it was from me or someone else." Before Morro could say more, Lloyd shushed him. They turned and saw Ash smack Griffin in her sleep and turn on her other side. The two masters shut the door and walked away.

It was around 10 in the morning when everything was set up. The living room was cleared, food on the table with a cake at the end. Lloyd had to prevent Cole from sneaking a slice by putting Zane next to it. He sent Morro to check to see if Ash was up. Morro knocked on the door. He got an answer to come in. Morro saw the two dressed for the day and Griffin braiding Ash's hair.

"So you can braid. Sorry for doubting you. I honestly thought Nya did it." Morro laughed as he saw Ash holding a stuffed dragon. "I see you still sleep with a stuffed animal."

"I'm still a kid at heart. And this is Toothless from my favorite movie franchise. That, AND I am a dragon." Ash replied while laughing.

"You're such a goof just like when we were little. Anyways, there is a surprise for you guys." The three headed towards the main living area.

Ash and Griffin were surprised to see that the others threw them another reception because of what happened. Everyone spent the day having fun. The couple got their dance and ate the cake. Ash went on to give Cole the first slice like she planned on doing the first time. Everyone went on to do their own things around the island. Ash announced her pregnancy and the others congratulated her and Griffin.

As for the cake thing, Ash gave Cole the first slice because the two have a strong sibling bond. And Cole loves cake as Ash doesn't eat it much.
