Time Wasted on the Stupid Fucking Handbook

"THATS IT! I GIVE UP!" You screamed, throwing your e-handbook aside. "WHY CAN'T I GET INTO THIS THING?!"

You had been working on attempting to at least hack into your handbook so you could at least transfer ONE of your games on so you didn't have to take anything else with you, but it was impossible. You couldn't even change the settings around to how you would like it.

"THIS IS BULLSHIT! ITS 2:00 AM! I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SINCE 1O:30!"

You sighed hard and calmed yourself down a bit.

                     "Sleep it is then."

You flopped into bed and cleared your mind of the dumb handbook. You didn't want to think about it anymore. There was more important things to think about, like what you were going to do if someone got killed, or how you were going to end up interacting with the students efficiently.

"Fucking handbook. Stupid rules. Why can't I stop thinking about that stupid god damn handbook?!"

A techie's curiosity to take a new piece of technology and dissect it, mixed with the determination of an artist. Not the best combo for right now. You groaned and flipped yourself over getting comfy in the nice warm blankets of your bed and pulling a pillow close to your body just as you would have done at home. Taking a nice deep breath then exhaling through mouth, you dug your face into the pillow you were hugging and thought to yourself about what was going on back at home.

"I hope my friends and family are alright..." You said to yourself.

Shuffling around a bit in your bed, you found yourself thinking about the boy you met in that old building. Confusion overtook you as your head filled with thoughts of his smiling face, but they were soon replaced with the memory of him going on and on about hope and despair. Something was...wrong...about that...He didn't seem right and you still didn't understand why the others chained him up only for his belief about hope. Having hope was a good thing in your opinion. Whether or not you necessarily had hope however was a different story unfortunately, but it still made you wonder what brought everyone to doing such a thing.

Eventually, you fell into the darkness of sleep. Thank God night was passing.

--Next Morning--

*BRAMP* *BRAMP* *BRAMP* *BRAMP* *BRAPM* *BRAMP* *BRAMP* *BRAMP*!!!!!!

"OH SHIT!" You screamed as you jumped in bed and quickly tangled your legs in the sheets, finding yourself flipped over the side of the bed eventually just slowly sliding down along with your blankets and hitting your head on the wooden floor of your cottage. "Eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Morning already?"

You groaned as you picked yourself up off of the ground, turned off your alarm, and did a Monty Python-style silly-walk all the way to your bathroom so you can use the toilet, shower, brush your hair and teeth, and get dressed. It was 5:30am, and you were not having anyone or anything's shit. The dark bags around your eyes clearly showed you did not have a good sleep and how you ended up staying awake till very late.

"Fucking curiosity bullshit goddamn e-handbook ass fucking crap stupid nerd side fucking social anxiety ass nervous ass bitch..."

You continued on with your ridiculous angry-and-tired run-on sentence-rant until you jumped into the shower and freaked yourself out once the freezing cold water hit your bare skin. You didn't have time to drag on about it though, so you just left the water cold letting it wake you up and distract you from your problems. Once finished cleaning yourself up, you got out, dried yourself off, got dressed, then began to brush your hair and teeth while contemplating life like you did every morning and seriously asking yourself why you chose to wake up to early. You knew you were never a morning person, yet you do this because why? It didn't matter though once you were up.

"Hey, at least I'm up early so I can greet everyone and actually have breakfast with the others for the first time." You thought to yourself.

By the time you were all done getting yourself ready and you finished packing your backpack prepared to start the day, it was already just about time to head over to the restaurant.

"Oh! Perfect timing." You said happily. "Thank god for that at least."

On your way over to breakfast, you met up with Chiaki and Hajime. Chiaki shared similar interests with you when it came to gaming and the style of clothing you wore (which really wasn't much of a style at all), and Hajime was...well...just Hajime. He was cool but there isn't much to say that's notable about him...well...except for the giant hair-erection protruding from his head. You laughed as you compared him to an anime or video game character, and Chiaki as well joined in on the joke. His ahoge was on point though, and it was all fun and games in the end. At breakfast, you were actually able to socialize with people. Sure it took some encouragement from Chiaki, and Mahiru did literally pull you by the arm and drag you into a conversation that all of the girls had been in, but in all actuality, you liked feeling included, and it was nice not being alone at breakfast to just talk to yourself or fantasize about various fictional characters you have crushes on. You also thought that it was pretty nice to see everyone's true colors be presented as well that morning, and you could feel yourself creating stronger and stronger bonds, you realizing that maybe you can make good friends with everyone and maybe, just maybe prevent murders from happening. The food was also surprisingly really good, however, it did have that resorty-like/tourist attraction flare to it. We were on a tropical island after all!

As you and your fellow classmates talked about various things, you had overheard Mahiru ask Hajime about Nagito and how she wanted him to bring him his food like the other day since she had some stuff to do.

"W-what? Again?" you heard as you unintentionally eavesdropped on their conversation. "Kouizumi-chan, hes insane. I can't go back there and talk with them. I'm not mentally prepared in the slightest!"

Mahiru began getting impatient.

"Yeah, well someone has to do it!"

Chiaki realized you spacing out and shook your arm, this causing you to jump a little.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" She asked.

All you did was get up leaving behind a confused Chiaki as you walked towards Mahiru and Hajime. You didn't even know what you were doing yourself, but something was driving you to do it. Maybe you would have thought straight if it wasn't for that handbook.

                                "Fucking stupid handbook..."

Once you go up to Mahiru, you tapped her shoulder and told her shyly that you would be able to give Nagito his breakfast. The two teens looked at you in utter shock.

"(Y/N), I know that you're new and you're trying to be nice to everyone, but...well...its KOMAEDA-KUN!"Hajime says in a freak. "Wait...when did you even meet him?!"

"Oh," you replied. "I met him last night and we talked for a while. He seemed like a pretty good guy. Yeah, maybe a little strange, but a nice person overall."

They looked at you like you were crazy, Hajime handing you the tray.

"Have fun." Mahiru said and walked off.

"Just...be careful (Y/N). Yell if you need any help." Hajime said putting his hand on your shoulder then going back to Chiaki and the others.

You just stood there confused.

"Was he really THAT bad?" You sighed and made your way to the old building. "I guess we'll see."
