Third POV, Goode High School, Manhattan New York:
Loki resented the whole situation equally, if not more, than Percy did. He was lost and confused the entire time. He watched Percy change clothes; not creepily of course, he looked away for most of it, but how else was he supposed to understand the mortal way of life? He only observed for a small fraction of the time he attempted to take over the state. Percy had dressed himself in a red long-sleeved shirt, a pair of dark blue jeans, and a pair of converse shoes. He threw a pullover sweatshirt on and started to strap these oval things to his knees and elbows.
Loki was fascinated by Percy's mode of transportation. He marveled at the boy's morning routine as well. Unfortunately, his thoughts were interrupted by the door to the room opening. Percy whirled around to see Paul and Sally in the doorway.
"Percy, did you forget I drop you off in the mornings?" Paul said chuckling. Percy's cheeks turned a bit pink.
"Right, I totally missed that." He responded, stuffing what was strapped to him in his backpack and picking up something with wheels.
The two boys followed Paul out to his car for school. Paul was supposed to give Loki a schedule and have Percy share his locker. Loki felt kind of bad for him. Percy was an only child when living with his mom, and pretty much the same when he was staying at camp. It was a hard adjustment to gain a sibling.
Percy showed the way to the office and was kind enough to wait with him. Loki wasn't sure about who Percy hung out with at school since Sally and Paul only mentioned Annabeth coming over. Not even friends from camp came over. He watched Percy greet a boy about the same height as him, blonde, and wearing a jean jacket.
"Jackson, you look like someone just took away your board." The blonde said. Percy forced a laugh.
"Nah man. My step brother transferred back." Loki was dragged in front of Percy with an aggressive tug. "Shaya, this is Lincoln, my older step brother. Lincoln, this is my best friend Shaya. He works with me at the aquarium."
"Nice to meet you Lincoln." Shaya said. Loki smiled.
"Please, call me Link." He said holding a hand out for Shaya to take.
After they shook hands, Percy opened a locker to the right of where they were standing and dropped his backpack in it, pulling out materials for his classes. Loki hesitantly placed his in the locker above Percy's. He'd have to get used to being an older brother.
Over the course of the day, Loki had gotten used to being called 'Link' and had fully adjusted to being related to Percy. Loki also found out how much Percy struggled. Percy could be annoying at times, and it was never directed at him. Loki assumed it was the personality that Percy gained from being a normal kid in school, not the leader of an entire army. Aside from what Loki learned observing Percy, he learned that he agreed with every person who said high school sucked. Loki had to bullshit his way through pretty much everything he was getting from every class he had to take. That left him inwardly screaming at himself on the bleachers in the pool room.
Percy had swim practice on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's. The good thing was, it was Friday, which meant Loki had a whole lot of time to learn how to be a student. He waited patiently for practice to end, and longer because Percy had a phone call, making Paul wait in the car and Loki wait on the bleachers.
"I wasn't notified until last night Wise Girl, it's not like I could do anything." Percy said into the phone. He had his sweatshirt draped over one arm and his hair was wet. "Of course I want you to come over. Maybe mom will let him sleep on the couch for the whole weekend... Okay, I'll see you in a bit. I love you."
Percy hung up the phone and looked over to where Loki was packing up his things. He tried not to let him know he was listening in on the conversation. What Percy did with his girlfriend really wasn't Loki's business, except that Loki was still himself (no matter what his appearance looked like or what his limitations had become) and decided to keep tabs on the two of them. Call it 'being a brother'.
