Prologue

In the aftermath of the Second Giant War, Annabeth and I agreed to finish school, graduate, and attempt college before the gods would need us again. Annabeth convinced her father to let her move to New York, upon the condition that she attend an all girls private boarding school. They gave her breaks in school that corresponded with public schools, and most weekends off, where she stayed at my apartment. Mom and Paul got me a new bed, a trundle bed to be exact, because we didn't have an extra bedroom for Annabeth to sleep in.

Piper and Jason broke up. It wasn't because they didn't love each other, because they did, but because Jason was going to be moving back and forth between camps, and Piper was settling down in LA to finish school. They agreed that the stress of a long distance relationship wouldn't work well for them. Every time that Jason was in town, and between completing his online school work, I could see the pain in his eyes when he talked about her. Annabeth said the same whenever she video chatted with Piper.

Hazel and Frank went back to Camp Jupiter. They figured out a way to keep Frank's stick from burning up completely, and he was making his way to becoming Praetor. I think the idea that demigods could live full lives, have kids, and grow old, appealed to them more than it did to us Greeks. I was happy for them, and it made it easier for Nico to visit Hazel, him being the Ambassador of Pluto and all.

Reyna remained at Camp Jupiter as well, but she made it her mission to visit as often as she could. I suspected it was so that she wouldn't miss the capture the flag games that went on when the Hunters were staying. Especially when the Lieutenant was sweet on her.

Nico and Will began hanging out more. Probably because Nico landed himself in the infirmary on a consistent basis from shadow traveling. I suspected that he and Will would get together at sometime in the near future. I left Mrs. O'Leary in Nico's care since he took care of her the whole time my memory was wiped. I still saw her the times I visited camp. Nico seemed happy to be in charge of her.

No one had heard from the gods, other than Mr. D, since the end of the battle. Olympus was quiet, and so was Rachel. She spent her time painting and satisfying her father with school. Occasionally she would stop by for a visit, and we would reminisce about the old days. She said that she was constantly texting Apollo since the gods made him mortal in August, but other than a few random Haikus, he'd been radio silent.

Leo was still gone. Most campers thought that he was dead because of how long he'd been missing, and the way he basically blew himself up. But if you talked to Nico, he'd frustratingly say that the son of Hephaestus wasn't dead at all. The rest of the seven suspected that he was on his way to find Ogygia and rescue Calypso. It always made me sad when I thought about how the gods never went through with their promise of releasing her. I hoped that Leo would find her, and come back to camp.

I settled into a rhythm with school, a job, and keeping up with training. I joined swim team at school, did all my stuff in ancient Greek so Paul could type everything in English, got hired at the aquarium, and I joined a local gym. I also joined a martial arts dojo that let me practice my sword fighting if I took a martial arts class. I considered it a win win. That way when I sparred with Annabeth at camp during breaks, it was more challenging for the both of us. To say the least, I was enjoying living my life without worrying about being some god's errand boy. Even the monsters had been quiet since the end of the war, which definitely was a good thing when you're not living at camp anymore.
