Flashback...

READER'S POV

I was in the living room watching TV with my mum and my Husky puppy, Strider. My eyes started to feel heavy so I tapped my mum on the shoulder and said,"Mummy, I'm tired."

My mum looked at her watch and said,"Oh jezz is that the time already? Hey I bought you a new story book, would like a bed time story?"

She asks me with a smile and I said,"Yes please." Mum then said,"OK, I'll go and get it while you get changed into your pyjamas."

"OK mummy." I said.

I got off the couch and then Strider came along with me but then I heard the phone ringing and then mum answered it and then her eyes widen in shock and then she placed the phone back down on the counter. I went over to her and asked her,"Mummy? Is something wrong?"

"Oh sweetheart, it's your daddy and your big brother... They were on their way back here from your nana's place but there was a car crash...they didn't survive." She said with tears spilling from her eyes. My eyes widen at this and I shouted,"NO!"

I hugged her and we both burst into tears and then strider came over and he wanted to join in with the hug and then mummy petted his head and I was crying like a baby in her chest.

9 YEARS LATER...

I was on my back from school and when I got back a fully grown Strider came over and then he jumped up and then he licked me with excitement.

"Hey Strider! Knock it off! That tickles!" I said as I tried to get him to stop licking me. Strider just barked at me,"Woof!"

I scratched his face and he sure was happy to see me. I then said,"Come on boy, I suppose you want some dinner?" I said as I got his favourite dog bowel."Woof! Woof!" He barks happily.

I got Strider's favourite doggy biscuits and I put them it in his bowel and when I tried to give it to him but he kept jumping up on me so he can get it off me but I managed to put it on the floor and then he started to stuff his face.

After I gave Strider's food I went over to the counter and I saw a sticky note on the fridge so I looked at it and it said,"(Y/n), I'll be working late again tonight there's a pizza in the oven heat it up if you get hungry and don't forget to walk Strider, Mum."

"Oh boy, looks like it's just you and me again Strider, mum's working late again."I said with a disappointed look. "*Growls*." Strider growled at that comment.

"(Laughs) My thoughts exactly, Well I'm not hungry right now I'll have the Pizza later in the meantime I've a pet portrait to finish." I said as I held up my sketching book. "Woof!" Strider barks happily.

"Come on Boy on the stool." I said as I patted the stool for Strider to sit on. Strider jumped up on the stool and then he sat there perfectly so that I can continue to draw him.

TIME SKIP...

After a few minutes past I finally finished drawing Strider and I said,"OK Strider, It's finished." Strider jumped off the stool and he looked at it and he licked my face as his way of saying it's great. "Now that's finished, let's go and take you out for a walk." I said as I went to get his lead. "Woof!" Strider barked happily again.

Strider grabbed his lead and I put my jacket on and I put the lead on him and I went out and locked the door. After I walked Strider through the park I saw a game that I wanted for a while so I tied strider to a lamp post and I quickly went inside and bought the game and I untied him and headed back home. After I got home I took the lead off Strider and then he dashed over to the cupboard and he was scratching on the door to get inside.

"OK, OK, OK, Strider I'm coming." I said. I went over to the cupboard and I got his chew and I told him to sit and then I told him to sit up and I placed the chew on his nose and then I shouted go and then he caught it.

"Good boy." I said as I petted his head. I went over to the oven and I took the pizza out of the box and I put it in the oven. I went over to the couch and I sat down and I switched on the TV and then Strider came over and he place his head on my lap.

"*Sighs* It's boring around here isn't it? Nothing good happens any more not since that accident." I said to Strider as I petted his head a couple of times.

"*Whimpers*" Strider wimps at that comment. I said,"Yeah I know it's going to be the anniversary of the crash in a few days and I don't think mum will be coming she's too busy to even pay any attention to her only daughter and she never comes with us to the cemetery I'll bet it'll be you and me again like always."

I got up and I went over to the oven and the pizza was ready. I got a plate and I put the pizza on the plate and when I was about to eat it Strider came over and he gave the puppy look again.

"*Sighs*, Fine you can have some but this is not good for dogs you know." I said. I gave Strider two slices of pizza and I put it on a small plate and I gave it to him. We then ate the Pizza and we were both finished with it. I looked at the time and it was too early for me to go to bed so I got the shopping bag from the game store and I headed upstairs and Strider followed me.

I went into my bed room and I switched the game console on and I started to play on it. After a while I reached the semi last dungeon and I had to defeat Link's clone but I lost every time. I felt Strider nudging his nose against my arm and he had my clock in his mouth I paused the game and I took the clock and I looked at it and it was 22:45.

"Already? oh man, thanks Strider, I better go and check to see if mum is back yet." I said to him. I got off the beanbag chair and I went into mum's bedroom and she wasn't in bed so I headed down stairs and she was sitting on the couch with her laptop on her lap and I said,"Hey mum, When did you get back?"

"I got back about 5 minutes ago and anyway shouldn't you be in bed?" She said as she was busy typing away on her laptop. I sighed and said,"I'm just going I was just checking to see if you were back yet before I locked the door and by the way the anniversary of dad and my big brother's death will be coming soon in a few days don't forget."

Mum didn't answer me. I hate it when she ignores me like that it's almost like I'm invisible to her. I headed up stairs and I when I got into my bedroom someone or something grabbed me and then I was blacked out.

I punched her in the stomach and I picked her up bridal style and I took her back to my castle.
