Komaeda Unbound

After praying over Mahiru's body for a minute or so, you go to your cottage and change into your fresh clothes and out of your uncomfortable bikini, but that wasn't even the problem in this case. You would go butt naked if it meant Mahiru not dying. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Exiting your cottage and going to lock the door up again, you heard a familiar sounding voice call for you.

"(Y/N)-san!"

Snapping out of your thought about Mahiru and her dead body just laying there, you turn your head to see who was walking over to you.

"Oh, Komaeda-kun!" You said as he stood in front of you. You looked up at him awkwardly as you noticed he was, in all reality, towering over your 5'3 1/2 self as he smiled innocently down at you. "Hey! You're out of your chains finally!"

He laughed and pointed over his shoulder.

"I have Monomi to thank in this situation."

Quickly after being called, Monomi walked over besides Nagito and smiled up at you as well.

"Hello!" Monomi waved.

"Its unfortunate that we fully get to greet each other at such a troubling time." Nagito said looking away and down at the ground deep in thought.

"Yeah. Not everything has a fairy tale ending..."

Nagito looked back up at you, his eyes slightly wide opened.

"It hasn't ended though yet, (Y/N)-San!" Nagito said looking at you seriously. "Come on! Don't loose hope!" He finished, tapping your arm to get your full attention. "Lets go investigate together."

You nodded and went along with him to the beach house, you two lightly talking about things and him taking some time to explain what will be going on during the class trial.

"Komaeda?!! W-wait...how are you...?" Kazuichi blurted out looking over Hajime's shoulder when you and Nagito entered the beach house.

"Hello everyone!" Nagito said kindly waving. "Thankfully, Monomi was kind enough to rid me of my bindings so I could help everyone with investigating! Now then..." He finished then walked over to Mahiru's body and knelt down to get a better look.

Walking over to it as well to see what was going on, you glanced over at the wavy haired boy, his face showing he was clearly concentrating and thinking hard. He moved and searched quite interestingly, eyes looking carefully at the scene around him and hands lightly pointing out things to himself as he took note of each thing that caught his attention. Attempting to do the same, you quietly moved to the opposite side of him to search. Getting up to move again and ask Hajime what he found, the drink cooler in the back of the beach house made you whip your head around and go over to observe it.

"That's strange..." You mumbled. "I could have sworn I saw a bunch of waters in there before..."

"So, you noticed it too?" A voice asked close to your ear causing you to jump.

"O-oh...Komaeda-kun. Yeah. The last time I was in here, I definitely saw water bottles in the cooler. Kazuichi even took one to drink." You told him.

Nagito straightened his posture and tapped on your shoulder then pointed to the trash can next to the cooler.

"Empty water bottles..." You said quietly then looked over at the bathroom in the beach house. "And the shower is broken too..."

Nagito nodded and thought as well, going back to look over the blood stain on the floor. Giving himself a minute to think, he pulled you away from your own thought by calling your name softly as he lightly tugged on the back of your sweatshirt and motioned for you to follow him into the closet of the beach house.

As you investigated with him more and more, you found it harder and harder to believe why all the other students hadn't trusted him. He seemed pretty useful and very helpful in situations like this especially. His soft, airy tone was so calming to listen to as well, and his voice made you want to curl up into a blanket and fall asleep. Something about him was special to you as well, and it wasn't just his looks that drew you in. The more you talked with him, even if it was about who the murderer was, made you want to get away from the subject and just ask him about him. All that feeling made you feel so confused but happy....and anxious. Mainly anxious. He'd stand close to you when walking and smile constantly, this making you a little shy towards someone like him, it definitely not helping that you have social anxiety in the first place. You were just happy he wasn't a close-talker. If he was, then maybe you would actually understand people's nitch, but the way he acted with you didn't put you off at all and he seemed pretty normal overall. He sure seemed smart though, and very well-read. The way he spoke brought that out especially. You were never one for douchey, unintelligent meat-heads that would think they were "all that." You'd always found those guys to be annoying and loud. You liked the boys who never really got a lot of attention at school, and if they did, it would be from bullies. You liked to help everyone out of situations like that, even if, in the end, it hurt you. The fellow "nerds" and "geeks" got to you nicely and you would always date those kinds of guys. "An intelligent guy is the best kind of guy!" You would always say. Personality was more important to you than a persons body or looks. That was always just an added bonus. Nagito seemed very intelligent and aware, that drawing you in quite a bit. On top of it, he seemed like a perfect model for your art.

