Prologue
The loud sound coming from the propellers of the helicopter you were in shook through your body as you stare lifeless, dazed, and confused at the back of the seat in front of you.
"Who was flying? Why were you flying? Why were you so confused? Why do I feel like I can't move?"
These questions flew around in your head and just discombobulated you even more. Eventually, you found yourself falling into a deep sleep, the only time being awoken when you were suddenly very forcefully pushed out of the chopper onto something soft. It was ground though...right?...grass-no....sand? Where were you...what was going on...darkness...just darkness...
As you try to make out everything in your head, it all goes blank again and you fade into quiet nothingness yet again.
"Hey! HEY! GET UP! YEAH YOU!"
"...h-huh?....whats going on?" You said as you rose from your daze in confusion at the sound of a loud and annoying voice screaming in your ear to get up.
"Finally! You're new here and you don't even go to greet your headmaster properly?! Some manners you were taught!"
Suddenly, your eyes shoot open at the unexpected sight of a-not another human-but a medium sized monochromatic STUFFED BEAR TALKING-NO, SCREAMING IN YOUR FACE SAYING HE WAS THE HEAD MASTER OF THE SCHOOL YOU WERE ATTENDING!
"Oh yeah...Hopes Peak...Hopes Peak Academy...I remember now. Hopes Peak Academy High School. I got scouted for my ultimate talent and was accepted there" you thought aloud.
S
"Yeah, yeah! That's exactly right! And I am your headmaster!"
"...but wait...whats my talent again? Oh yeah! That's right! Section B Graduating class #77, (F/N) (L/N), Ultimate Nerd! Though I do love being labeled as the Ultimate Nerd, I would have much preferred Ultimate Garbage. Being a terrible person is a talent right? I got the title of Ultimate Nerd after initially being scouted for both of my talents, my talent in art and my talent in working with computers and technology, so instead of picking one, they were just combined into one talent that fit my personality and style a bit."
You turned to face the teddy bear standing next to you.
"You....what are you?" You asked. "I-is....is this real life...right now?"
"Sure is! IIIIIIII'm Monokuma~!" The short stuffed bear exclaimed as you began to pull yourself off of the beautiful beach sand you had just been laying in.
You almost burst out laughing hearing a talking STUFFED TEDDY BEAR say something so cute yet so evil, that voice being so annoying but so...oddly intriguing. The bear as well was very cute in your opinion...well...aside from the creepy-ass red eye it had. Other than that, it looked exactly what you would find in an action or sci-fi manga. Though almost erupting with laughter, being honest with yourself, your anxiety was beginning to take a tole on you as you began looking around at your surroundings frightened at the sudden change of pace. One minute you're walking into school to start another long and difficult stress-filled day up, then the next minute you're thrown onto a helicopter, pushed out of said helicopter, then awoken by a stuffed bear on a...what is this...an island?!
"WAIT! ARE WE ON AN ISLAND?!" You exclaimed, fully taking in everything around you. Despite the absolutely beautiful scenery everywhere, it didn't change the fact that you were on an island you didn't plan on coming to, you have no idea why a stuffed bear is talking to you, and you have no memories as to why you're here exactly.
--small time skip at the worst time possible -> (I know, it was a crappy move to do one NOW, but we've ALL heard the long boring-ass shpeal twenty-thousand times about the killing school trip and all that --> BASICALLY ITS JUST YOU SITTING IN HORROR THERE LISTENING TO MONOKUMA EXPLAIN WHERE YOU ARE, WHATS BEEN HAPPENING, AND WHO IS ALSO ON THIS ISLAND, NOT FORGETTING THAT HE IS ALSO, OF COURSE, EXPLAINING THE KILLINGS AND TRIALS AS WELL.) --
You looked in fear at the ground at the thought of students killing other students. People killing other people in general! And now you were participating in something like this?!!
"Well we're short two people already! So I guess we're back to 15 students! Puhuhuhuhu!!" Monokuma laughed and disappeared just like that. It wasn't far before someone else magically popped up though.
"Uuooh-WHAA?!!" A voice exclaimed. "Oh no! That jerk Monokuma! Torturing new students after just arriving!"
You looked up shocked only to see a half pink, half white bunny in a diaper.
"Oh god, not another one!" You thought to yourself.
"I already know what you're thinking! So let me explain! My name is Monomi! And I am not here to inflict harm!" The stuffed bunny stated. "I am here to welcome you to this island! Unfortunately, you are in this position, and I cannot save you all from this occurrence from evil, evil Monokuma, however, I can say this! Stay positive and you can get through this! I'm sure of it! Just work together with everyone here and collect all of the hope fragments, and you'll be alright!"
"W-what?" You asked beginning to breath fast and heavily. "Monomi?!...Stay positive?! Hope Fragments?!! Are you crazy?!!"
You had always had anxiety problems since you were little, and this was enough to drive it over the edge.
Need to calm down...need to calm down....need to calm down...just CALM DOWN!!!
Monomi gasped and took initiative immediately, her tiny and soft paws holding onto your shoulder and her eyes locking with yours grabbing your attention immediately.
"Please calm down. It's o.k (Y/N). Just look at me and breath. I'm not here to hurt you." She said calmingly and slowly.
Easing up a bit from your panic attack and regaining your breath at, what felt like, a snails pace, you focused on Monomi. Once realizing she was not going to harm you like Monokuma would, you lowered your guard and listened.
"Are you alright?"
"Y-...yeah...I think...I think so. I'm sorry for...for causing you trouble..."
Monomi hushed you.
"It's alright. No need to apologize. You are not causing any trouble at all. You're just nervous, and that is fully understandable."
You nodded quickly and look at her again.
"I'm sorry...please...I need an explanation."
Monomi took her paws off of your shoulders and stood in front of your kneeling self, fully presenting herself it to you.
"It's okay. I will explain everything in full detail. Take a deep breath and get ready! This will be a lot."
-From there on, Monomi explained everything to you. Your student handbook was explained to you in full as well, following the Hope Fragments and relationships with the students. You were finally able to get a full understanding of this situation. In the end though, it was the same response no matter what. "I can't do it." "It's not possible." These thoughts poisoned your head. They made you depressed and weak. They filled you with...despair. Just. Despair.-
----------------------------------------------
Falling into your bed lifeless...silent....brain dead. You lay there staring off into space at the single tan color of your cottage's ceiling. Is what you've just been told really true? Was this really...real? Soon all the anxiety you had welded up inside of you turned into fiery anger, the frustration throwing you up out of bed and turning you sharply around just to make your fist make hard contact onto the wall. Again...and again...and again...punch after punch after punch. You soon found yourself out of breath and starting to cry. You were confused, tired, and scared.
"I just want to go home..." You whimpered, falling back into your bed and curling up in a ball. "I want to be home with my friends and family...why...why is this happening?"
Once more, you fell into the dark, stillness of sleep as you prayed this was all a dream.
"Please...just let this be a dream..."
