Introductions Are Always Difficult - part 2

After leaving the restaurant, you began making your way around the island a bit, slowly getting more information on where you were and who was here, and especially the kind of stuff you can do here. In no time once you laid your eyes on it, you knew your favorite place on the entire island was the Rocketpunch Market. You were also especially excited to check out the library you heard about that was located on the newly opened second island. Luckily, the other students that you would be staying with were also very very nice with the exceptions of maybe one or two, but for the most part, everyone was respectful and kind.

Finally, the time had come. You had finished all of your greetings and you decided to go look for Monomi and tell her thank you for everything she has done for you so far. There was one problem though. You couldn't find her. ANYWHERE. You even tried calling out for her a few times. But nothing.

"Hmmmm" You hummed lost in thought. "Maybe I'll thank her in the morning. It is getting late, so maybe she's sleeping by now."

And with that note, you headed back to your cottage tired continuing to wonder where Monomi was.

Walking up to the front door of your room, you froze, your hand on the doorknob still.

"Maybe shes...noooo...I doubt shes in there...right?"

Taking your hand slowly off of the nob, you turned and began heading towards the hotel's entrance and staircase leading up to the restaurant, soon finding yourself face-to-face with the door of the old looking building next to the two.

"Its worth a try I guess" You say to yourself shrugging then entering the building.

To your surprise, it actually had fairly decent lighting, and it wasn't completely dirty. Looking around in the office of the building and the bathroom, there was nothing and no one.

"How strange."

"How strange" was the only thing you can think to say. You had no idea what brought you to this place though. Something was oddly unsatisfying about it too. You felt another presence, but you didn't know who or what it was, nor where it was coming from. Feeling for the knife in your pocket and pulling it out with the blade flipped down into the handle, you held onto it tightly as you approached two large double doors. It was like they were calling you to open them. Something awaited you on the other side. Taking a deep breath trying to calm yourself down, you slowly opened the doors, thankfully the hinges on the door staying silent the whole way through, only to reveal someone laying on the floor with their back turned to you. Their arms and legs looked like they were...chained up?

"I-is this...another student?" You thought to yourself.

From what you could tell, they had a long dark green coat on, black pants, a white shirt, and low-cut brown boots, all of this matching with their messy white hair that seemed to be faded at the tips with a reddish color.

"That figure...its a guy for sure...but...why is he chained up?"

You flipped up the blade of your knife and slowly and quietly crept up to the boy.

"Is he...dangerous? Maybe I should get out of here..."

Despite your thoughts, before you even knew it, you were looming over his body, knelt down with your knife-in-hand, ready to threaten his life and make him tell you where Monomi was and why he was tied up, but it was too late to do any of that. Your body tensed up as the still figure before you suddenly began shuffling around then let itself fall flat on its back. Immediately once the white haired kid opened his eyes, he was unexpectedly face-to-face with the tip of the knife you had in your hand.

"Oh. Well this was unanticipated." He said lightly, a smile growing on his face.

You just sat there with a scared expression on your face continuing to hold the knife to his face. After realizing what you were doing as you peered down at his sweetly smiling face, you quickly took the knife away and flipped the black back down, jamming it back into your pocket, getting up, and beginning to rapidly shoot words of apology at him. All he does is look at you a little confused then smiles again and laughs slightly.

"Don't worry about it." He says in a soft tone. "I'm just surprised you didn't actually kill me. Well...it would be weird to do that to someone you haven even met yet. I bet you're scared though. Seeing a person tied up is definitely not the best first impression."

"He...he just laughed," You thought to yourself. "...how? How was he smiling when he saw the knife so close to his face like that?"

All you did was nod slightly, for you did not know what else you could do in response.

"You must be the new girl. I'm very sorry that you have to see me in such a disgusting state at this time." He apologized as he struggled to sit up straight in his bindings. "I'm Nagito. Nagito Komaeda. Though it doesn't seem like I am right now, I'm the Ultimate Lucky student. Its very nice to meet another amazing ultimate such as yourself."

"Y-yeah..." you stammered. "N-nice to m-meet you too..."

The way he spoke...the way he looked...how he was chained up...it all weirded you out, yet somehow, at the same time, very much intrigued you. There was something about him that really drew you in.

"My name is (F/N) (L/N). I'm the Ultimate Nerd." You laughed nervously. "Wow, that's actually a kind of embarrassing Ultimate title now that I am seriously saying it out loud!"

You looked down at the floor flustered and Nagito laughed.

"Hey, don't worry. Luck isn't even a talent. There's no greater trash in this world than me."

You got that he was trying to be reassuring, but you still felt bad that he thought that way about himself. No one deserves to be called trash.

"You're not trash." You look back up at him and say. "At least I don't think so from what I have seen of you so far."

The boys eyes widen and he freezes, a surprised expression instantly growing on his face. Quickly after though, it was no use, and he just went back to smiling and chuckling softly.

You sat down across from him on the hard, uncomfortable wooden floor seriously wondering how a person could lay there for a long period of time.

"So..." you spoke up to ask. "Why are you chained up?"

Nagito smiled at you.

"It seems the others unfortunately don't trust me much."

You replied with a "hmh," as you were following along with what he was saying but not fully understanding.

"Okay Nagito. Say I let you go." You started, looking into his grey-green eyes. "Would you kill me or harm me in any way?"

All the boy did was shake his head and continue smiling.

"No, I would never try to hurt someone without a reason. My views are just different from theirs." Nagito sighed. "Sometimes, I honestly think that they are strange for questioning my thoughts, but that can just be me saying stupid things again.

Tilting your head and continuing to look at him, you immediately asked him what his views are on whatever he was referring to.

"Oh, just my views on the absolute good." Nagito said, as he blinked slowly then looked back up at you smiling. His eyes had turned a darker shade of grey. "My hope is very different from theirs."