Sitting down at a table in the restaurant, you sighed hard and used your hands to hold your head up. Nagito sat himself across from you and gave you a worried and confused look.

"Are you alright, (Y/N)-san?" He kindly asked with a cute tilt of the head.

You nodded rubbing your eyes.

"Yeah. Just tired." You said lowly as you rubbed your face with both hands. Looking up to look at him in the eyes respectfully, you were surprised to see the concerned expression he held. "I'm fine. This situation has me a little skitzed out, that's all."

As you finished your statement, Nagito eyed you suspiciously, studying your movements and expressions. After a few minutes, he was on to asking you some questions about what you found at the scene that maybe he missed.

"Does he...suspect me?" You thought in your head.

Through the entire conversation, Nagito looked like he was thinking really hard about all the events that happened until the last few minutes of the chat where he just broke off back to his award winning smile.

"So, have any idea who the murderer might be?" You asked curiously.

Nagito nodded and continued smiling.

"I have a few ideas." Nagito said with a sly smile. "It's not who the first suspect is in this situation at all, and whoever killed Koizumi-san tried their hardest to properly set up all the evidence that would make us pin our vote on someone else and frame them, however they missed a few key details that are really obvious when you look at all the evidence."

Not giving you an actual answer, you just brushed it off and figured he would tell you later or you'd just find out.

"So, what did you end up finding when you were investing alone?"

He smiled and looked at you then went to retrieve something in his pocket. After some brief searching around, he eventually pulled out 15 folded sheets of paper. He laid them down on the table and unfolded each one, every paper containing a name scrabbled messily out and the outline of a shoe above it.

"Well," Nagito started and pointed at you then the paper with two small shoes outlined on it. "I wanted to go and check who the footprints leading out of the beach house belong to, so I went into everyone's cottage and traced their shoes. The prints left are definitely Sayonji-san's."

You nodded.

"Yeah." You agreed with him. "Those footprints were kinda small."

Nagito's expression suddently changed into a somewhat serious one as he looked at you spectically.

"So," he began leaning in a bit, resting his hands on the table and using his arms to support himself. "Did you find out anything else?"

You took a second to think then realized what you had missed telling him.

"Oh yeah!" you exclaimed. "That game in Jabberwock park! Twilight Syndrome Murder Case 2! I played that!"

Nagito's eyebrows immediately raised.

"I loved the first game! I couldn't believe that there was a second one, especially on this island! But...it wasn't quite what I thought. Whats with-"

"The names at the end?" Nagito suddenly blurted out interrupting you.

"Y-yeah..." you said looking at him slightly confused. You stared at him curiously, head tilted slightly and one eyebrow raised. "Did you play it?"

Nagito nodded and continued to stare down at the table for a minute or so just silently thinking.

As soon as he had cut you off before, as quickly, Nagito shot you another smile and got up from his seat, collecting all of the papers and inserting them back into his pocket after folding each one back up again.

"Well then," he said turning around and taking a step forward. "This was a nice change of pace. I hate to break up the fun, but I need to go."

Just as he finished, Nagito was already half way to the door.

"O-oh..." you stammered in surprise. "Alright then...See to you later."

Nagito put his hand up and began waving, then stopped in his tracks, put his hand down and turned his head to look back at you, peering at you somewhat creepily in a way that actually made you feel unsettled.

"Yes." He said closing his eyes then opening them to reveal his grey-green eyes almost spiraling. "See you at the class trial, (Y/N)-san."

Turning again and starting to walk towards the door once more, you sat back in your seat feeling waves of eeriness leach out of the boy and fill the room with a sense of discomfort and creepiness. All you could think about when the door closed behind him was those eyes and his unsatisfying and...twisted grin.

''Something isn't right..." you thought to yourself. "Or....is this what everyone has been warning me about...?"

You sighed and looked down at the table.

"Meh." You thought aloud. "Its probably just nothing."
